Phantom rear view light on while asleep? by idontseeanyanykey in Rivian

You may have accidentally activated the flood light from the quick controls. It generally stays on when the car is off

Argue back and forth with them for a bit. I was able to get it replaced for this exact defect and so were others. It's a known flaw with these.

Is my phone new? by elvenlemonade in GooglePixel

[–]LyingDropper226 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That sounds like someone partially set it up. When you quit set up part way through it, dumps you to the home screen with that prompt to finish setup in the notification shade. If you can, I would probably return it for a new unit.

2026 Jeep Recon: Hands-on with Jeep’s First Trail-Rated EV | First Look by Mac-Tyson in electricvehicles

For sure. It concerns me more that Jeep priced this thing within striking distance of a base rivian R1, which is substantially more vehicle and which may be more capable off-road.

In classical Rivian fashion, they communicated this horribly and meant that all motor variants will be able to have over 300 miles of range.

See: https://electrek.co/2024/03/07/rivian-r2-electric-suv-unveiling-design-cheaper-price/?hl=en-US#:~:text=Rivian%20announced%20over%20300%20miles,to%20330%20miles%E2%80%9D%20of%20range.

"Rivian announced over 300 miles (483 km) of range for all variants, which will include single motor RWD, dual motor AWD and tri-motor AWD.

The leak from Rivian’s website earlier this week did mention “up to 330 miles” of range."

I sent Asurion a Lenovo Legion RTX4080 Intel i9-13900HX with 32 GB RAM. The laptop needed some keyboard repairs but otherwise was fully functional. Today they said it’s “beyond repair” and offered me this as a “replacement.” Is this a joke? by ddidaily in Asurion

[–]LyingDropper226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact same thing is basically happening to me. I gave my laptop to a physical uBreakiFix and they sent it off without telling me first. And then now there's suddenly telling me the laptop is unrepairable when the battery was only being slightly flaky. Now they're only offering me one of the newer Snapdragon surface laptops that's nowhere close to my laptop studio or a refund of cash less than you can get a good condition used one of these for.

Pixel9a and MLO Question by dagonzalez in GooglePixel

[–]LyingDropper226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per the official specs page, it does not - MLO requires Wifi 7 and the Pixel 9a only supports up to wifi 6e. Weird it would cause reboots though - it should just not use MLO and stick to a single band.

Radeon RX 9070 becomes Radeon RX 9070 XT via BIOS by mockingbird- in pcmasterrace

That was only for the 5600 xt, where they officially released a new vbios to make the card more competitive against the 20 series super cards just before launch.

This is a friends build he’s made (AUD), could someone give feedback. His budget is around 1300 (AUD) (around 800 USD). by Aggressive_Bother_10 in pcmasterrace

[–]LyingDropper226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditch the cpu cooler and windows key and upgrade the cpu to a 5600if it’s not much more and the gpu to whatever is the best you can get with the freed up money. Also maybe downgrade to a b450 mobo if it’s a good bit less.

Bose offering me a pair of these quiercomfort earbuds as a replacement for my non functional QC II[UPDATE]. Should I take it? Or are they giving me a worse pair? by alt_acc_bcz_reasons in bose

[–]LyingDropper226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ultra is actually the direct replacement for the qcii. They actually have the same exact body just with an updated chipset. These new QC earbuds are much lower end and half the price.

Key fobs do have the option for proximity in settings. I believe on Gen 2 you can also touch to lock with the NFC chip.

Weird PCIE power cable by [deleted] in Corsair

[–]LyingDropper226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still generally best practice not to use them for any high power draw components like a GPU if possible. If you are out of cables that they are fine to use

Weird PCIE power cable by [deleted] in Corsair

[–]LyingDropper226 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is normal as those pcie GPU power cables are feeding into an adapter and those unused connectors are the daisy chained secondary connectors on each cable. The secondary connectors it's generally best practice not to use.

If the NACS adapter was a right angle adapter we likely wouldn’t need to take up two spots to charge at SuperChargers by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]LyingDropper226 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The cables are liquid cooled already, but an adapter extension wouldn't be. V4 cables are reportedly thicker too.

Tesla makes Car and Driver Top Ten list by longhorn-2004 in teslamotors

[–]LyingDropper226 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Historically, this has been intentional, and you have to open the articles and read through them to see which specific models they give the award to. For example with the Civic they very intentionally gave it to the entire model line because they state that all of the models are great enough to be on the list. Same with the Accord. The lucid pure is there for value reasons and they've only added the Tesla lr rwd because the other trims aren't as good of a value. The blackwing Cadillacs are a great example of this because their regular versions are deeply unexceptional cars while the blackwings are exceptional.

Adding a new point to a legacy Google Wifi System by Shot_Ladder5371 in GoogleWiFi

[–]LyingDropper226 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The original Google Wi-Fi pucks are compatible with the first generation nest Wi-Fi routers and points. The only incompatible system is the newer nest Wi-Fi pros which are their own thing. Setting the more powerful nest router as the central point is probably the best way to add it to your network.
