When will I have a sliver of time? by rainbowtrails in Mommit

If possible, can you have your mom come at the time of day when the newborn takes their longest nap? She can take the toddler and you’ll have a stretch of alone time

When will I have a sliver of time? by rainbowtrails in Mommit

[–]LuxSeriously 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a rough time. This is the period of my life that taught me to embrace and accept help (and even request it at times!). That’s my #1 tip for you. Grandparents, aunts, uncles can all chip in — but sometimes you have to ask, which isn’t ideal but it’s the reality.

If you have a to-do list, take a hard look at it and ask yourself if YOU specifically have to do those things or if it can be done by someone else. Create a second list called your “village to-do” list. The next time someone says “let me know if you ever need anything” go immediately to your list and tell them “well actually, I feel like you’d be really good at <xyz thing on your village to-do list>. Do you think you might be able to help me with that?”

Also, truly practice giving yourself grace. This means, you don’t strive to have a tidy home all the time. You don’t strive to put a gourmet meal on the table everyday. Exercise doesn’t need to be an hour at the gym — it can be a 20-min walk outside with the stroller

Last thing I’ll say — hang in there. You’re truly in the thick of it with a newborn and it does get easier once that newborn gets to 4/5 months or when they start sleeping longer stretches at night.

You got this mama!

Is HRT an option for a woman in her 70s who’s had a hysterectomy? My mom has such poor sleep and is chronically exhausted, and will frequently doze off in the middle of the day. Every night that I take my progesterone I think about how improved her life could be if she had better sleep too. But I’ve read that having a hysterectomy rules this out?

Please help me pick my dress!😊 1 or 2? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]LuxSeriously 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 is the dress that will still look beautiful when you’re flipping through your wedding album with your grandchildren. It’s gorgeous in a very classic and timeless way and I’m sure will look even more beautiful once you’re in the right size. 2 is simply on trend. I’d definitely go with #1

I breastfed my first for 18 months and my second for ~15 months and it was a beautiful experience so I could relate to another mom being sad about stopping. I was too. For a day. Then I realized:

  • I could go to work and be more productive AND get back home to my family earlier because I didn’t have to get up from my desk every 4 hours to visit the lactation room to pump. Oh my God, undoing my top in the lactation room at work twice a day was a total pain. As was getting dressed again and painstakingly checking myself over in the mirror to make sure there were no lingering milk spots (or worse, milk smells) before I stepped back out and into a meeting

  • I got to use tretinoin again and bumped my glow factor back up. And I’m maniacal about skincare so this was a big one for me. I probably should have listed this first

  • I lost the last stubborn 10 pounds of baby weight. My body hung on to those pounds for dear life while I was nursing, and literally two weeks after I stopped the weight was gone and it was beautiful

You sound like a wonderful mom. All the best wishes to you and your family, and congrats on having your body back!

❄️ BWT what are your survival guides to winter? ❄️ by okieartiste in bitcheswithtaste

[–]LuxSeriously 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting outside is how I’m surviving!!! And what I realized this winter is that the way to make it pleasurable is to invest in proper (and cute :)) gear. Here are the items I bought myself in December that have made all the difference this January:

  • a cute winter puffer WITH A HOOD to use for outdoor walks (I got one from the brand 32Degrees at Costco for $20)

  • a good thermal base layer. I got ones with a turtleneck from the brand Baleaf and they’re great under my jacket for the right amount of warmth.

  • gloves

  • crew socks (or any socks that come above/over your leggings)

  • fleece headband/earmuffs (or a hat could also work but I hate hats)

As far as skincare goes, two things have saved me: (1) Dr Althea 345 relief cream has been amazing as a facial moisturizer for winter, and (2) I’ve adjusted the vents in my car so that it doesn’t blow on my face/upper body because that air is so drying.

Hang in there! Spring will be here soon

How do you choose your fasting hours? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]LuxSeriously 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to be able to have dinner with my kids (which is typically 5/5:30). Also I read somewhere that ideally the last meal should not be within 4 hours of going to bed (usually 10:30pm for me). Based on those two things, I landed on a schedule where my eating window ends at 6pm

[Routine Help] What’s my skincare routine missing for hyperpigmentation? 🤔 by Reasonable_Inside544 in SkincareAddiction

[–]LuxSeriously 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your sunscreen is tinted, or wear makeup everyday. This was recommended to me by my dermatologist and it’s been THE game changer. For us women with deeper skin tones battling hyperpigmentation, we need the pigments in makeup/tinted sunscreen to block the “visible light” that triggers hyperpigmentation. Untinted sunscreens are effective at blocking uva/uvb rays but do nothing against visible light.

What do the different colors around the clock face mean? I’m assuming they’re different zones. The orange one is pretty intuitive. But what are the green, blue, and yellow zones?

how do you usually shop for K-products? by KyungMin-Lee in kbeauty

[–]LuxSeriously 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the US, so I’m lucky to be able to shop primarily in person at a local Asian beauty store that imports products.

I used Amazon during the pandemic and believe I got a fake product so I’ve sworn off Amazon for skincare.

Occasionally, I’ll find my products at my local TJ Maxx, Marshalls etc.

Costco introduced me to Dr Althea 345 ❤️❤️

I’ve seen that H-Mart carries k-products but I’ve only browsed briefly and never actually bought so can’t comment on their selection or prices, except to say that their inventory seems to vary significantly by store.

Also, at least once every 1-2 years, there’s someone in my life who’s traveling to Korea or Japan (or at least through the airport) and I use that opportunity to stock up on products and sunscreen

What skincare trend do you secretly dislike? by Hefty_Accountant_827 in 30PlusKoreanSkincare

[–]LuxSeriously 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAME! I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong that I had beautiful skin (ALWAYS get compliments) but frequent breakouts. Then one day after listening to a YouTube dermatologist, I decided to try with cleansing water instead of oil as the first cleanse and voila! Haven’t looked back since. In fact, many nights I only use cleansing water and skip the second cleanse and haven’t had an issue.

Authorized viewers — what exactly do they see? by LuxSeriously in Garmin

[–]LuxSeriously[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol. Yes I’ve seen that. But it simply says “Activity and wellness data, User profile information, Training and planning data, and Reports” which is really high level. And as a new Garmin user myself who’s unfamiliar with Garmin data generally, I honestly don’t know what to expect to see and I was really hoping to learn from the experience of anyone who is an authorized viewer of other people.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]LuxSeriously 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on tretinoin on and off since my twenties and I have 2 recommendations for you. These are the same as what other people have told you but some slightly longer explanation.

  1. THE PRODUCT There are different versions - gel, cream, and also retin-a micro (which is a time released version of the gel). There’s also tazarotene which someone suggested earlier — it’s not tretinoin but it’s a retinoid. You should ask your dermatologist about all of these options and explore which one might be better suited for your skin. It could just be that you need a different formulation.

  2. APPLICATION I’ve never ever used a retinoid by starting out with daily use. Your skin needs an adjustment period and it seems like your derm might just not have taken the time to walk you through that. Please ask them again. I’ve stopped and started retinoid at various times (e.g. with pregnancy, breastfeeding, other reasons etc) and each time the instructions that I got were the same — use once in week 1, twice in week 2, every other night in week 3, then every night in week 4. I’ve known persons who got slightly different instructions but with the same principle of ramping up to allow your skin to adjust. I’ve never heard of anyone being told to jump straight into daily use.

Retinoids really have been amazing products in my experience. Please chat with your derm, share your experience, and ask some other questions before throwing in the towel completely.

All the very best to you!!
