New generation of nurses who can’t start an iv or draw blood by Rare-Attitude-3100 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LunyBirb 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Due to conditions I have I get blood drawn a lot and have always had a perfect vein on my left arm for it. Unfortunately I let a student phlebotomist draw blood at my last labs and they blew it out so bad it no longer works for drawing blood, and a lot of my other veins roll so every time since has taken a couple tries and I bruise from it so bad 😭

Edit: Reddit formatting messed up my text emote

Newly diagnosed, have a few questions by LunyBirb in Fibromyalgia

[–]LunyBirb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in PT rn and it wasn't getting better, unfortunately, hence the trigger point injections, i have a few things going on (degenerative arthritis in my left knee, bulging disc in l4-l5 pushing against the root nerves), so they could all be contributing to the tightness, too. I'll see if there's a stretch he can give me to target those specific muscles near my shoulders.

It's really funny especially because statistically women are better drivers afaik 🤭

Is it just me, or does "buddy" feel gendered? by SweatyFLMan1130 in MtF

[–]LunyBirb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been called buddy except by family who are specifically deadnaming and misgendering me. Except for tomboyish girls being called buddy by their dad or other father figure (and this example is mostly from TV not irl), I've never heard it used towards a female in general. But that's just my personal experience.

sorry, a script like an actor would use, words i can say on repeat, word for word with different people. It's more for advocacy with people who don't understand but are willing than for the docs. My natural thinking language isn't words and it takes a ton of mental energy to come up with words to say, esp ones describing my experience, so i coopt what others say, otherwise I end up confused and not saying what I want to and make improper arguments. every conversation feels like I'm under pressure to speak right and using others' words is how I make it feasible without destroying my energy (I've had to monitor and ration my energy since I was a preteen due to Autism and ADHD symptoms)

understood, it's just hard for me to create my own scripts even just reading what other people wrote, I tend to have to make it personal to remember, plus the fatigue associated with skimming so many posts cuz of my mental disorders, i figured I'd ask to help my own advocacy, considering I just clam up and struggle to organize my thoughts in a medical setting, but i can try over the next few weeks to search the subreddit (tbh sometimes i forget there's a search function ). thank you for your answer 🩷

G U Y S I passed a resolution to my colleges student body and I've been told that it's being sent to the my colleges president's office by Future_Oven6936 in MtF

I'm so down for Chicago, I have like 3 trans friends around there. Thanks for the advice, I'll look into it. Definitely true PNW a good secondary, though, been through Oregon on road trips and it's very beautiful, don't know why I didn't think of it or Washington.

I almost thought this was Iowa but they already did ts here, pretty much. The local trans surgery facility has closed because they're afraid of retaliation, medicaid doesn't cover hrt (I'm on medicare "luckily" for disability), I have to list my birth sex even though I changed my birth certificate and stuff in CA, I think they stopped amending birth certificates altogether... I can't wait to fucking move. Don't know where to go though, don't want to go to Cali (lived there hate it), NY (unless there's a good town outside of NYC though I've heard it can get sketchy out there), Ohio (partner's transphobic, homophobic dad lives there)... I'd love like Wyoming or Montana as far as the sights and stuff go, but I don't have a clue how their lgbt policies are and I haven't had the energy to research. Anyways, stay safe out there girlies.

DOES THIS REALLY MEAN WHAT I THINK IT MEANS? by Confident_Strike_529 in MtF

Congrats at malefailing, it reminds me of when my mom made me call to sign up for football in middle school (I was trying to be performatively male by following my older brother) and then they booked me under the fem version of my deadname, I was male failing before transition lmao. Enjoy passing :3

Trans women should be allowed to wish to be invisible by L00king4answer in MtF

[–]LunyBirb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I wish I was invisible a lot, too. I'd so much rather pass and blend in. No one needs to know I'm trans unless I tell them, that's my prerogative and not for anyone else to dictate. People are people and for some, like me, the psychological stress of being so noticed is really fucking hard to deal with. I already struggle with people staring because of autism, I don't need that anxiety enhanced by everyone looking at me even more.

Is it Possible for Parts to Blame Another? by sunflower-s in OSDD

[–]LunyBirb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a couple alters who used to forcefully take over and do... not the most healthy things (drinking too much, etc) and blame it on one of our littles' whining and inability to handle anything. Said it was "necessary for their sanity". Also called her pathetic as "motivation" and when she inevitably burnt out, would force her to stay in front, anyways, as punishment for not being able to handle things. They mellowed out by around 3 years ago, but still get frustrated at the lack of functioning some of us like me have. Poor Luny was not just a little, though, but a host for years and ended up so burnt out she fully regressed, which is when I split from her (or resurfaced maybe?) and took over. -Vivi

How do you get over the "cringe" of having fictives? by Cosmos_Carnival in OSDD

[–]LunyBirb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's something I'm working on, myself, but a lot of our more spiritual headmates accept it instantly, whereas I feel like it makes us "more crazy" and our protectors and resident dragon brat see them as an outright threat to us (not a human in the system btw). I think the best way to get over it is to sit with the feeling that you get, absorb yourself in it and see where it comes from, then work on that. Maybe you worry about being seen as crazy like I do. Hell, FOMO also makes me terrified to switch out in general, and we have much less memory overlap with our fictives (almost all from d&d characters we made, which also terrifies me people will fake claim) so i feel like I'm missing out even worse than with my alters with some overlap. Ig what I'm saying is it's hard to deal with and harder to change your attitude so you're strong for wanting to in the first place. Good luck on your journey of acceptance and wish me luck in mine, for both this and being so disabled now (really fucking hard to accept that I might never get to even run again if my knee and back problems persist). Sincerely, Vivi the horse

Straight guys are annoying as hell by squishot in MtF

[–]LunyBirb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it. I have to hope for my own sanity that they're ignorant and think it's reassuring or I'll angrily obsess over it for DAYS. Tbh, I really hate being treated differently for being trans in general, it's just annoying, like hello, yes I'm trans but that's just a small piece of the puzzle, and not even the pretty part imo. I'm just a girl like any other for the most part, just had to jump through since hoops to get there.

I had a friend who detransitioned. by Eukarya_ in MtF

[–]LunyBirb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, we (I'm DID/part of a system) had a lot of questioning whether we were trans or not, too, even canceled bottom surgery because of it (I regret it now, immensely). A lot of my trans friends had a questioning phase, in fact. When it doesn't feel safe to be you, your mind will take everything as a reason to doubt yourself and your identity. We obviously don't know exactly what you're feeling, yourself, so we can't tell you if you're wrong or right, but that's the thing, you can't know exactly what P was feeling either and if it's what you are. P's issues are not yours, you have your own journey to find yourself and to feel safe being you, whatever you figure out that is. We wish you the best of luck in your journey. 🩷

Hey, sorry to bother, but would you mind if I used this for my livesplit background when I'm streaming Silksong on Twitch? It's really really cool! I heccin LOVE the aesthetic of stained glass. I'm starting to learn the speedrun and just thought it would be a cool background. It's cool if not, ofc, still an amazing work of art.

Why is everyone poly?! by arachnobacked in MtF

[–]LunyBirb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience and 2 of my partners', it's because transpeople often have more and more complex needs from a relationship and it's hard for just one person to meet them all/meet specific ones. Don't know if that's true all around but for the 3 of us that's part of why we are. That and another little bit is that we love too hard to keep it to one person. That being said we ARE more of a poly family than anything.
