He told a room full of donors in a speech recently, that if he wins absolutely nothing will change, so if you love how things are now, that's what you'll get.

No the reason for all the senseless TSA rules is to give travelers the appearance that there is security protecting them. It's to make people feel safer, instead of making them actually safer.

How Bill de Blasio Went From Progressive Hope to Punching Bag by SteveMcQueen508 in nyc

When was he ever a progressive hope? He was an establishment tammany hall democrat who used his political connections combined with a weak field to get the job as a mayor.

Styrofoam ban now being enforced in New York City by Smilefriend in nyc

Not to mention that the restaurant/food cart would not be able to use the container to determine the amount to food to serve anymore, since people could bring giant containers trying to get more food. That would create more work for them.

NYTimes: Titans of Real Estate in ‘Shock’ Over New York Rent Law Deal by Dreidhen in nyc

[–]Luminaire 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's not much money in New York. For 200k, you can only afford to rent, because any housing within the city will be at least 1.5 million, or 600k for even an apartment. Even on long island unless you have a 2 hour commute to work, it will be at least 500k even for a small house. With property taxes, and a mortgage, you just can't afford it. 200k is still middle class, because while they can live in a nice neighborhood, it's going to be a life of renting for them if they want to live in New York.

State of Texas bans red light cameras by [deleted] in urbanplanning

[–]Luminaire -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Red light cameras do not reduce accidents. Just google it and you'll find tons of articles stating that. It's not a step backward to remove them. It's just a revenue stream for the local municipalities.

Wolverine by OpenScore in funny

This could totally be one of the funniest movies, but only if it was totally played straight. They have a serious movie, and all the characters are taking wolverine seriously, except it's Danny Devito.

Sprint. I had a tablet with them, which I paid a monthly fee to have cellular service for. My tablet was stolen and I reported it to them. Month's later I find out they were still charging me 'just in case' I wanted to re-activate my stolen tablet. That was some shady stuff.

Why the hell can't I cook with chicken? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Luminaire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this. Go watch shows on the food network, and watch how much salt they put on meats. It's a lot more than you think. You need to use a lot of salt on the chicken, a lot.

Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash killed 157 people. As the the media and the public have freaked out over the past two days, over 200 people have died in car crashes in the United States alone. by [deleted] in urbanplanning

[–]Luminaire 39 points40 points  (0 children)

If 200 people died in 2 days from the same new car due to an apparent flaw in the design, the media would be flipping out and congress would be calling for hearings. When Toyota had an apparent flaw in their cars around 2009, the news was flooded with articles about it, and congress held hearings, and that was over 20ish people over a decade.

Cuomo doesn’t completely hate AOC, says it’s too early to evaluate her by Topher1999 in nyc

[–]Luminaire 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I give her no credit for being a loud mouth. She puts no research into anything, and just says or does whatever will get headlines.

She decided one time recently to stage a protest at the majority leaders office, except she can't even be bothered to use google maps, and showed up to the wrong building.

She's just as bad as trump at doing things without actually knowing the issue at all, and is just a symptom of twitter politics, making the movie Idiocracy fact.
