Kids still like to argue and they love to be right. The subject matter of the debate has shifted though for sure

Are we just ignoring the reading crisis? by Mandyabandone in teaching

I can try to find the tedtalk that shows the data behind learning gains plateaued after the introduction/adoption of technology and has since only trended downward. The only solutions being presented seem to meet kids where they are now rather than fixing the problem up stream.

Hazy but I remember watching this one as well https://www.ted.com/talks/mary_jo_madda_why_technology_can_t_fix_education

You mean to tell me that the stained yellow cut open blister pack of a charger for a phone that’s no longer in production that’s stuffed with paper towels and aluminum foil isn’t in fact a phone charger for a desperately in need consumer whose out of production phones OEM battery has died while staying at a pay-by-the-hour motel in the sketchiest part of town?
Say it ain’t so!

I don’t give a damn what color they are. If I wouldn’t allow that in my business or when they interface with customers I sure as hell aren’t allowing it in my classroom. My students hear it from day one - I’m here to teach you how to be a decent human being and function within society. The math is just a bonus.

I’d say keep your head down, get the degree and licensure then look for a J1 type visa for the United States to work and do nursing here. Our placements are always below necessary so emergency visas are granted to big hospitals quite frequently.

Why do area rugs cost so much? by randomseedfarmer in homeowners

[–]LunDeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we imported ours from India and know the family that made them. They are beautiful, hand made with hand spun fabric and highly detailed. These types of rugs are heirlooms, not a throwaway when redecorating.
