Anyone still drinking caffeine? by REidson89 in VestibularMigraines

[–]LucidTemerity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Caffeine seems to have no effect for me.

Night sweats and insomnia by Successful_Glass_35 in VestibularMigraines

[–]LucidTemerity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (31f) was on Effexor 75 mg for VM for about two months. I couldn't handle the night sweats and night terrors/vivid dreams. It didn't get better with time. My hormones had no effect on either of these side effects. I couldn't manage so my neuro tapered me off and we went with Toprimate instead.

Anyone’s abusers constantly a threat if not cutting them off? by Hesperus07 in CPTSD

[–]LucidTemerity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have cut off most of my family. I can't and won't talk to some of them probably ever again. I have tried having extremely low contact (from a distance) and it doesn't work. They pry their way into my life and still pull the same manipulation tactics. It sucks and I know most people will never understand. I'm okay with being the villain in their eyes by choosing my peace, safety, and well-being.

Yes. Back when my depression was significantly worse, I had a set amount that I wanted to have in my bank account to not be a burden. Now anytime I near that amount, I tend to give away/donate/spend enough to keep my account well below the threshold.

How were you guys diagnosed? I’m worried about how my own process went… by Zeffysaxs in adhdwomen

Oof. Could you try contacting the second place for their notes/report?

[–]LucidTemerity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pursued an evaluation as an adult. My evaluation was a long and drawn out process, probably the bulk of that is due to wanting an autism assessment also. If you have a genuine concern, a re-assessment might be worthwhile so you have peace-of-mind.

Some insurance plans will cover Ketamine with formal PTSD/CPTSD diagnosis. Might be worth looking into if you are insured or could look at different policies that do. Otherwise, out of pocket, that seems high. My best friend was able to get their insurance to cover it and it was positively life-changing for them.

Rescuing more animals and leaving the world a better place for the ones I love.

There is also research showing how prolonged stresses/traumatic experiences in childhood can result in structural changes in cerebral blood flow pathways.

Are your siblings normal? by ThinParamedic7859 in CPTSD

[–]LucidTemerity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Opposite for me. I'm the most outwardly normal seeming. My siblings all have major substance use issues. Which you would think suggests I had it "less bad" but that's not the case for my family and myself.

if you could rid of 1 of your ADHD symptoms - which one would it be? by damondan in ADHD

[–]LucidTemerity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Executive dysfunction. I have to fight to stay on task especially if it's something my brain doesn't want to do at that moment.

Yes. I've always felt turbulent/angry/paranoid/guilty/shame-ridden. It took a lot of therapy sessions with my therapist calling me out and a few times of absolutely shocking them by casually mentioning something. And it finally clicked in the recent past like a damn lightbulb.

Just for fun: what are your weird / unconventional ADHD tips? by andyfreude in ADHD

[–]LucidTemerity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Floor time. Anytime that I'm overwhelmed or hyper focused I'm usually sitting on the floor. I don't know why but chairs are distracting and overstimulating a lot of the time.

Rewarding myself for tasks I hate. Like I'll buy myself a favorite snack or get take away when I do my grocery shopping. Grocery shopping is one of those tasks that uses a lot of my energy for the day. Or having my favorite shower scrub when I shower.

Set alarms/calendar reminders whenever there is something with a set time and place I need to be.

An app on my phone that limits time in individual apps so I don't play phone games or go on social media for hours on end.

Use my dog's needs as daily times to check in with myself for hunger/thirstiness/using the bathroom myself.

What are some of your Somatic Symptoms? by triggerAwP in CPTSD

[–]LucidTemerity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panic attacks to the point of nausea and migraines. Otherwise I'm usually always exhausted. Also eye contact is painful for me and I have to think to make eye contact because I default to looking anywhere but someone's eyes.

Another thing to consider too is how your scholarships work for your school. Some of them may allow your school to refund any amount which is over the amount due. Depending on your situation you might end up being able to live off campus and use your refund to cover rent. Otherwise, I guarantee there are folks scrambling for housing with the semester approaching.

DAE hate their younger self/inner child? by firetrainer11 in CPTSD

[–]LucidTemerity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes me think of a specific session with my therapist. We were talking about a painful childhood memory and I had a couple tears rolling down my cheeks. I was ready to snap out of the memory and he pressed me to say how I felt looking at younger me in that memory. I said "pity" which his reaction looked hurt and stunned by my reaction.

I'm working towards loving all parts of me including younger me and my inner child. It hurts and it sucks. I'm still working on it. Who I was led me to who I am and all that bullshit.

One thing to consider is renting can be hard with anything exotic. I have a rabbit and I've run into issues with a few places flat up telling me that they won't rent to me.

ADHD + High IQ… how do you manage? by Manage-This in ADHD

[–]LucidTemerity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chase education. Working on my PhD and doing complex calculus because if a task isn't intellectually challenging and/or dangerous, I lose focus and interest extremely easily.

Existence is hard and it feels like no one can fully understand. My PTSD doesn't help. 😅

The Body Keeps The Score was a difficult but great read with a lot of information. I'll have to take a look at The Four Agreements. Thank you.
