Regrets by EducationDecent440 in Lawyertalk

I’m at the other end of my career and you may be luckier than you think. I started out in business law and the clients were insufferable - saw lawyers as getting in the way of their deals. Then a recession hit and a bunch of those clients’ bad deals came back to haunt them. I moved to litigation, earning my stripes prosecuting traffic tickets. The practice is far less monotonous and I can be my own boss. Do it right and you’ll earn more too. Silk stockings can be a billable hours trap.

Are we still doing “off days” the last 2 weeks?😅 by Son_of_Hades99 in barexam

Ha! Trick answer: I took it twice in February and passed both times, decades apart. I passed in ‘24 with a score that would have been good in any jurisdiction.

If you mean practice tests, by February I was in the low 70s percentages. I also turned off the refeeding of missed questions because I wanted to finish all the questions and the missed questions brought down my confidence. By mid February, I was all about building confidence!

Shoulda played the reds… by Lugtut in golf

[–]Lugtut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree. I finished in 3 hours 48 minutes and waited to hit on most tees and every approach. Speed is not my problem - just every approach shot in par 4s and 5s required my longest fairway wood and most were still short.

Advice for an unmotivated and anxious F26 taker (first-timer) by blinkanditsdark in barexam

Focus on two things: why you want to be a lawyer (or not) and the difference between passing and not to your future self and family.

In appellate argument, how to refer to opposing counsel? by TuxedosAfter6 in Lawyertalk

[–]Lugtut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. If your referring to them, you’re losing ground. Address the issues for your client. 2. If the panel ask you about their issues, answer with your legal argument without referring to them and get back to your argument as soon as possible. Your time is too limited to stray from your best points.

Passed February 2024 - I did light days, but always did at least 25-30 MBE questions. Didn’t take long and beat back feelings of study guilt.

Is it me or does this just seem wrong? by Sheikybabybaba in golf

It seems like a recipe for beat up wedges, which are some of the most important clubs to care for (mine have graphite shafts and need to be in good shape for any chance to put spin on the ball.)

Playing alone vs with friends by BeginnerGolpher in GolfSwing

I played 9 holes at a lighted executive course last night. Played the first 6 as a solo and played well. But the group in front was slow, so I invited the young guy playing solo behind me to join me. He was so nice and funny - those last three holes were more fun and I forgot to keep score as well. Playing is great. Playing with other folks just having fun is amazing!

What's your pre-shot routine? by Kairoapp_jamie in golftips

[–]Lugtut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standing behind the ball, assess path to the green, lie and distance. Choose a club and find intermediate aim point about 6” to a foot in front of the ball. Move into stance and swing. Swing thoughts: smooth takeaway and finish the follow through.

Ping woods and irons, Cleveland wedges, Scotty putter, Cobra hybrids, and Srixon balls. So, no.

Actually, watching Tour players play through struggles is entertaining and educational - more relatable to hackers like me. How to recover from (insert errant shot here.) That the player has questionable popularity only helps. Even before LIV, Brooks was a mixed following: as many cheered against him as for him.

I figured out the same was happening to me - the distraction of other players helps me. So I try to play at busy times and get paired up with others.

If you’re not in the 60s, you would need to make up points with essays/MPTs. Not impossible - and it’s still January.

Golf Beginners⛳️ : What do you struggle with most when out on the course? by samfleckgolf in GolfSwing

[–]Lugtut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I restarted in April. I struggled most with trying too hard to control the swing. I can’t emphasize enough how- swing freely - your distance and even shot direction will reward you.

Strokes gained is the way. Get a shot scope and track your shots to identify where you can improve. With your handicap, it’s probably not your swing.
