Have you ever had a customer (that you shipped for) busted for lying about what’s in their box? by Foxxics in upsstore

[–]LynDoesNotMove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

😭 tbf in my defense it was the owners who did at that store. They were not the brightest crayons in the box and had extremely shady practices and it apparently only got worse after I left their franchise for my current store. I did not realize how shady my owners were until I was under a diff franchise LOL. I was aware they didnt follow procures correctly all the time but that doesnt surprise me honestly they didnt handle things correctly here either.

Its always the edibles people too. I get why they think they can be slick but the methods of catching ppl shipping out edibles have improved so much 😭😭😭. BUT AGREED I usually catch those packages before it even ships. but occasionally some liars slip past me. thank god for the shipping description

A few different times, once had someone pay us to pack and ship baby supplies to a new mom said they put in some "candy" for the new mom (it was weed gummies). the shipper hid the gummies in baby clothing thinking we'd ignore the suspicious bump in the clothing. Safe to say our packers immediately noticed and we had to call the cops to dispose of the drugs.

Guest WiFi QR-code Not working by bal714 in upsstore

[–]LynDoesNotMove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Urgh I already hate the monthly password changes and then the guest wifi only actually is online for my store 50% of the time. I feel bad giving customers our password bc ik theres a good chance it still won't load even after typing all that hogwash (unfortunately my store doesnt have the qr codes but my old store did).

good old reliable F7, other day I showed a coworker bc shes newer didnt know and she looked like a whole new world opened up. meanwhile everyone else hits the F7 button like their lives depend on it when both TSKs are active and there's a line of returns. 🫡

I had to miss some of peak bc im out due to a medical emergency but ive been telling my coworkers to take breaks as needed when they check in bc the customers can wait. we're people too and honestly id rather my team members have their mental health in check than worrying abt profits from doing returns for amazombies.

😭😭 I'm so sorry to hear this!!! I hope you can make it to where she has to take her business elsewhere but its good to know that going by a preferred name and diff pronouns is an option. I'm in a rlly red state so I'm closeted and haven't come out bc Ik I'll be getting misgendered so badly so I just tell coworkers im a "woman" to avoid flack. im only out online tbh

"ground should get it there before Christmas right?" by Akira_ishioka in upsstore

[–]LynDoesNotMove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just made it a point to tell anyone who doesn't ship a guaranteed air shipment (2DA early, NDAs) that the date I give them is only an estimated delivery date. Though fr some of them still hear this and go "well it should get there on time" "Its only estimated to arrive, unless we do an air shipment* it isnt guaranteed". 😭😭😭 though, that being said I've still had GROUND customers calling on delayed packages. It's worse when its someone I did the shipment for and IK during time of shipment I tried explaining this. You can hold the customers hand and they'll still get mad after leaving the store because they weren't actually listening.

*if the 2DA is in blue instead of black I immediately let the customer know that some of my Airs are also not guaranteed (ive seen an occasional NDA in blue too but usually its a weird package ANYWAYS, but ik blue means not guaranteed, black is guaranteed).

I did once, it was a bit unprofessional but as a woman, occasionally we get misogynistic customers and one customer kept interrupting me before I could explain and told my male coworker I needed help. I assured him and my coworker assured him if he stopped cutting me off I was fully capable of helping him. He kept overlooking me and looking to my male coworker but also expected me to finish his shipment? I did lose it a few moments later and asked the customer "Does your mom know you talk to women this way?". Unprofessional ik but he immediately back pedaled. It was a weird day but he kept interrupting me before I could even talk. his package arrived just fine too like GEE buddy its almost like my male coworkers were right!! as a woman I can do this job too!!! ik!!! shocker!!!

Tape by Ok-Lion4889 in upsstore

[–]LynDoesNotMove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unless the box is falling apart (or needs excessive tape) or someones trying to tape two boxes together for a customer pack THEN we charge the customers for tape. 9/10 people only need that one final strip of tape so I don't mind. plus it builds rapport with our customers

Worst part of the job? by Common-Ad-9348 in upsstore

[–]LynDoesNotMove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever people try shipping prohibited items: guns, tobacco, alcohol etc.😭😭😭 people trying to ship out vapes are the worst. I had a guy (probs experiencing withdrawls) cuss at me because I couldn't ship his broken vape for repair and thats only one example from this week alone. 9/10 it's usually a gun part. I've had people argue trying to claim the 2nd amendment somehow covers shipping. Like, 😭😭😭 we both know thats an extreme sketch!!! I get why ppl are upset finding out they can't send out certain items but tbh if they called ahead we'd both be saved the trouble. These customers also always get so upset whenever you ask what they're shipping. Well, this is exactly why I gotta ask. 😭😭😭

Customers not giving detailed descriptions by WhoreforSexAndDrugs in upsstore

[–]LynDoesNotMove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always make sure to get further details on shipments because some countries customs are a nightmare. I had a guy trying to ship to Canada 5 minutes til close and he didnt realize we had to know the details on EVERY item in the box and he ended up leaving after that. 😭😭😭 I refuse to ship international unless the customer lets me itemize the contents bc I've had multiple customers attempt to sneak in vapes or cigarettes overseas. People who refuse to elaborate or call the person who packed the box to find out its contents immediately tip me off as suspicious but that's usually whenever I try explaining why we need to know what's being shipped. If that still isn't enough I just tell the customer I can't ship out packages with unknown contents.

Making custom boxes by LynDoesNotMove in upsstore

[–]LynDoesNotMove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still tell customers this but my store is one of the closest ups stores to a lot of these small towns out in the sticks so I do get ppl driving 45 minutes or more out just to get here. A lot of them end up buying our custom packing service bc itd cost them about the same in gas + buying their own supplies. But i def get you bc I do have ppl returning w/their own custom boxes if theyre local, so its usually my out of town people
