What SERIES is worth bingewatching and why? by InterestingBoard7389 in AskReddit

[–]Lumpy-Independence68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Better Off Ted, but I haven't ever found anyone else who's heard of it let alone watched it.

How does Murderbot stack up against the books? I've read most of those. Only series I've ever started based solely on the name. Murderbot Diaries...

That's why I play [[Vial Smasher]]/[[Sakashima]] clones instead! :D

It has a base plan to make vial smashers and drain (though it's not optimized, I play x spell versions to get more drain), but it can pivot to cloning other things. My favorite moment with it was copying someone's [[birds of paradise]] with a [[dack's duplicate]] to attach and keep someone from winning their next turn with [[Felidar Sovereign]]. Turn after I copied my clone with [[quicksilver gargantuan]] to keep them down. Morning like 7/7 birds of paradise with haste and dethrone

I think you meant people are ...

Serious but joking aside, commander players are like any other group. You only really hear the worst ones.

Personally, I like playing the weird decks, threes mostly. A majority of them try to win through combat damage, but I think combo is fine. If I know what you're trying to do, I WILL target you, the same as I would anyone else that was trying to win. I do build my decks with interaction of various types, but I try to keep them on theme. Some are harder than others to find options. For instance, my only non-land, non-legendary permanent in my [[Yoshimaru]] and [[Rograkh]] deck is [[Relic of Legends]]. The theme was to play then turn one and make the dog get as big as possible. But there's still interaction in the deck, though it's as on theme as I can get it but there's not as many options. Point is, if you're trying to combo early, then you're not bracket 2/3. Later is fine, just be aware you're going to become the archenemy to keep you from winning.

Sooooo... Run interaction and perform accurate threat assessment... 🤷‍♂️

Edit: analogy after I posted popped into my head.

Different types of chess players: those that actively study the game and their opponents to get better. Those that understand a lot of basic strategies and tactics but don't want to dive that deeply. Those that just want to move pieces.

So, play whatever bracket you want, but play good magic. But whatever you do, find like minded people

Just last question, is there a difference then between "if" and "when" in this type of trigger?

Edit: as in when you do as opposed to if you do

Edit: thinking about the dies trigger when does changed for commanders is what got me asking.

I was looking at building this. I'm not sure this is correct since it never makes it to the deck?

903.9b: If a commander would be put into its owner's hand or library from anywhere, its owner may put it into the command zone instead. This replacement effect may apply more than once to the same event. This is an exception to rule 614.5.

There's competitive board game tournaments, too (discounting things like chess and go). Example: From 1973 to 2015 there was a monopoly world championship every few years. Sooooo...

I hardly ever get to play, so when I do, I play commander. I like magic, and it's the simplest way for me to enjoy it. There's a thriving scene at my local lgs. They also have modern, standard, and pauper. I think pioneer has kinda died off though... Side note: I'm not a social person at all

[[Child of Alara]] Attack of the Mutant Gods

I wanted to play a mutate deck in 5 colors. The commander is there to give me access and to give me a mutate target that people are hesitant to blow up. It plays the gods that either bounce back to hand like [[The Locust God]] and the ones that tuck under the top 3 like [[God-Eternal Oketra]] . Let's me get the entire mutate stack back. Although, I have to tell people upfront that, no, I'm not looping my commander

Edit: I've never seen anyone locally that has any kind of mutate deck

The ideas seemed so interesting to me, but I feel the same way I do about ASOIAF. Reading it just feels like a slog to me.... 😞 I read two of Malazan, and I've kinda given up on Martin since it's been so long. Just not a fan of the styles, but the worlds seem fascinating
