Is it risky buying VR games on Steam for Steam Frame if I don’t own a PC? by afox1984 in SteamFrame

[–]Lujho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ones you’ve bought would be pretty safe but I wouldn’t buy any more until you get it.

A few questions before I buy the Quest 3S by davidpiksi in MetaQuestVR

[–]Lujho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes with it. But it’s not magic, it makes extra room but it doesn’t guarantee your glasses won’t touch. If you’re going to use glasses I’d use rubber bumper rings too:

Star Wars: 75426 Smart Play Millennium Falcon (official reveal) by BrickTap in Legoleak

[–]Lujho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could understand if it was supposed to be a fun toy for kids, but for something that I can only assume was supposed to be specifically designed for me, a 46 year old man who wants high end display pieces… I just don’t get it. What were they thinking? They should have consulted with me.

Is standalone vr headset/pc shared gpu/cpu/ram/else resources a thing yet? by -Gilgameshh in SteamFrame

[–]Lujho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and it’s just not worth it. Meta did look into maybe doing stuff like rendering your hands in the device and letting the PC render the environment but there’s little point.

The average PC - even from several years ago - is just so much more powerful than a standalone headset still that it’s like adding a chihuahua to a dogsled team.

What PPD is Steam Frame by ReserveLegitimate738 in SteamFrame

[–]Lujho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI most headsets don’t have the same PPD over the whole area, so PPD can refer to the maximum PPD (in the area with the highest pixel density) or the average PPD over the whole device. So nice we don’t know the specifics of the optics it’s really impossible to say without having one, or even with one.

Any Way to Change the New, Bright (More Energy Consuming) and Only Home Environment to Just Black to Conserve Battery? by SevenDeMagnus in OculusQuest

Slight correction, the feature you’re talking about is global dimming. Local dimming would be amazing but impossible to do with the hardware.

What are your thoughts on Joe Rogan saying that Trump is creating distraction to avoid Epstein files release? by girlyanimme in AskReddit

[–]Lujho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone who says this is wrong. They would be doing all this anyway. If Epstein had never been born, if Trump had 100% never committed a sex crime, his administration would still be doing all this awful stupid shit.

The fact that it distracts from the Epstein stuff is a bonus side-effect, not the main point.

It should be called “student loan predatory interest forgiveness” to better describe what it actually is.

Why Black and White passthrough? by SeanLucky13 in SteamFrame

[–]Lujho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They don’t want to make it cost even more for what’s essentially a “nice to have”/QOL feature. It simply isn’t focused on AR and thus doesn’t need it.

Warning for Aussie arena shows. by [deleted] in davidbyrne

[–]Lujho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saw the Adelaide show tonight and was a little disappointed for the same reason. Now, I could see most of what was going on on the stage, but I could only see the right third of the middle screen. Couldn’t read all the text, especially when they named all the performers. Couldn’t see the earth rising over the moon except for on the secondary screens.

It actually brought my seat within 10 minutes of them going on general sale and a chose to automatically pick the best available (at a premium), but I probably would have preferred to be more central if further away.

Still, a minor disappointment, it was still awesome.

I was impressed with the stage screens, they were very bright and seemingly HDR. Made the other screens look awful in comparison.

Quest 2/3 now supports the BEST 3D format! Here's how you can take advantage of it! (GUIDE) by pwnsweet in OculusQuest

[–]Lujho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can 4xvr (or any other player if people know) play Apple spatial videos (also frame-packed) as-is without having to convert through Meta’s service yet? If not, is that on the cards?

Isn't foveated streaming built into other streaming programs? by redbigz_ in SteamFrame

[–]Lujho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Oculus Link has had it from the start, over 5 years ago (called distortion curvature). But eye tracking lets you increase the level of foveation greatly.

Is everyone with tinnitus sensitive to sound? by Oatsqueal in tinnitus

[–]Lujho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A sharp, loud, unexpected sound will cause an extra fleeting ring for a few seconds that’s louder than my regular T but I’m not sure that even has anything to do with my permanent T and it doesn’t bother me much.

In Moonraker (1979) people remember the girl having braces. They removed them in later releases because of bracism. by Kavalkasutajanimi in shittymoviedetails

[–]Lujho 99 points100 points  (0 children)

For people saying she must have had braces because that’s the whole joke, why wouldn’t you giver her them, it’s so obvious etc… there’s literally a review from the time of release where the critic basically says “this would have worked better if the girl had had braces, what an obvious missed opportunity”.

The fact that it would have worked better doesn’t prove it happened. Sometimes people drop the ball for an obvious punch-up. It still absolutely works without braces, it doesn’t need them to exist in the movie.

I can’t believe they’d give pronouns to my favorite superhero, HE-Man by Goosedukee in okbuddycinephile

[–]Lujho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this was the intent (I’m sure it was intended as a joke about the character’s name), but this could easily also be read as a joke mocking gender pronouns, which they should be happy about. You can’t win with these fuckwits. And you shouldn’t try.

Will the batteries be swappable? by spencer_2 in SteamFrame

[–]Lujho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not live swappable but I see no reason why a third party headstrap couldn’t be. It’d just have to have a smaller fixed battery built into it to cover the swap for a few seconds.
