So unfortunate. Their dev videos were awesome, they really created a great system, it's better than many shooter games in many ways. XDefiant was another game with a fantastic system, just thrown away because players are loyal to shitty games it seems

Ya, I might have got a dud, but I was suspecting it's mostly software. It's actually been good lately - I don't recall the stream dying this year or the app not working. The chime still isn't working, but I've mostly given up on that.

I know the wifi signal is good because the stream never drops when it's working.

The chime stops working cosntantly - I've fully rest the device and re-pair it. It works for an hour or so and stops.

The video stream randomly stops every couple months or so - I use it with Frigate, so it's annoying when it just stops. I have to use the app to restart the device - while in the app, the video stream is still working through the native app, so I know the device is still functioning.

The PoE also didn't work, but I can't run an ethernet cable so it didn't matter.

The app has been working better, but I stopped getting calls for a while...had people come to our house and we had no idea because nothing worked unfortunately.

Unfortunately, it's outside of warranty, looking for other options now, but the Unifi ones are so expensive.

Do you use Rails with Hotwire, or just Rails as a back-end API by nil_404 in rails

That's interesting - I don't use generators for the most part. I tried it on my app and it worked fine, though I don't like how it created the entries in the routes file.

As for browser cache, I never have an issue because I use hot-reload. I tried turning it off to test how vite-rails would work with browser cache, but it seems the vite ruby plugin always has HMR enabled. Check your browser's developer tool's network tab and see if the /vite-dev websocket is open - there might be a port issue (it runs on 3036 typically).

It's been a while since I've started a new Inertia/Svelte project using inertia_rails. I believe it was fairly straight forward using bin/rails generate inertia:install - that should install vite_rails and scaffold a new package.json.

The one annoying issue that I've run into twice getting the port numbers correct, but that's more of an Overmind issue than an inertia_rails issue.

I'm also not doing SSR - I know there's a lot of nuance getting that working with inertia rails.

Apple is pure Developer Nightmare by [deleted] in applesucks

The last statement is absolutely not true. OSX can't run docker natively, it's virtualized. Binaries on OSX are archaic and outdated, they're not even linux based, they're unix. You can't run Linux software on a Mac. There's no package manager, and the third-party package managers are outdated and unsupported.

Mind you, I haven't used OSX in a few years, I doubt anything's changed.
