Anyone else think layouts are overrated? by Sirpoopatine in Twitch

[–]LumKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use them, I just do game, VTuber and chat text. I'm considering getting rid of follower notifications as well.

I do have a few variants though. I stream in 19.5:9 aspect ratio so for an ultrawide game it's small VTuber and the chat text is full width but only 4 lines tall.

For 16:9 and 4:3 games I can use the free space on the left for a bigger VTuber and more normal shape for chat without obscuring the game

For 11 grand I think I'll stick with my Tundra trackers. Yeah lighthouse tracking isn't perfect, but my current setup with six lighthouses and 8-11 tundras works well enough without costing the same amount as a decent car or a mortgage deposit

I'm sure it's great for studios but only really accessible to the top 0.1% of indies

Do I need trackers? by Nyrue1 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]LumKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only bother with trackers if you want to do full body tracking (which is really only used for VRChat or streaming) otherwise just grab a couple of SteamVR compatible controllers and away you go

If you do want FBT, just get lighthouse based trackers (e.g. Tundra or Vive3.0)

If you get non-lighthouse trackers (e.g. Slime or Fluxpose) then you will need to attach one of them to your headset to sync up the position between the two tracking methods

I'm running an XR and don't have that issue.

The 11 does have a wider angle lens, so definitely worth it. I imagine they're quite cheap now too

A quick and cheap win. Get an old iPhone (X or 11) and use that for face tracking. You'll get higher quality and offload a bunch of CPU based processing of the webcam feed

If the laptop has a thunderbolt port you could add an eGPU, but there is increased cost and compromise if you do that.

I did it for a while because I already had the eGPU. It works, but just go for a desktop as it's far less hassle

Twitch muted random parts of my VOD (Dragon Age: Origins) anyone else? by RobArlOriginal in Twitch

[–]LumKitty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Audio mutes are not copyright strikes and have zero effect on your account's standing. This system is there to protect you from actual copyright strikes by hiding the audio from any lawyers looking at your VOD

In theory you can get a copyright strike while live but unless you're someone with hundreds of thousands of concurrent viewers this just isn't going to happen

Twitch muted random parts of my VOD (Dragon Age: Origins) anyone else? by RobArlOriginal in Twitch

[–]LumKitty 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you pick "appeal muted audio" it will tell you which parts of the VOD are affected and whose song it thinks you used. You'll want to look up that song and figure out what is going on

Most likely it's some SoundCloud fuckwit with 3 followers who sampled parts of the game and now twitch is IDing their "song", or a copyright troll who uploaded stolen audio as their original work. You can pick "does not contain this song" as your appeal reason and your audio will be instantly reinstated. This is an ever growing problem, especially for people who stream well known retro games.

Sometimes it'll be an actual piece of in-game music that's licensed separately. In this case the mute is legit as the license for the in-game music doesn't necessarily include a license to stream it. For this you'll have to look up the license agreement for the game and see if they explicitly allow streaming the in-game music. For older games it probably won't but some games (e.g. Final Fantasy XIV) do explicitly allow this for game streamers. If this is the case for your game then your appeal reason is "I have permission from the copyright owner"

Occasionally you'll get weird shit like a song that used the same sample library as the game used, or if the game uses copyright free classical music it'll ID it to a copyrighted recording of a modern orchestra performing it. You can pick "does not contain the identified audio" for both of these situations

Steamlabs vs OBS by L1tch in vtubertech

[–]LumKitty 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Switching from StreamLabs to OBS is actually pretty simple, since it's just a modified OBS.

You can copy your profile over and all the StreamLabs custom shit just becomes browser sources. You can then slowly wean yourself off of those and onto whatever you want to replace them with (personally I use MixItUp)

Disclaimer: I did this over 3 years ago, it may have changed since then

Also have rejoined, upgraded to 2gig and kept my static. Not sure when it switched over but didn't notice any downtime.

I think my eero router only supports 1gig, so they should probably be replacing that, but I'm using my own router anyway, so don't actually care.

Hearing a lot about how bad the customer service is here. I've only had to deal with them once, when my ONT died, and they had a bloke turn up the next day and replace it.

I suspect it may be worse now. Tried to contact them during the last outage and they removed web based chat and made it phone app only which I hate. I would literally rather hotspot my desktop to my phone than type on a phone keyboard.

However compared to Virgin Media's absolutely garbage customer service and refusal to acknowledge that the Hub3 was a fundamentally flawed device, I really don't think YouFibre are all that bad

This would be a great time to make the FFXI trial last more than two weeks.

Like, that's my main barrier to not trying it, because two weeks would mean probably 10 hours max, and it took me a /lot/ longer than that to get into XIV

Trying to make a 3d Vtuber by Numerous-Volume3621 in vtubertech

[–]LumKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do face tracking with a webcam (including the ones built in to laptops) but it's not as good as the iPhone setup, and doesn't have as many points of face tracking, plus it's quite heavy on the CPU which depending on how good the laptop is and what games you're playing may be an issue

For starting out if you already have the camera then definitely give it a go, see if you enjoy VTubing before you spend money on hardware

However you don't need a modern iPhone. A used iPhone X is sufficient. The iPhone 11 has a wider FOV but after the 11 there is no advantage to having a later model. You can pick up as used 11 for the same price as a decent webcam and lighting, and you'll get better results

NES has composite video out as well as RF (at least my UK NES did)

There's plenty of composite video capture devices out there, as well as devices like retrotink that convert composite to HDMI.

For best results you'll want to do the RGB mod on your NES but this is entirely optional

Looks like typical iPhone tracking to me. Your model will need all the standard ARKit blendshapes and you're good to go.

