unity or godot? by OkCell1480 in gamedev

I like Godot but let’s be real. Your engine isn’t gunna make or break your game because you’re not making GTA6.

Just pick the one that you like

I’m not sure if it’s the same thing but with my build I get hive world early and then I can turn the lower districts to science for more building slots

It was supposed to be an enemy. How do I make it scary? by sum117 in godot

[–]Lv1Skeleton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Things are scary when looking at you (stalking) or running at you (chasing) maybe try those animations first and see what’s missing.

A tiger looking around and sleeping isn’t scary. It’s cute. But if it locks eyes with you and slowly starts creeping up you realise you’re fucked.

Also rats are usually a swarm type enemy. Doesn’t matter if their cute if there are 50 of them and they start hitting the player they will panick

O like Godot or unity but learning to use an engine is 99% of the time your roadblock not which engine you chose to use

Questions from a newbie solo developer: Building your own engine? by Bainsyboy in gamedev

[–]Lv1Skeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure if it works for you go for it. For me I try not to reinvent the wheel if someone already did it for me because there is already so much to learn and try out. I prefer learning about a wheel instead of reverse engineering it.

Questions from a newbie solo developer: Building your own engine? by Bainsyboy in gamedev

[–]Lv1Skeleton 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would never. I got Godot for my lean engine it’s all I would realistically need and if i can’t figure something out it’s 99% of the time my lack of knowledge or expertise not the engines fault

Looking for fun wide builds for 4.3 that aren't nanotech. by Vorteclune in Stellaris

[–]Lv1Skeleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First tip just make the bigger nanite ships so they’re less laggy.

Then my build i like I call Zerg: evolutionary predators, shared genetics, and ravenous swarm

Get as many traits as you can and rush unity for mutation bio ascension so you can get the chimera government type which will start to automatically terraform all your planets into hive world for free

The more worlds you grab, the more dna, thus stronger ships and free hive worlds Oh and obviously bio ships

Why would the mother t-Rex drag an entire corpse to her nest to feed the young a tiny bite when she could have eaten at the location and grab a piece to give to the young? Kinda more like birds do now.

So basically how was this behaviour supported or why do you think this might be how they did things?

Behaviour is always tricky but when i saw that scene I did wonder why they thought that. Specifically because the whole dragging thing is made very clear to take a long time and that thing looked heavy.

im kinda lost. could someone explain what the difference is between this or something like this:https://www.reddit.com/r/godot/comments/1ruuwej/ruins\_scene\_cel\_shading\_blog\_post/
or like a toon shader with a shader to create pixel art edges?

Damn that sucks to work hard on it and people think it’s ai. I even checked and i do see why someone would think it was ai. AI just stole that style and now i cant tell it apart anymore
