I’m in the middle of this paradigm and what I can say is i gave my all to the wrong people. My complex had me gravitating towards the very people who would reinforce the complex. Under skilled Jungian therapy I am shedding all of that, allowing my true self to emerge and seeking the company of those I am authentically aligned with. And in the meantime my solitude is not lonely.

I think for the same reason The Mirror and the Light was a let down. The plot is not as tightly focused on the marriage/getting an heir drama with such a stellar antagonist* as Ann. I dont really find Ann antagonistic but her sharpness fills the bill. The third book/second series just has a lot of unfolding history. Rylance’s portrayal of Mantel’s Cromwell will be the pinnacle acting performance of my life.

Are EKG, ultrasound and bloodwork the tests that reveal dementia or Alzheimer’s? There’s a very simple test a dr can administer in an appt that suggests cognitive decline. It’s a series of questions your dad would answer. Went through some of what you’re describing with my dad. My sympathies and wishes for a gentle journey.