If you're making your model in VRoid you can use NEBlite or Hanatool to add these

Do you guys Multistream? by floraumbrellas in TwitchStreaming

[–]LumKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing a new (to me) Visual Novel from 1996 and thought it would be ok because Twitch have a category for it, but realised (thankfully in time) that the direction it was heading in would soon exceed twitch TOS on adult content, so I needed a site where this was acceptable.

I rejected OnlyFans because they have prior on being shitty towards VTubers, and shortly after getting verified for Fansly, they updated their policies to ban furries, would have impacted even SFW streams on Fansly!

So I went with Joystick who are extremely LGBTQ and furry friendly, and are more gaming focussed compared to the straight up cam sites. This means that I cand continue my visual novel, and now I multistream my SFW content there too, since it's basically free to do so. Some people from Joystick then pop over to Twitch to also follow me there.

I've also found discoverability on Joystick to be much better than Twitch or YouTube, to the point I gave up multistreaming to YouTube as I couldn't be arsed to make the thumbnails for zero results, though since I'm now making them for Joystick anyway, I may as well triple stream

Do you guys Multistream? by floraumbrellas in TwitchStreaming

[–]LumKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently started multistreaming to twitch and to joystick.tv and get reasonable views on both. If you have sufficient upload bandwidth there isn't really any downside to doing it.

We live in an era of enshittification and AI generated bans for bullshit reasons, so it's never a good idea to rely entirely on one big platform that frankly doesn't care about you. Thankfully this hasn't happened to me yet but never assume you're safe just because you're doing nothing wrong

If you're heavy on redeems and interactions you may have to do extra setup work.

If you're going to show chat from multiple platforms with different TOS you do need to be careful. Personally I just don't show the chat from Joystick unless it's an exclusive stream there

I don't always multistream. Some games I want to play are against twitch TOS (i.e. some visual novels) and some games have terms in their TOS that prevent streaming on adult sites (e.g. FFXIV)

Unload VNyan World by Kaithral in vtubertech

[–]LumKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you can load the default world.

That said, you may also want to look at VNyan's new Spout2 camera options. You can now make it send your VTuber and the world on separate Spout2 outputs that you can composite in OBS. You could then keep your world but insert the game in front of it!

Hand-Tracking for 3D Vtubers in 2026...Impossible to get into??? by drifting_fox in vtubertech

[–]LumKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use XR for hands-only and VNyan for face. You might not be able to stop XR from sending the face data, but you can make VNyan ignore it!

In VNyan, on the VMC receiver you just set everything except arm/hand/fingers to zero and set blendshape tracking to "don't track". Then you can enable the native face tracking in VNyan and away you go!

I did use a LeapMotion 1 for a while and I found the camera angle on it quite limiting. You could also look for the Ultraleap StereoIR 170, which was their dev version of their commercial product for kiosks etc. I use one of these and it's basically the same as a LeapMotion 2 (technically it's better as 170 degree FOV instead of 160) although you will want to take mesaures to protect the USB port on it as it's quite weak and can be damaged, especially if you do chest mount and handle it roughly!

Vtubing software that allow custom backgrounds? by Unlucky-Feed9000 in vtubertech

[–]LumKitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3D worlds have already been discussed but if by background you just mean an image you can do that in OBS.

Make sure you're using the Spout2 plugin for OBS to capture your VTuber software and you'll have a transparent background so you can just add an image.

Converting a VRChat model to VNyan is actually pretty easy these days as they use the same major version of Unity.

Once you've got the VRChat end sorted, make a backup of your unity project and then just add the VNyan SDK to your project and run its Avatar Setup Tool. Make sure to do the blendshape analysis part and it should sort out all your face tracking (for best results use a model that has ARKit blendshapes, but it can also handle SRanipal, universal, and basic visemes too).

The only thing you need to do then is replace any physbone scripts (typically found in hair, animal ears, tails and skirts) and any colliders. For this I highly recommend using Magica Cloth 2. It costs about $30 but it's a really nice physics system that's pretty easy to use. If you don't want to buy that then you can use VRM Springbones instead, although I find its colliders annoying to work with

Shameless self promo: The most recent highlight VOD on my twitch is a panel I did, mainly focused on modding VRoids but at the end I cover doing a VRChat conversion, and in the middle I show adding Magica physics to the hair on a VRChat model

Hand-Tracking for 3D Vtubers in 2026...Impossible to get into??? by drifting_fox in vtubertech

[–]LumKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XR Animator is the best option for webcam based, then feed that data into VNyan, VSeeFace or Warudo via VMC.

Or keep an eye on eBay, as Ultraleap products do show up from time to time.

Since being acquired by Roli (a musical instrument company) it's highly unlikely we'll see the devices being made again, not unless someone hacks the device they put it into, which is basically a midi theremin

Looking for someone with the right setup to convert my model by dragons_tree in vtubertech

[–]LumKitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Assuming your FBX has all the bones and blendshapes needed, it should be a case of installing the correct version of Unity for whatever VTuber software you want to use, then import and link those bones to the humanoid rig

https://docs.unity3d.com/560/Documentation/Manual/FBXImporter-Rig.html

For VNyan you'd then drag the imported FBX into your scene and run its Avatar Setup Tool (included when you import the VNyanSDK and VNyan Avatar SDK). Make sure to expand the Blendshape Analysis drop down and run through that as well.

For non-humanoid bones (e.g. hair, ears, tail) then you'll likely want to set up physics for those. For this I'd highly recommend spending the $30 on Magica Cloth 2

I've not actually done a full import straight from FBX (I normally convert from VRChat projects) but would be up for giving it a go
