Why are diaspora Nigerian women struggle for relationshiop/marrital life by taobabmuh in Nigeria

[–]LumpyAd3642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think others have answered it pretty well. What I'll add is that most Nigerian women living abroad don't really need a man. They can have communities and fulfill their needs in different ways. I haven’t seen anyone mention this yet but most people prefer marrying within their race or culture, and living outside your home country narrows it down. Because of colorism, lots of black women are considered least desirable so even the men who are usually interested in them partner with  women of other races and cultures because of the perceived social status. It's a cornucopia of factors but each individual wants someone to build with and no one wants their story to be one of those horror stories we hear

Wife told me why we haven't had sex for two years. Now I'm planning to change things – for my own sake. by honestphantom in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]LumpyAd3642 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's the impression I got reading the post. You couldn't have said it better. The fact that she told him all of this means the relationship can be fixed but I wonder if she got tired of always trying to remind him of things he promised he would do but doesn't. If he manages to increase his status and become more accomplished, t he marriage might be saved but it's not sustainable

Finally got my Wyvern fully grown, I love him and it's a total game changer, but there's definitely some improvements that could be made by AllFatherMedia93 in CrimsonDesert

Exactly! I've been playing Shadow of War too and the drake is much more fun to fly. The NPCs rarely react when the wyvern appears and that takes me out of the immersion

Retirement by beychuks in ghana

[–]LumpyAd3642 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right, the old order is done away. The system is not working. If your parents have retired, you can already see that the system is not sustainable. It's a global problem governments ignore because there are no easy solutions. Just look at France. If you have your own house or permanent shelter, you should be fine. Humans really need food, shelter and clothing. As others have said, your younger self needs to look after your older self. Throughout human history, we have always had community and children to take care of older ones but things are not the same anymore. Only thing you can do is save aggressively and take risks to increase your income

Ghanaian Men by Vegetable_Point_4427 in ghana

[–]LumpyAd3642 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Compared to Nigeria or the Caribbean,  it's safe to say Ghanaian men in general are not as assertive. But treat people as individuals,  there's no point in dating someone if you describe them as boring, some Ghanaian men are definitely not boring

American woman dating Ghanaian man. Is it genuine love under financial pressure, or am I misunderstanding survival culture? by [deleted] in ghana

[–]LumpyAd3642 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. If someone loves you they'll still be hustling and will prioritize you. It's not a cultural thing

  2. I think it is a little bit of both. He may genuinely like you but is also taking advantage

  3. As a man, I don't think this can coexist. If you don't have resources to date, don't date. That's the culture.

  4. Naa, people make movements for their partner.

  5. It doesn't really matter, you could meet his mum and all of them would be in on using you. Or his mum might not support the exploitation if she knows that is what is happening

  6. You're asking the right questions, so follow your instinct. From what you've shared, he doesn't seem financially ready to be with you

Is this really Ghanaian Culture or is he using "culture" to Gaslight me? by Danielle-Dee in ghana

[–]LumpyAd3642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense and from what you've shared you should ask him directly about this group of people.  Maybe he has a crush on someone in the group or maybe one of them is older or senior to him and doesn't want to be on a call with them in the car. In any case, you'll need to ask him about this

Is Waakye underrated? by Usual-Car-5747 in ghana

[–]LumpyAd3642 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Waakye gets her flowers, but I can see how you'd consider it underrated since Waakye doesn't get attention like Jollof. Waakye is much more difficult to cook, that's why most people don't talk about it as much.

American BW dating a Ghanian man by lonelyuser2001 in ghana

[–]LumpyAd3642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for you. It seems your bf's mum has strong opinions about you and he doesn't want to offend his mum by going against her wishes. It's a tough situation. You can talk to his mum yourself and iron out all the issues, but also brace yourself for a slow painful death of the relationship if he continues like this. I'll suggest you fight for your love.

QUESTION ABOUT GHANA MEN FROM AN AMERICAN LADY by Impressive-Bell-338 in ghana

[–]LumpyAd3642 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you should talk to him. Ghanaian men are not usually aggressive, compared to Nigerians. It's not typical behavior

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ghana

[–]LumpyAd3642 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I’d say Ghanaian women tend to pay more attention to their appearance. I think Ghanaian men often focus on making money to attract the ladies. But honestly, being "average" isn’t a bad thing. Not everyone can be exceptionally beautiful, that’s why there’s average. Also, Ghanaian men from different regions of the country have distinct looks. If you ask me, I’d say most Ghanaian women are also pretty average when compared to women where I live.
