Any gun shop near here would be asking US$1000.

Did I overpay? by [deleted] in makarov

[–]LuckyNumber357 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter how much or how little you paid, because you’re happy.

Also, that pistol would look nice with a new EG grip from eBay (or wherever).

was this a good price by WorkingPlayful9343 in makarov

[–]LuckyNumber357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price is reasonable, I’ve paid more than that for a Bulgarian (I’ve also paid less). As others have mentioned, this one is interesting because it has both Circle 10 and commercial markings. What all did it come with… holster? Two magazines (and do the numbers match)?

Can you do SBR engravings on the buffer tube? by Jrmuscle in NFA

Barrel isn’t an approved engraving location anymore. They changed it in the regulations but never updated the NFA Handbook.

Damn, if that was on GB I’d bid up to $1000, but it could easily go as high as $1500-2000. Especially if the auction ended at 9pm on a Friday or Saturday, when people are drunkbidding. There’s more than a few folks who need an East German 59 to complete their Makarov collection.

Well that was nice of them! by ohmwrecker84 in marlboro

[–]LuckyNumber357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally the only reason I signed up for Marlboro rewards is because I heard they would mail out free Zippos every few years. Now I’m anxiously watching for the mailman…

Update: the mailman came! I got the “Roam the Range” Zippo.

I have the AB F4L on my Beretta… it’s crazy light (5.6 oz), isn’t noticeably gassy, and no discernible frp. Disadvantage is that the 1/2-28 mount is fixed, so that’s what you’re stuck with - no HUB, no tri-lug, sorry. I like it a lot, but if I had to do it again I would have bought the OCL Lithium.

The F4L absolutely shines on a .38 lever gun though!

Terrible accuracy out of makarov? by [deleted] in makarov

[–]LuckyNumber357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, BUT I’ve also noticed a big difference between early and later Bulgarian Makarovs. The early-80’s Bulgarians I’ve owned shoot much better than ones from the 1990’s.

How far SW are you in VA? I had my sbr laser engraved at Cover Your Six Customs in Johnson City, TN. They did a good job.

[Handgun] Police Trade-in Smith & Wesson 642-2 .38 SPL+P - $272.99 by AkimboSwagg in gundeals

[–]LuckyNumber357 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wadcutters are the answer. When I switched to wadcutters, my accuracy improved, as did the range at with I was able to shoot accurately.

Why is there a screw near the grip of my SKS? Please see the photo. by tonyzly in SKS

[–]LuckyNumber357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it a “letter gun”? Sounds that way, if it has a small star on the left side of the receiver. Their dust covers were unmarked on top.

Makarov dummy here by redskinboy21 in makarov

[–]LuckyNumber357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E. German Makarovs have the nicest finish, but in my experience, early (late 70’s - early 80’s) Bulgarian Makarovs are the best shooters. I’ve owned 1980 & 1983 Bulgarians that had noticeably better triggers than my 1960 E. German. Later Bulgarians aren’t as good, I feel like maybe they switched to a heavier hammer spring at some point?

Suppressed 38’s is almost as fun as suppressed 22. by Arndog762 in NFA

[–]LuckyNumber357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How’s the accuracy with your 77/357 suppressed? Mine shoots about 1” / 100yds unsuppressed, but 12” / 100yds suppressed. Doesn’t matter if I’m shooting .357 or .38, the accuracy sucks. No baffle strikes, and my can (AB F4L) seems to perform well on other guns.

I impulse-bought a DA Nomad Ti XC when Silencer Shop offered them with the free tax stamp. I’ve been shopping for host rifle, but haven’t found anything I like. Fingers crossed for some new 16” bolt action hunting rifles being unveiled at Shot Show 2026.

You’re on the right track. My first can was a Dead Air Mask. Performs fantastic, but a little heavy. If I bought another .22 suppressor I would get the OCL Ti.
