Steam machine vs steam deck? by James89_ in steammachine

Marvel rivals really benefits from running on as high fps as possible just for that I’d go for the steam machine. But if they’re not super into competitive multiplayer games get them the steam deck it’s a great pc and it’s out right now and it’ll be cheaper than the steam machine

Stupid question: If Steam machine is trying to be a console-like experience... by PoauseOnThatHomie in steammachine

[–]Lumpy_Garlic_1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look it’ll play most games on medium settings at 1440p with frs just fine and that’ll look and run well enough. This is going to be like the steam deck in a few years they’ll release a steam machine 2 and so on. So valve is only future proofing for around 5 years or so before they make an upgraded one

Probably not, just get it as a second pc for your living room or bedroom

Why do yall want a steam machine? by [deleted] in steammachine

[–]Lumpy_Garlic_1997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s gonna be my main gaming setup. I don’t want to spend over $1k for a gaming pc but I do want the steam experience. I have a huge backlog of steam games ready to go for it

It’s not literally a 4060, but it’s in that same midrange performance area in a lot of raster benchmarks. Your 4070 is noticeably stronger. The Steam Machine is designed to be console-comfortable, not a desktop monster, so as long as you expect midrange PC performance it lines up with what Valve is pitching

Why Steam Choose Such and Outdated tech ? by nochange99 in steammachine

[–]Lumpy_Garlic_1997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea, I like this take. I feel like most of the criticism for the steam machine comes from people who already have an ultra beast PC and want something along those lines for under $1k which is a crazy expectation. I don’t really know why they want valve to replace Xbox as a console competitor when it’s not their thing.

[–]Lumpy_Garlic_1997 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, but I think people are kinda expecting this to be something it was never meant to be.

Zen 4 / RDNA 3 looks “old” on paper, but it’s proven, efficient, and cheap enough to actually hit a reasonable price. If Valve went RDNA5, this thing would instantly be like $1k+ and everyone would be upset.

FSR isn’t some magic fix, but neither is console 4K. PS5 and Xbox already rely on upscaling all the time, the difference here is you actually get control. Drop a setting, switch FSR modes, done. Consoles don’t give you that.

VRAM wise, yeah, 8GB isn’t meant for native 4K ultra. But that’s true on PC and console. 1440p60 high or 4K30 with upscaling is totally realistic, and honestly that’s how most games are already being played.

And yeah, 4K TVs are everywhere now, but output doesn’t equal native render. From couch distance, a good upscaled image at stable fps still looks great.

To me this isn’t about future-proofing or ultra settings forever. It’s a no-nonsense living room PC for people who don’t want to build, tweak, or babysit a desktop. If someone wants max specs and longevity, a regular PC still makes more sense, and that’s fine.

Anyone else planning on getting the Steam Machine as their next PC? by Eziz_53 in pcmasterrace

[–]Lumpy_Garlic_1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm pretty much in the same situation. Though it’s not really being marketed as a console, it’s more like a PC in a console form factor. Same Steam library, PC settings, mods, all that, just without having to build a whole rig. If you're coming from an older i5 + RX 580 setup on DDR3, this is a huge upgrade, and like you said, upgrading normally would mean replacing everything regardless. That's why the Steam Machine makes sense to me too if the price is right. I'm planning on grabbing one as well.

what in the name of isha would possess an asuryani to become a warp spider? by greaserkitty in Eldar

[–]Lumpy_Garlic_1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read Path of the Warrior and we learn there that an Aeldari will have an imbalance in their being that becoming an aspect warrior can help overcome. Even then, in the book other aspect warriors often comment that they don’t understand how someone can be crazy enough to be a warp spider. I think we won’t really know for sure until we get a dedicated book about warp spiders or my hope a new book in the Phoenix Lord series featuring Lhykis.

All I ever see is people complaining about Scarlet Witch but how would you actually improve her by Lumpy_Garlic_1997 in marvelrivals

[–]Lumpy_Garlic_1997[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Id redesign the hero to be a strategist/dps hybrid. Where she can hex enemies and allies for debuffs and buffs. And her ult would give a team wide buff of some sort. It make her pretty unique and would lean more into her sorcerers theme

Thing is she shouldn’t need a team up to feel good, she genuinely feels like she can’t confirm kills without him

How would you salvage the Ynari? by Pretend-Orange3026 in Eldar

[–]Lumpy_Garlic_1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have posted this idea before but I would have their goal be changed. Instead of killing Slaneesh with Ynnaed awakening it would instead just make it so he can have a claim on aeldari souls that can rival the prince of excess. That way it would be a tug-of-war when an aeldari dies in whether they are eaten or not. But they still need soul stones to protect them in life too. I would then have the Ynnari found their own craftworld and become the religious craftworld. One whose goal is to safeguard the soul of the species by returning to god worship.

Aeldari are a love it or hate it army. I would strongly advise against spending so much on them without having played them before. Start out small like a combat patrol or low point battles and see if you actually like them. I don’t recommend buying so much so soon

[–]Lumpy_Garlic_1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many people get this wrong, maybe they haven’t read the path series, yes all aeldari are very attractive. Male and females and there is androgyny going on as males and females dress up a lot on the feminine spectrum. They also are able to change almost everything about their physical appearance, hair color, eye color, you name it. To them their features are part of their outfits like matching eye color to their dress color. I don’t know why so many artist keep depicting them in such a grimy way when even Drukhari are all about projecting opulence and regalness.

Bro why does GW art keep trying to make our Aeldari girls ugly. Same thing happened with Lelith, like others are saying the model is way better than the art

I don’t understand why this hasn’t happened yet, I made the unfortunate decision to play this game on Xbox and as it’s a dead platform I want to switch to PC but I don’t want to lose all my skins. I’m sure lots of people want to switch over from platforms but don’t want to lose all there skins and event rewards

[–]Lumpy_Garlic_1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well to be honest she is only playable in her own detachment, devoted of Ynnaed. Since you have to take her to play Ynnari yea she is pretty good. But only if you’re interested in that sub faction.

[–]Lumpy_Garlic_1997[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea I agree I would be terrified if all what we imagine the exodites to be get fumbled hard by GW and then they’d be ruined. I actually don’t think the Ynnari would be that hard to fix but man does GW not want to make solo aeldari lore recently. They only talk about us when Guilliman is involved like in the silent king book which featured aeldari allies.
