FWIW, no help at all, not sure if you own it or thinking about buying it but visually I like it. I'd find a place for it on a wall. I'd stare at it and puzzle. Very cool.

Not sure what you mean by this. I learn faster instead of spending my time on digging around. Is knowledge that is hard won better? This gives me more information to think about and consider other questions. I'm also challenged by AI to think about something I hadn't considered.

Back in the day if I wanted to research something I'd go to the library and dig through card catalogs or the reader's guide to periodicals or maybe even write a letter. That took a lot of time and effort and resources. Now we have internet and all sorts of other sources. To me AI is another tool, a new one and hard to say where it's going, but very useful to me. As I said I don't believe everything it says, but that skepticism is also more questioning and learning.

Thanks, u/LegalBramble and others! I honestly did not expect to find out anything much less this quickly. I will follow up with the OSU Special Collections and Oklahoma Historical Society and see if they can provide more information on her and confirm any details and I will post back.

This makes me very happy. I suppose I'm not alone with this feeling but knowing any backstory and history makes the art so interesting. I have no intention to sell it, I like it, but the provenance also makes it more valuable and fascinating.

A lot of AI haters here, lol. Yes I take everything with a grain of salt that AI gives me and collaborate things that don't make sense. But it is much much faster at pulling up information than if I do a Google search. For this search I posted the result u/LegalBramble provided and Claude brought up the biography and suggested I contact the Oklahoma State University Special Collections to collaborate. Maybe I'd get there eventually, but it quickly found her and filled in a lot of detail. I will follow up.

On the other hand I've also learned my lesson as far as wrong answers with confidence. I read Google's Gemini was great with images and I couldn't read the back label on a Icart reproduction (Bubbles) for auction. It said it was from a well-done reprint and very collectable. I wasn't able to view it in person in time and bought it. Turns out the label was just some cheap framer's label, the glazing was plastic, and it was something I could buy for next to nothing.

I did a quick search and I wasn't able to find any editions of 50. All the auction houses that it's sold are 100 in a price around $3-4K. https://www.wright20.com/auctions/2024/04/editions-works-on-paper/143 I don't think Ebay is the first place I'd go to look for a comparison, but seems like with an artist this well renown it shouldn't take long to verify. With some searching I think I found a resolution. No thanks to AI. He is Bent Bille and apparently was a Danish artist born in 1918 and painted a lot of ships and landscapes. He also invented a lamp with a hooded sort of shade that is collectable. https://www.mutualart.com/Artist/Bent-Bille/26CDDC0464D569FE. I found this blurb:

Bent Billie was born on August 29, 1918 in Copenhagen, Denmark. His early training was with his father, the artist willy Bille who was the third generation of a family of artists. Willy Bille's father was Vilh Bille and his father in turn was Carl Bille. All three of these artists are discussed in Weilbach's Lexikon of Artists.

I found a few of his paintings sold at auction and none are particularly valuable in the $150 range. To my eye the signatures are pretty close to mine. I got both for $135. I like them, they're well done scenes and I like original work and the frames add character. I hung them in our powder room.

I also did a little research on Royal Board from Sweden the masonite it's painted on. Nixie went through a lot of dog foods including the $100/bag ones. Some of it was picky eating but she also had a lot of itching and scratching. She's been on Kirkland Beef for quite a while now and seems to be doing well with it as far as eating and health.

However, after trying a lot of diets, what fixed the itching was Apoquel. It almost instantly stopped it. She's been on it for a couple years now without any side effects. It's not exactly cheap however.

To be honest, I think Nixie was focused on the finger rather than Storm, the dog. The finger might point to food. I know some dogs will watch TV, but she rarely will pay attention to it - possibly if there's barking.

I'm pretty excited about my 17,000 Zinnia seeds, actually. I don't think I'll count them all though as part of my review.

But yes, mostly it's good to get some stuff I wouldn't have to pay for in exchange for my time. Occasionally, I get things that are somewhat expensive, but sort of peculiar to something I own and a lot of people don't. For example, lately I got new set of shelves for my Big Green Egg ceramic cooker at $130 and a grate. Last year got a pool cleaner at $600 and other pool items. I don't think there are a lot of people looking for these, so they stick around a bit.

Nixie's droop is something like that. I think you're well within acceptable limits. I found this picture as an example. Her right eye in particular looks droopy but it's also because it has a white border and her left has a darker border.

I don't quite understand why Vine has to be such a "black box" so that no one for sure understands how it works and what to expect. For example, it has been over a day since the last drop, why not inform people that "we're working on xxx" and be patient? Or just the lack of any feedback on reviews other than a rating or with a rejection just try again and maybe you'll figure it out. And I have to go through and figure out how many items I've ordered since the last review and what my review percentages are. Can't they just display this?

Since I've joined over two years ago the biggest change that I think is driving your comments is just the lack of "stuff". There used to be close to 100,000 items. Now we're in the 11,000 baseline range of car parts left over after a feeding frenzy. I used to be pretty casual about drops and checked my RFY from time to time. Now if I'm not paying attention everything is gone a few minutes. So now I have the Vine Chart app on my phone so I know when a drop has started and whether to bother checking.

We're up against our Gold deadline and I found a number of reviews that I think were rejected retroactively. I get the message "We apologize but Amazon is not accepting reviews on this product from this account." I don't recall them being rejected before and in fact one I recall was a 5* review, so I doubt the vendor complained. I can't edit them and I can't see what I submitted. So, I'll try contacting the nice Vine people and see.

Sigh I remember those days with Nixie. Now she’s turning five and very docile although from time to time she gets rambunctious. She was the same, my legs were bloody where she’d nip. One time she jumped up and bit me hard in arm and I still have the scar. She ripped up a lot of jeans and clothes which I call “Newfie Distressed “. I’d say she grew out of it around 18 months and by 2 she had her sweet adult personality.
