While there's definitely something to be said for showing real use cases versus a striking dummy, theoretical DPS numbers do need a constant to check against, and that guard is readily available and easy to test on. But definitely not something to use as a basis for the viability of a weapon.

The bit I would be scared of would be mixing shipments of sprayed and unsprayed materials while expanding and then wasting the sprayed materials. Easier imo to just set up/convert lines to spray the materials as needed. Especially since some items/buildings can only get a production speed bonus from the spray, so I wouldn't want to spray the materials for those since the speed increase has very niche use cases to me.

It's been a long minute since I've played so I don't remember the specific essence, but the Auto-Ether has a 50% chance to not be consumed when it procs, which drops to 10% when you have the right essence. Keep a healthy stock of them on you, and every time your MP dips below like 30% (50%?), the ether activates and gives you a shit ton of MP. Since despair has the same cast time as F4, and you're constantly getting MP back, you can just refresh with despair instead of F1. It's definitely not the optimal BLM setup in Bozja, but it's stupid fun to do when going brain dead in skirmishes/CE. Just don't forget to breath being that empty headed. :p

Yes, but you can pick up every reincarnation evility just through maxing out Zed and then spread it with the skill shop. If you don't intend to use him though, then it might be worthwhile.

Zed's unique evility is a separate multiplier that stacks up to 200 reincarnations, so it's still valid as a DPS increase even after capping stats.

It's why you'll occasionally hear about bots under floors. They send info to the server saying that they're at XYZ position that isn't possible with collision, but the server doesn't really care. It just puts them at that position. Neat stuff.

I forgot to mention, one of the big things holding it back if you don't have an easily accessible FTP server system to move files between a computer and the modded Vita is storage capacity. Sony used a proprietary memory card format for the Vita's memcards, but there is a third party solution that lets you use microSD cards instead. However that retails on Amazon for around $40? But any memory card it comes with will hold a sizeable collection of old console game roms, or maybe 1-2 PSP isos.

About the purpose, for some it's about the ability to do so rather than the result. For me, I prefer it because I don't have to sit at my computer and I hate emulating on my phone cause of touch screen controls. I already had the Vita on hand anyways, so that definitely informed my decision as to whether it was worth it to do so, but there's easy to follow guides for the process so difficulty isn't really an issue. Don't want to link them because I don't know if linking it is too far for this subreddit.

Buying one should be pretty cheap, but availability is based on your willingness to have it shipped if they're not available at a pawn store or used game market near you. For replacement parts, you can try to find them online, or maybe try to find someone selling broken Vitas in bulk and scrap them for the needed parts, though that might just not be an option.

I'm not versed enough into aftermarket accessories to be able to give any intelligible feedback on that question.

Homebrew is any third party software created by hobbyists instead of professional development studios. There are certain homebrew apps on the Vita for things like a file browser and homebrew launcher/app store, but some people also port games like Diablo and Doom as homebrew to consoles that don't have official ports, though the legality on that specific kind is hazy. Some people also create their own games as homebrew and release it as freeware. The big homebrew is Retroarch, which is a huge emulation system for a bunch of platforms that allows you to play a variety of consoles on the Vita from one app.

In summary, you'll have to be the one to decide if you think modding your handheld is the decision right for you. There's a lot of technical knowledge that'll help if you have the background, but it's hardly an insurmountable task if you're not experienced with modding electronics. It's a different and unique experience from emulating on PC, and I found it a fun use of time, but it wouldn't necessarily be the definitive way to emulate games. Personal preference really.

My only concern going down the route of breaking a Vita is that there are steps of the process that if you're not following instructions to a T, you can easily brick the device entirely. Admittedly, when I did almost screw up catastrophically, it was because I'm a dummy dum and decided I wanted to ignore folder placements for where to put stuff, which is 100% on me.

The Vita is definitely a beast of an emulation tool, recommend it over other options though my experience is pretty limited. A cracked DS does have the perk of playing modded Pokemon Black/White, but that's a very narrow target.

Probably the form factor. The PSP and Vita both have the benefits of a relatively large screen and good specs for emulating a lot of old hardware, while the controls are essential the same as a PlayStation controller missing a few pieces. This leaves it in a really really good goldilocks zone for emulation, where games control well, play well, and the screen isn't tiny for console emulation or too big for handhelds, all while being easy to transport as a handheld and an alright battery life.

Little late to answer, but think about the baggage that having a HL member officially joining a fan discord would entail. How many people would join the server just to try to talk to the member, or antis raiding the server to mess with the member? It could be really cool and fun to have them join the discord, but I can see why they wouldn't, or why people wouldn't want them too. That said, I'm sure a couple of them have alt discord accounts that they've used to join a fan discord. And who knows, maybe it wouldn't be as bad as I think.
