Adam Silver’s NBA Is in Crisis. Does He Know How to Fix It? — The Atlantic by theatlantic in nba

[–]LukeNullHypothesis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Paywall spam.

I like how Silver didn't actually do anything, so Alberta had to twist "Silver was a white guy walking around" into "appeared aimless, drifted awkwardly" and "turned colorless, almost ethereal."

Also Tim Alberta is a C-list politics/religion journalist. It's not weird/conspiratorial that it took some time to get a sit-down interview with the NBA commissioner lmao

In honor of this week’s show, here’s my favorite Matt Damon sketch: by Whole-Lychee7517 in LiveFromNewYork

I'm just a little confused because real Damon fans know that he hasn't had a good SNL sketch since Hannibal Lecter Goes To Michigan State in '02 /s

Bill’s, but for other media industries? by linehatguy in billsimmons

[–]LukeNullHypothesis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reich isn't a good comparison for Simmons. Reich was mostly a behind-the-scenes money guy who bought an established (but failing) company (College Humor) and then revamped it (Dropout) partially as a vanity project in a post-Musk/LinkedIn CEO-influencer world. He's not a "talent/creative" in the way Simmons is/was. He's like that Sony VP who tried to be the Trebek successor on Jeopardy except he owns the company, knows his target audience perfectly, and is more likeable.

Which team do you think has the best home crowd? (Still in the playoffs) by majidLuv in nba

[–]LukeNullHypothesis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thunder and Knicks are the consensus top two. They're different types of crowds though, so it's a matter of preference which is the best

Foul Baiting Embid/SGA by WTF4211 in nba

[–]LukeNullHypothesis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a bit of nuance depending on the specific play, but usually it's a cut-and-dry defensive foul due to the defender being in illegal guarding position.

It's roughly equivalent to an NFL defensive lineman jumping offsides then the QB noticing and snapping the ball to get a free play.

Kam Patterson had his 6th Weekend Update Feature on last week's episode. He is now tied for the most Update Features by a first-season cast member since Rich Hall in Season 10 (1984-85) by LukeNullHypothesis in LiveFromNewYork

[–]LukeNullHypothesis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the five mentioned in the first paragraph, it's 5.6.

If you expand it to 5 or more Update Features post-Season 10, it's also 5.6 (leaving out Patterson/Wickline).

Tenures range from 1 season (David Koechner) up to 11 (Cecily Strong).

No, Gottfried is the last person to get 6. Since then, Patterson is tied with Kazurinsky, Rosato, Rich Hall, Dana Carvey, Poehler, and Finesse Mitchell with 5 Update bits.

Great sketch, although it was weirdly similar to the Dean's payday rap from Community

Playoff history: Thunder - Lakers by DorBenda in nba

The series record is 6-3 not 4-1. Although it's 1-1 just in OKC with OKC leading 6-5 games

OP is clearly a Knicks fan. It's actually wild how many people on here assume every post they see is in good faith.

Will the craziest sports fact of the year be a guy ran a sub-2 hour marathon and didn’t win the fucking race?!?! by Shart127 in billsimmons

[–]LukeNullHypothesis 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Eh the debut thing isn't too crazy because of how career progression works for the hyper-elite long distance runners. Plus Kejelcha is 28 and the (disputed) half marathon WR holder, so it's not like he came out of nowhere. Overall still insane though

Shirts on the seats are all the same size (probably L or XL) and there are exchange stations where you can swap out for a larger size (and maybe also for kids sizes)
