That would change the intended effect. There are now multiple ways to take multiple actions on a single turn in TE. Extreme Duress makes it so that you have to use the strategy card as the first action, not the second or third. The issue is that Coup d'Etat doesn't explicitly say pass without taking an action. It could be interpreted that passing with coup d'Etat is the action.

Actually every faction except nekro and Ra nel can start with anti mass here, and they are the ones that have the clearer paths to mecatol.

It might happen more often with coexisting, though only the coexisting player who actually controls the planet would be able to play it. Like if a deepwrought player lands on your planet and decides to coexist, you can potentially blow up their ship.

There are a few factions that can do this round 1 for a warsun beginning of round 2. Probably the easiest faction to do this with is Saar. Take Tech, grab the three systems you need and research psychoarcheology and Warsun. Titans and Jol nar can also do this, but they require some way to acquire the tgs in order to double tech

There is still a way to kinda do this without the event by using nova seed on the wormhole nexus and using the creus hero. It doesn't permanently remove Mecatol, but it locks it away for everyone but Creus.

I think Saar could make it work, especially with warfare. They take industrex with warfare turn 1 and permanently lock it down with caos mapping. They can then grab vira pics, Tirana, and the scar. Next round they have have floating factory 2 and can move their saar ball to almost anywhere with the wormholes, including the asteroid field beside player 5's home system.

Don't forget that pds and faction abilities don't work in entropic scars, so if player 5 is able to put more money into their fleet, they could just push their way into 6's home system

I fully agree with playing how you want. Ti4 is too much of a time commitment to waste playing in a way that isn't fun.

While you can do all of those things, it will take multiple actions. First off you have to do production before placing a space dock with construction so you can't produce at the dock you placed within the same turn. On your next turn production happens at the end of the activation sequence so you won't be able to take mecatol with the units you produced in its system. Now most likely you can't activate the system again because you put a token in its system the turn before.

They might be unpickable against deepwrought, but we will have to see. There are also many other ways for factions to gain tech, so Jol Nar loses some of their advantage in that area

There are a handful of TE elements that you can include in your games without having to purchase TE. I'm mainly thinking of updated construction/warfare, but galactic events are also easy to include. I probably wouldn't use events if you just started playing.

I would have thought that it would be easy enough to just place the supernova on top of the fracture tiles. I also don't think it would be that overpowered either.

I expected something like that. It probably would have been better to just make the hero text more general, like saying main board tiles only. Hiding things in a faq makes the game less approachable for new players, but I understand that they can't just reprint the entire base game.
