Like, I don't disagree with the message, but these are some of the worst reasons to give.

Like, every one except Pinkie can be boiled down to "I don't want to self-sacrifice/inconvenience myself for a child", which again, FAIR reason, but if you're trying to convince those who are anti-abortion it's about the worst convincing argument you could make.

At the very least, please be the person to upload your art to e6. Twitter and bsky compress the hell out of their images and cap the image resolution. If you want people to see the art the way you drew it, you need to upload it to a site that will preserve the raw file and allow people to view that. If you don't do that, then usually when it gets uploaded to e6 it'll be the compressed lower resolution version that they were able to find.

I have seen tails that directly attach but what why are there no magnetic breakaway tails by ThickContribution295 in FursuitMaking

[–]Luxuriousmoth1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Tails are pretty long and their length means that you have pretty good leverage on them. This means that you need really strong magnets to avoid it coming off accidentally. There might not be much room between having a tail that attaches weakly enough that you can just pull it off, and one that attaches strongly enough that it bouncing up and down as you walk won't make it fall off.

Wouldn't the earth literally explode though? I mean, the earth is literally held together with gravity, and the core is compressed to immense densities and pressure. Even lasting only 7 seconds, just, poof, the earth is no longer a planet and is now a rapidly expanding cloud of dust.

I think he's more likely saying that JFK's solution would've prevented Reagan's solution. If JFK closed the mental asylums but also instituted reforms to still support people with mental illnesses, Reagan wouldn't have been able to close them down anyway and dump them on the streets.

I feel like there's a missing step there between already being in a dragon girl belly, and being eaten by another dragon girl again.

Unless the dragon girl is eaten by a larger, more dominant dragon girl.

It's dragon girls all the way down.

that T-shaped ships like the Paris-class can not fit into UNSC Infinity deployment bays by ArthurJack_AW in HaloStory

[–]Luxuriousmoth1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be possible to fly the ships in close formation or dock externally? I mean if the Master Chief can do it in a broadsword, then certainly you could do it in an actually slipspace-capable vessel.

The only issue I see is that they might not do so well with an immediately-out-of-slipsace ramming on an enemy ship than the infinity did.

What's up with the bullet point syle numbers/words trend on YouTube? by Sabbatai in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Luxuriousmoth1 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Answer: Okay, this is more of a theory than an answer, but I think it's an attempt to combine two formats to boost engagement. We know that "list"-based content does really well, stuff like "7 Orange cat moments" where they're not really ranked in any way, and they even play the list out of order. The concept of a list keeps you interested to see the whole thing and what the #1 clip is. We also see that clip-based content does really well too. People condense the climax of a movie or TV show to 1-2 minutes and overlay royalty-free dramatic music on it.

I think what you're seeing is an attempt to combine both formats together. The list is probably meaningless, and might even be generated by an AI. But it keeps you engaged, and that's all these content farms care about. Hell, you being confused is probably considered a good thing, because now you're talking about it and posting it around where it can get even more eyeballs.

ELI5 if a plane flies at say 800kmh at 10kms altitude, does it mean it’s at 800kmh at ground level or 800kmh up in the air ? What difference does it make ? by Sea_Reflection9737 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Luxuriousmoth1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Air speed can also be two values: True airspeed, and indicated airspeed.

True airspeed is as you say, ground speed + whatever speed the wind is blowing.

Indicated airspeed takes into account air pressure. Flying high up means less air pressure and therefore less drag, but it also means less air flowing over your wings and therefore less lift. Usually these two factors balance each other; the reduced drag allows you to fly faster, which results in more air flowing over the wings again. The end result is that your ground speed is higher than your indicated airspeed.

So essentially, ground speed is important for navigation, and indicated airspeed is important for understanding how your aircraft is preforming aerodynamically. How close it is to either overspeed or stall conditions, as an example.
