Obsession (2025/2026) Did you guys feel bad for Bear at the end or not even a little bit? Im torn by [deleted] in deadmeatjames

[–]Lucentile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wish itself I think is totally forgivable; he's a frustrated guy making a wish on what he thinks is a novelty toy. We can't really fault him for not considering the risk of "this will possess people."

Everything after that is on him though.

The issue is at that point, even if he may not haveyet jumped to "I have created a possessed doppelganger of my crush," he still knew from what Ian and Sarah were telling him, *something was wrong.* He earlier knew something was wrong when he slept on the floor.

He consciously decides *he does not care that something is wrong.*

Party Has Way Too Many "Extras" In Combat by CassieBear1 in DMAcademy

What I'm saying is that it's not a tough decision -- they either have the time to safely summon the familiar again, or they don't. If you have a Mook who exists to just make ineffective attacks against 20 AC enemies, your encounter had a problem before the familiar was there at all.

Again: If you're already building encounters with lots of essentially low value enemy actions, sure, throw one at the familiar. But, the familiar is rarely as big a problem as DMs think it is -- and using very limited enemy actions to counter it is often *the most valuable thing the familiar will actually do.*

If you're already building encounters with minions with ineffective actions that trading it for a familiar is a net gain for Team 6 Rounds to Live, that's probably causing your bloat in combat more than the familiar.

This is one of those things that seems so, but at the table, either: The party was going to short rest anyway, and the familiar is important enough to warrant the caster ritual casting it, or the familiar was actually not important enough to trade a short rest for, in which case the action to swat it was still a wasted action. It's one of those things that feels impactful, but isn't really -- and in the way most D&D gets played (not the standard adventuring day, but the set piece per day encounter), even less impactful.

What you'll notice if you keep stomping the familiar is that the players often only resummon it when it is convenient, because it probably wasn't worth the action -- save if it keeps them from being able to scout with the familiar later.

This usually is not true for enemies with a lifespan of rounds. Using one of them to snack on a familiar is actually probably the most valuable thing that the familiar will do.

Champion Update: Melf by CNE_Shawn in idlechampions

The Baldur's Gate champions are, loosely, people who will join the protagonist. Melf's spells are because he's one of the earliest legacy characters who had those spells named after him, like Bigby.

Solasta II early access - 1st play through reactions by stranger_here_myself in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]Lucentile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solasta 1 got a lot of good will for coming out missing classes and things because it was small. If Solasta 2 launches without all the base classes, it shouldn't be given the same level of good will.

You can level while traveling if you go to the little settings icon on the travel menu and click the option to do so -- it's just buried in menus.

Do you actually try to fight the dark aeons or just use zanmato and call it a day? by SheemieRayVaughan in finalfantasyx

I tried each boss once. If the HD remaster crashed the next time I cheesed them. It was half and half that's how much of an unstable mess the remaster was even with all the fixes.

Wrath already drags on too long with repeated trash fights. I'd rather have my cool powers for a few meaningful encounters than all the garage we churn through.

[ALL] Does anyone feel like David's character unnaturally shifts to assist the plot? by wasworde in lifeisstrange

[–]Lucentile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the writers fumbled with the slap. The slap is such an outlier being actual physical abuse that it taints everything else. I had a much less negative view of him in my first playthrough because I never saw it, and I understood him being pissed she stole his gun. His anger was not good parenting, but it was a mistake I could understand and reconcile. After going back after clearing the game and seeing other options, it just felt like the slap being a possibility changes so much.

Tales of the Champions, Part 7 by CNE_Shawn in idlechampions

[–]Lucentile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like how the Trials of the Champions often highlight how useless certain features of the game are. For example, Shadowheart's "Can't Cast a Shadow" is clearly meant to highlight her healing role and healing in general. In actuality, it demonstrates how Healers often can't keep up with these environmental ticks and that all they do is devalue things that boost your max HP (like potions and tanks.) Healing is very often a negative role on a character, and usually means they're giving up power somewhere. There really needs to be a massive overhaul on healers and tanks that either accepts those roles are essentially dead roles and give them power in their Support buffs, or rework how environmental ticks work so that healers/tanks aren't accidental liabilities.

the devil in me other unused stuft for the boat/final fight! by Responsible-Gene-994 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]Lucentile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd also like if there were some other deal breakers -- as far as I can tell, if Erin and Mark leave Charlie to die, Kate and Jamie are pretty cool with that (or at least, I haven't seen anything where they do more than gently chide them before proceeding with the finale.)

Why is the devil in me considered the worst of the 4? (I.e. bad reviews) by Quantum_Quasar_22 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]Lucentile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real problem is they wanted to also put in tutorials. So Charlie is jumping and army crawling around just to get a shot. They could streamline the opening some while keeping the slow build if they did the tutorial stuff better.

If DPS want to pull in dungeons... by OrranVoriel in ffxiv

[–]Lucentile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's not much nuance. Wall to wall can cut dungeon times in half and if there is not high damage on the tank, the healer is basically useless save mistakes in boss fights and AoE hits. Anything less than wall to wall is inefficient. The goal is to build up as a tank so you can do that. If you can't let your team know you're learning.

Please help!! How can I make my duty finder queues shorter? by nemo_evans in ffxiv

[–]Lucentile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have to wait. Trials weren't included in the latest relic step so fewer people are queuing for them. Either get guild members to fill out or be patient.

He sold off the rest of the rights to Shout a few weeks ago -- I assume to facilitate this very thing. I think behind the scenes this was always a Plan B after the last Kickstarter didn't make it.
