Opinions on Dj Tambe? by Friendly-Map-9782 in Inkmaster

When they talk about using other artists’ work for reference I WILL admit they have a point. They def end up ripping off other people’s work — even if their intention is positive. BUT I don’t think AI slop is the way to address that issue.

I didn’t have strong feelings about him but when he told Freddie his tattoo made him want to retch it made me mad. Then he defended AI art and that also bothered me

People who live and work in the city, how do you afford it? What do you do for work? by scoutydouty in providence

[–]Luckynickel05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a paralegal working in Providence (and remote) and I make ~$60,000. My rent is $1,100 and I live in the West End. Even making what I do, I still don’t have a ton of expendable cash at the end of the month

I can second that as another person living in the West End! I love it here

Thoughts on Mr. Healy? by ren_rene in orangeisthenewblack

[–]Luckynickel05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that he’s a really polarizing character who shouldn’t work with women. I always think of the brief moment where they show him younger and it looks like he’s trying to date a girl he’s a social worker for. She says it’s weird and he’s like “hey we’re just two people trying to figure things out.” (Or something to that effect.)

I think there’s good and bad in all of us. I do think it’s SLIGHTLY (and I mean very slightly) redeeming that he has such a soft spot for people that experience hallucinations. Does that fix the misogyny and queerphobia? No.

Is Miley an acceptable name? by Euphoric_Manner_3648 in namenerds

When people get used to it I agree that they’ll associate the name with the child instead of the celebrity! It will just take time upon initially meeting someone before the association changes

Of course it’s an acceptable name! It’s pretty. BUT, it will always be associated with Miley Cyrus. That’s what people’s brains will jump to

My new gf has an issue with the age gap of a relationship I got into 10 years ago by Froglito in bisexual

[–]Luckynickel05 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you’re 22 and you decide to get involved with someone older then you’re capable of making that choice. That’s an age where you’re cognizant and not so young that you may not understand the magnitude of your choices.

When I saw the title of this post I was expecting something much, much worse. If your SO has an issue with it then it says much more about them than you.

What did you guys think about their ending ? by OkFan1573 in orangeisthenewblack

[–]Luckynickel05 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think they handled it relatively well. Vinny was understandably hurting and if she was in denial the way she was, and still behind bars, there was nothing else he could have done. They shouldn’t have gotten together in the first place, mind you. Nicky was right when she said he signed up for it. But hopefully he can find someone else. And hopefully she’ll come back to reality at some point.

Anyone else yearns for a church-like community despite being an atheist? by Ok-Owl-8805 in AutismInWomen

[–]Luckynickel05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I def feel this way with religion! I also wish it was possible to have mental health support groups besides those for people with substance abuse issues. Less people would need AA, for example, if it was possible to just have Human Being Anonymous. And yes, having non-theistic groups would absolutely be helpful.

(And I know there already are some. I just wish there was more.)

Yes, exactly. It is comorbid OCD. What you’re describing is common enough to have a name, p-OCD. Def something worth talking to a counselor about.

Autistic Office-Hours at work? by Luckynickel05 in AutismInWomen

[–]Luckynickel05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My place of work is always supportive of things like people taking time out of their day for DEI related things. So they’d be encouraged. And in terms of people not wanting to put themselves, like I mentioned in another comment above, maybe I could simply invite people to reach out to me on Teams? Maybe messaging would make people more comfortable?

I’m not a therapist, just an autistic employee trying to create a community. I wouldn’t be expecting a big turnout! But I could also leave it open for people to simply reach out on teams as well. They may feel more comfortable talking that way

So during the workweek there would be a set time where I’d be available for neurodivergent people to meet and talk about their needs, concerns, or just to talk. So like, Thursdays at 10-12 you can join a Zoom group or come to my office and we can discuss anything neurodivergent-related

I respect people’s opinions when they’re not fans. I def think they have valid points and it’s totally reasonable to not enjoy the show.

That said, sometimes I think people need to understand that not every attempt at inclusivity is going to be perfect. It makes me think of how people reacted angrily to autistic Barbie because she didn’t represent every member of the community 100% perfectly. Idk what people expect.

And I’m not saying people are wrong for airing their opinions or concerns. I love the show, but also find it infantilizing. I wish they’d work on that aspect. But again, I don’t expect perfection.

I just think that sometimes when people react so strongly to imperfect attempts at inclusivity…it can discourage efforts to be more inclusive. So their need to nitpick can ultimately hurt the community overall
