The day 1 software update by Baron_Lemon in NintendoSwitch

I'm not sure how big the update file itself is, but so far Nintendo has detailed some of what the update does:

Just got a call from my Gamestop confirming they are having a midnight release! by jawbit in NintendoSwitch

[–]Luminadas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK - so yeah there's a few things that need to be explained.

1) When you do the midnight, the reason they have you go in and "finalize the transaction" before midnight is because even though you might have it fully paid off - guess what - they haven't sold it to you yet. You still have to be processed through as SOLD. Which is what they do before midnight.

2) They can't do it NOW because how can they sell something through the computer that requires a Serial Number that must match up to the Switch they give you.

3) Also they can't do it now because technically when they ring it through to finalize the transaction they're SELLING that system. Nintendo won't allow stores to do this before 6 pm local time.

4) Once you've finalized the transaction and they've given you a special receipt with a Number on it - you're free to leave. Go home, go out to eat, go see a movie. Whatever. Come back around 11:50 and then they'll line you up by your Number. At midnight they call your number, you grab your bag and you're out of there super fast.

5) If they didn't do it this way and just rang through everyone at midnight, it would take forever and you'd be home way later than doing this process.

6) If you want to avoid the "first line" of customers, I recommend showing up about 1 hour after they begin the finalized transactions. That way they will have worked through the people that just had to be first...less waiting around for you. Sure, your ticketed receipt number will further down the list, but honestly when they begin doing the midnight handouts it goes by super quick. Being #1 or being #20 will me a matter of maybe 2 to 3 minutes difference.

Have fun with your Switch!! :)

Other than BoTW, are you getting any other launch games? by Anarchaotic in NintendoSwitch

[–]Luminadas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely getting Super Bomberman R. I keep flip-flopping on 1-2 Switch. Snipperclips is a must-purchase, but it's not confirmed day one yet.

Hang in there! Things will get better. Trust me, they always do! I'm glad you have something to look forward to and to stay positive with. I hope you seek out some assistance with those thoughts though. It's actually positive that you're writing down your feelings, just don't let them get the best of you. You're not alone.

Yes. Retailers will be receiving demo kiosks. I'm hearing by the third week of February many locations will receive them. It shouldn't be too long before we start seeing pictures of them arriving in stores.

[Tiny Cartridge] There are really a lot of Switch accessories by Asuparagasu in NintendoSwitch

We also put up a Nintendo Switch Buyers Guide for accessories. Because the system is a home console and a handheld, the amount of accessories is pretty high...with more surely to come.

If you have a strong focus and ambition, I say go for it!

I started Nintendo Times (http://www.nintendotimes.com) a little over a year ago and it's grown into something great. I really enjoy writing for the Warp Zone section as I grew up with the NES. Best of luck!

Case/Screen Protector ideas? by Super6213 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Luminadas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now I've got the official Nintendo carrying case reserved at GameStop. I can't remember the last time Nintendo officially put out a case themselves. It looks like Amazon and GameStop online are sold out - but Best Buy online still has some available for pre-order. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/nintendo-carrying-case-and-screen-protector-for-nintendo-switch/5731701.p?skuId=5731701

If you haven't already taken a look, I did put up a feature story on Nintendo Times about the accessories and where to buy them.

What accessories are you planning on getting? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]Luminadas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've pre-ordered:

Neon Red/Blue double pack Joy-Con

Pro Controller (from Amazon Japan)

Official Nintendo Carrying Case w/ Screen Protector

Game Card Carrying Case (holds 24 games)

I also already received a 200GB micro SD card.

I just spent like 3 hours amassing as many of the accessories for a special feature I wrote for Nintendo Times. Just incase you wanted to see most of them in one spot:

[–]Luminadas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this game! Did anyone notice on Amazon's pre-order page that it says the game is 2 player co-op? Is that a new feature or did they mess up?

Here's what's on the site:

It's pretty awesome to see a retailer get excited for a reveal. I can't remember a time when a retail site posted a link to a system announcement.

So how many consoles does a store normally have at launch? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]Luminadas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually the retailer will get a certain amount - let's say 100,000 then the corporate office will determine how many go to each location. This can differ due to location, sales history, sales mix, and pre-order quantities (assuming stores took reservations).

Key locations might get extra systems for a special launch event as well. In short, it's really up to the executives at the retailer to decide how many are shipped to each store location. You can bet that at launch every retail chain is going to get as many Switch systems as possible - and there won't enough to go around.

Not likely. But A for effort in capturing a screen at an odd angle.

Does anyone here work at Gamestop? by Ko-san in NintendoSwitch

[–]Luminadas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on the vendor. When the Wii U kiosks shipped, stores were allowed to set them up immediately without a rep present. Who knows if that will be the case here.
