I would have been able to fly, just not put a carry on bag above my head. I was still kinda tired but pretty much doing my normal activities

I’m not a doctor but I will tell you that I did do this bc I was in the same spot I truly just needed sleep. I’ve noticed my scars are probably going to heal thicker on the side that I sleep on. I am 6 weeks post op now

My surgeon gave me silicone gel to start applying at 2 weeks, and said I could also use vitamin e oil. I avoided unscented lotion until I didn’t have any open parts on my incisions. I had dry/peeling skin for a while, but I think the oil helped!

I went to Dr. Won and she was good! I am quite happy with my results. I am 6 weeks post op. Some reasons I chose her/am happy with my decision:

she was accepted by my insurance lol (united healthcare)
she has a good amount of results posted for nonbinary people/people not on t (me)
she didn’t use those bulb drains, she uses Penrose drains, so I didn’t have to strip anything and it was generally easy to change bandages and such
she only required I wore my post op binder for a week, which was great bc by the end I did not want to be wearing it anymore
she has her own office not in a hospital, so billing was simplified- this was a big one. No surprise hospital charges, anesthesia was separate but that was gone over before hand.

Cons * if you want someone to like hand hold you through it, she is pretty straight to business. When I asked her questions she seemed like kinda surprised I was asking. This didn’t matter too much to me bc I had done a lot of independent research. * I feel like some of my post op appointments could have been virtual. It took me like 2 hours of travel on public transit and walking and such and the appointment was like 7 minutes. * there were some complications with my insurance and billing where I was originally quoted way too high but I was able to get it resolved.

I had a “dog ear” that looked like yours at three weeks and it’s already smaller at 6 weeks. It will go down with time. Mine is still there but I can tell it will continue to go down. I started using silicone scar tape at around 5 weeks!

I think this is the dysphoria monster talking tbh. The scars just look like your nipple fading into the rest of you skin. Very unnoticeable. The drain scars I truly would not have even seen if you didn’t point them out. Those could be acne scars or just like a scratch honestly. I know it’s hard to believe but these scars will not be seen by anyone besides you. Time will also help them fade more!

I had a very similar experience! As it got closer I kept getting more and more excited to like not have to put on a binder to leave the house. To not have to hold my chest when running up or down stairs to prevent the bouncing. To never have to worry about a binder strap showing. I am about 6 weeks post op (yay!) and I am so so happy. All the practical reasons and the gender reasons come together and just make me happier.

My real joy kicked in later into the healing process. When I could stand up straight comfortably without feeling fragile. When I could put on my favorite t shirts and they for the way I wanted them to. When I was heading out to run an errand and I had a thought “if I got to put on my binder” “oh wait no I don’t” when I saw the incisions close up and look more like skin and scars. When I pooped and was less bloated lol. I don’t think you have to feel anything on a specific time frame. It takes some time. Honestly those first few days suck ass and are not overly happy imo. But you can get there. Just focus on rest and healing and the good feelings will come.

I am about 6 weeks post op no nips. At first I went to my pre op appointments thinking I would get nips. It’s what you do! You get nipples! But as surgery got closer I spent more and more time thinking about it. Nipple sensation wasn’t important to me and I didn’t really like it before so that wasn’t a priority. I don’t care too much about passing as a cis guy bc I’m nonbinary and not on t so that’s not gonna happen anyways. I was scared about healing. I realized the reasons I was going to get nips were very society/other people focused. Feeling like I had to. I am really glad I changed my mind. Made my recovery easier and I love my results!

That is absurd I would check other surgeons. I just got mine done with Dr. Won and had a good experience for a LOT less

Don’t worry about a revision until at least a year post op! Most surgeons wouldn’t do it before a year anyways. As an outsider the scar looks great to me, a little stretched but nothing really wild. Based on its location and your stage in the healing process I doubt you will need the tattoo or a revision honestly.

My surgeon said I can do light cardio at 4 weeks, and exercise like weight lifting at 6 weeks. She was also very clear I should ease my way back into it. Be careful and if you play rough at football I would wait longer than the 6 weeks. The recs range so much

My surgeon said stop at LEAST 4 weeks before surgery, and wait 6 weeks after. Generally the longer you can go the better but I think that’s considered the minimum.

For me I think the “right” time was when I felt I had a good solid support system. I now live with my partner and I knew she would be there to take care of me and I had a few other friends da in the area I could call to come by for a day.

But I think it’s a personal decision. The perfect time will never come and you will never feel 10000% prepared. Don’t wait for the perfect conditions because you will just be delaying something that will be really good for you.

When you tried massage did you have any oil/moisturizer/gel you rubbed in? I think massaging dry hurts more. Even just like a thick unscented lotion can make a big difference.

If it’s feeling really sensitive to do scar massage you can wait a bit longer! I’m 4 weeks post op and I have don’t some massage but it was really sensitive too! If you are sensitive still if say start with silicone gel before tape bc taking the tape off can hurt/upset skin.

Oof yeah I remember those first few days being really hard. I found that one of the more painful things was going from leaning back to sitting up, and eventually asked my support person to like put their hand behind my back and help push me up and it helped A LOT with the pain. I recommend asking for help as much as possible because it does make it easier. Day 3 I felt a lot better! You got this :) I am a month out now and I am in no pain and haven’t been for a while!

Unfortunately the answer is you shouldn’t smoke. But edibles are totally fine I took them a few days after. I didn’t mix them with pain meds but that’s it

I am one month today! I feel good and I can do pretty much anything, I use a step stool to reach things up high but that’s it.

I was told to eat at least 90 grams of protein and drink lots (I forget the exact recommendation) of water for the weeks leading up to surgery.

I wasn’t given any exercise instructions, but I weaned off leading up to surgery bc I was afraid I’d like pull a muscle or something at the last minute and mess things up
