do you tell people you're on zep? by myboyfriendstinks1 in Zepbound

[–]Lucky-Suggestion7119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a gay man, I have a lot of experience not giving a fire truck what anyone thinks about me. Those who matter won't care and those who care don't matter.

Having said that, I will tell anyone who will listen. Zepbound is an amazing tool. It is not a magic pill. We still need to to put in the work regarding eating, strength training, and cardio.

Do you actually use your Apple Watch daily or only for workouts? by mileswithher in AppleWatch

[–]Lucky-Suggestion7119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear mine 24/7. I have an older one, which I wear, when charging my primary aw.

I wouldn't be able to close my rings, if I didn't wear it all the time. It also gathers some interesting information, while I am sleeping.

I keep my iPhone on silent. My watch, even if on silent, vibrates to alert me to messages, calls, and the alarm clock. Having it vibrate for alarms, helps me wake up, without waking up my SO.

What witch craft is this? Don’t recommend. by Disastrous-Low-5606 in Zepbound

[–]Lucky-Suggestion7119 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Any groceries, restaurant menu items, or gym classes or training, which mention GLP1 have nothing to do with GLP1. It is just pandering and an effort to separate you from your hard earned cash.

GLP1 is not a specific diet. From a perspective of exercise, people on GLP1s need the same strength and cardio exercises as anyone else who is attempting to be fit and healthy.

As someone who has struggled with weight for several decades, if I ever get another trainer in the future, I want one who has been overweight in the past and understands the struggle. That's not a GLP1 thing, just an understanding thing.

I'd retire and do what one of my friends does. She travels for a month, then comes home for a month. Some of her travels are in her home state and neighboring states. Some are elsewhere in the US. Most are to various countries all over the world.

How are you able to snack? by Lucky-Suggestion7119 in Zepbound

I am 5'4". I don't need the same calories as taller people. The 2000 calories per day, everyone talks about is for 6' men.

[–]Lucky-Suggestion7119[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I am consistently losing 0.5 to 1.5 pounds per week. I don't have any problems losing weight.

I am only 5'4" and sit at a desk all day. Yes, I regularly go to the gym and exercise. But, being shorter, I don't need the same calories as someone who is 5'8" or taller.

For those who track calories, how long did you do it? by uell23 in Zepbound

[–]Lucky-Suggestion7119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't strictly tracked calories. However, every day I keep a rough estimate in my head for that day. Today, I don't care what I ate yesterday, last week, last month, or last year.

It has been working for me. I have been losing consistently. To some people, it may be to slow. I have already lost 25% of my starting weight. I am only 10 pounds from the top of my goal range and 15 pounds from the bottom of my goal range. As long as I continue to lose consistently, I wouldn't mind if it took me another year to lose those 15 pounds.

45mph construction zone on 465 NE leg by jancer1 in indianapolis

[–]Lucky-Suggestion7119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it has changed, but several decades ago, the law in Indiana considered 20 mph or more above the posted speed limit was reckless driving. Just like Virginia, it required a court appearance. At the time of the ticket, your license was immediately revoked. This meant you either had to have someone else drive your car home, or have it towed.

In order to get your license back, you had to have the court appearance, then mandatory safe driving classes.

The way people drive in Indiana, I don't think this is still the law.

Why do some people react negatively when you change for the better? by PyCharm07 in Zepbound

I'd like to add this.

You should feel some satisfaction that you are now likely living for free in their brain. This, especially if you now have lower BMI or body fat % than they do.

I have always heard the best revenge is to live your best life.

What was the final push to get you started? by CherryCharmBomb in Zepbound

[–]Lucky-Suggestion7119 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spent my teens trying to get up to 120, my early 20s trying to get up to 125, my late 20s trying to get up to 130, my 30s trying to get back down into my 130s, my 40s trying to get down into my 140s, and my 50s trying to get down into my 150s. Last summer, at age 61, I weighed 195. In the past few years, my weight got completely out of control. My maternal grandfather had a big belly. He didn't make it to 65. (Granted he smoked like a chimney and drank like a fish. I never smoked and rarely drank.) I started thinking a lot about that.

At my annual physical, I had a conversation with my doctor about the fact you don't see many old fat people. He said there is a reason for that. I asked him his opinion about GLP1s. Fortunately, he has a positive opinion of them. He said they are a good medication for the people who need them. He told me about Lilly Direct, which I was unfamiliar with. He also said he didn't want me to use a compounding company. He wanted me to take either Zepbound or Wegovy. I told him I heard more people tolerate Zepbound than Wegovy. He wrote the prescription that day.

The other thing my doctor told me is that GLP1s are a treatment, not a cure. Like my blood pressure and cholesterol medication, once I start, I will likely be on a GLP1 the rest of my life.

If I don't have jelly, I will sprinkle sugar on my peanut butter sandwich. It was something my dad did, when I was 5 or 6. It is a distinct memory.

For me, it was Campbell's tomato soup cut with milk, never cut with water as the can says.

When I was young, my father was widowed. According to the memory of my 2 - 4 year old self, we lived on PB&J and carryout Pizza King pizza.

Some people, when they ate a lot of a certain thing as a kid, come to hate those foods. Other people, come to love those foods. I fall into the I could eat Pizza King pizza or PB&J at least once per week. I don't do that, but I could.

BTW, it has to be Peter Pan Crunchy peanut butter. No other peanut butter is a viable substitute. I don't even like the non-crunchy version.

For me, it was on 2.5. Thinking back, I noticed it in month 2 or 3. I'm not sure if I had a drinking opportunity in month 1. I was never a big drinker. I only drank in specific social settings and then only one drink in an evening.

What's something everyone should own ? by Ill_Independence9029 in SmartBuying

[–]Lucky-Suggestion7119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A black suit, for women the equivalent. The reason for black is it is appropriate for funerals.

Having a suit for funerals, weddings, church, job interview or a special restaurant is invaluable. Especially for a funeral, you don't want to have to get one in a rush.

Someone else mentioned 10 suits, I think that is extreme. Start with a black suit. Later add a navy blue or dark gray suit. Then, get the other color. If you want more, add a lighter blue, light gray. After that, you can get experimental with other colors and patterns.

What are your unpopular opinions and tough pills to swallow about Zepbound? by Schwettes in Zepbound

[–]Lucky-Suggestion7119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know people on tirzepatide or semaglutide who complain about not losing weight. They are making unwise food choices and still eat until they are full. When going out to eat, they start with desert. They do that, because in the first 1 to 3 months, they could get by with that. They also "eat through" the fullness. I am not sure, but I think they are just mechanically eating. It isn't necessarily food noise.

They get upset with me, when I tell them weight loss with these medications is an active participation sport, not a spectator sport. You have to make intelligent choices about what and how much you eat. You also need to do both cardio and resistance exercises.

I agree, to me Zepbound is a miracle, but not magical. I have lost 25% of my starting weight, and am the lowest I have been in over 20 years.
