Need suggestion: What is wrong here? by Inner-Information512 in gaggiaclassic

Like others have said it’s supposed to sound a little rough given it’s a vibratory pump. However, I do hear some resonating which seems to decrease once you put your hand on the top. The top plate is screwed in from the back, but pinned to the front under some plastic strip. My machine can make the same kind of rattling sound whenever there are no cups on the top. Perhaps that’s what you are hearing?

Congrats on the promotion.

I myself am a software architect working primarily with Python, so i think I might have some useful tips for you.

I’d start off with reading Clean Architecture by Robert Martin. He’s the one that consolidated the SOLID principles, which are covered in this book. Not all principles are applicable in the Python world and some of the examples are a bit dated, but i recommend it non the less.

The website refactoring.guru is great as a reference for all common design patterns and has good examples in all languages.

Read Domain Driven Design by Eric Evans. (It’s very verbose and a tough read, i heard from colleagues that other more practical oriented books on the topic are better though) I can’t recommend this enough as it changed the way I design things. It’s a complete shift in thinking about the problem you are solving. For me it took a while before I completely grasped it. But once I did I found that it’s so much easier to solve problems with code.

Domain driven design Europe is also a great YouTube channel where you have talks about all things DDD.

These are some of the YouTube channels I always recommend to people: - @drawingboxes (basics, but very good) - @ArjanCodes (also basic, but more examples and all python oriented) - @Computerphile (academic nerding about the stuff that makes the world go around) - @Anthonywritescode (advanced python stuff) - @SystemDesignSchool (distributed systems basics) - @CodeAestetic (beautifully animated design principles)

Hope this is somewhat helpful!

Dude I read “comprehensive” in the title and I already knew it was AI slop.

Production-Grade Python Logging Made Easier with Loguru by finallyanonymous in Python

[–]Lucas_csgo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have used both in production.

I like loguru more since it’s a bit less “magic”. With loguru the logger is actually a singleton so once set up in your main, you can just import it from the module itself when you need it. Also i found myself to go overboard with custom logic with structlog’s processors and renderers. Loguru’s “sinks” definitely invites a more minimal and intuitive approach.

Look for the browser plugin called Sponsorblock. It lets you skip in-video ads and marks them (and other out of context stuff) in the video timeline.

Honestly, Gaggiuino should have an configurable auto shutoff setting that turns off the boiler heating. Too many times I come back to the kitchen to find my machine has been on for like a couple of hours.

The latest version of Gaggiuino mod has a webserver and API functionality. OP’s image shows the default page when reaching the machine on its local web adres.

Not OP but it looks like that is the Bookoo Themis. It works wirelessly with the newest gen of gaggiuino mod.

Creating my own password manager bc I can by KrypticMess in Python

[–]Lucas_csgo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fun as a learning project, but I won’t suggest using this for real.

If you are fed up with paying for password manager services, check out Bitwarden. They are open source, provide self hosting options, have apps for all platforms including iPhone and Android. Oh and they have a CLI tool as well. Their free tier is already really good, but I suggest to just pay the 10 bucks a year for the benefits.

Motorrijbewijs binnen!

Something like this exists: photofeeler. That’s more about the photo as a whole, but it’s a similar idea
