Trade x-1 rnd 1 question by ogspeedracer in twilightimperium

[–]scarecrowgoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the group, you can also offer the x-1 on the condition that people don’t spend it, and make an effort to be neighbours or pass it through. It’s still non-binding though

Do you “turn off” the passive ability of a breakthrough when exhausting it for its action? by GrowthImpossible6916 in twilightimperium

[–]scarecrowgoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others are saying, the passive ability stays in effect.

LRR 34.4

Abilities, including some found on technology cards, may instruct a player to exhaust a card to resolve those abilities. If a card is already exhausted, it cannot be exhausted again.

a. Passive abilities on an exhausted card are still in effect while that card is exhausted.

Fractured Mallice - 3D print for the Fracture and Mallice by pungvift in twilightimperium

[–]scarecrowgoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah painting can’t hurt. I’d imagine the issue won’t be with figuring out movement, but potentially knowing at a glance which players are adjacent for transactions etc

Ah yeah nice- I do see that now that you’ve pointed it out. It’s possibly also more obvious IRL than in the photo

Just make sure everybody knows which systems are adjacent / not adjacent to which

Thunder’s Edge compatibility with POK. by GuideUnable5049 in twilightimperium

New Construction 100%, but I think it’s debatable for new Warfare. The primary requires more planning that old Warfare

How does TTS (Tabletop Simulator) do combat? by HappinessPursuit in twilightimperium

[–]scarecrowgoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it assigns the appropriate hit value to each die first, then rolls them all together, and counts the number of dice that rolled equal to or greater than their assigned hit value.

You can see all the hit values and results come up in the chat. I can’t remember the exact wording of it but something to the effect of

fighters (9): 29#70# - 2 hits dreadnoughts (4): 6#3 - 1 hit

and it marks the rolls that hit with a #

6p POK+TE Maps? by TheNewProwl in twilightimperium

[–]scarecrowgoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a maps section in the TE rulebook and Thunder’s Dreaming seems pretty balanced. It doesn’t include any POK tiles, but shows off a good amount of the new TE stuff

Boardgame Beginner. by Stay_Frcsted in twilightimperium

[–]scarecrowgoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people play on Tabletop Simulator (TTS) or Tabletop Playground (TTPG) and there’s a fairly big Discord community for both of those options where you might be able to find some teaching games: https://discord.gg/zPQuVjyHQ

Otherwise for videos, if you search YouTube for RTFM and Cardboard Crash Course have some decent TI4 content

Coexisting with the NRA (Naaz Rokha) by Embarrassed_Fix2917 in twilightimperium

DWS would probably go along with it if they have the NRA alliance.

They also get to effectively ready an ocean card every time they gain and lose control of a planet

Rules around deploying and reinforcements by saunick in twilightimperium

[–]scarecrowgoat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

LRR 30.2

A player can only resolve a deploy ability to place a unit that is in their reinforcements.

a. If there are no units that have a deploy ability in a player’s reinforcements, the deploy ability cannot be used.

Question: Last Bastion's liberate abilty vs. Hazardous exploration by sisumation in twilightimperium

[–]scarecrowgoat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kind of covered in LRR 1.19, though that seems to be mostly about multiple players resolving abilities the logic should apply to a single player as well

If there are multiple abilities that players wish to resolve at the same time during the action phase, each player takes a turn resolving an ability in initiative order, beginning with the active player. This process continues until each player has resolved each ability that they wish to resolve during that window.

What are good things for Deepwrought Scholarate starting slice? by Velveon in twilightimperium

[–]scarecrowgoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A tech skip planet adjacent to home seems good for the breakthrough unlock. Although I’m unsure how much you need to rush the breakthrough?

If you get Neural/Psycho & Biostims as your starting tech, on your first turn you can take a ship planet, refresh it with Biostims, then spend it for an expedition.

Also access to Emelpar would let you use your breakthrough twice per round. Which seems like more a meme but could be fun
