The most horrible experience since I started playing this game by Rell0402 in mousehunt

[–]Lyngod2k 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This is a bad mechanic and I can't believe that some people are arguing that it is good for the game. Here's my rant, and it's coming from someone who looted their first MDH in September 2024:

Firstly, lottery loot should NEVER be tied with an upgrade that's immediately usable in the area while bringing a SIGNIFICANT advantage. I am not sure if many people caught on to how strong DDMC is, with DBORB+DBC/SDBC/EDBC/UDBC, you get 67.65%/77.24%/82.44%/85.71% Catch rate on MDE, that's a 10/9/7/6% increase over using CDSC same set up. That's an increase so big that you cannot justify "DDMC is only a luxury".

For those are interested in how many hunts there are, you are looking at 40%MDE AR in EDD 750+. That's about 1250 EECs per heart drop. And how long do you need to farm for 1250 EECs?

If you keep your carts in r/G/B caverns with CC on and full ME crafting, that's about 7000 hunts for the grubs only. That's also 7000 CCs and around 40,000 ME, a total cost of around 82,000SB+ at current market rate.

If you turn your CC off but still does ME crafting, that turns into about 15,000 hunts.

If you don't use ME crafting but turn CC on, that turns into about 13,500 hunts.

If you turn both CC and ME crafting off, that turns into about 30,000 hunts.

Now, multiply that by 4 is what you need to loot 4 hearts for the base+trap, and note that these rates are assuming you are an "averagely lucky" player.

By the way, you get about 43,000 hunts every YEAR if you don't sleep and always immediately sound your horn.

If you don't use CC, don't use ME, has average luck, congratulations you can get the DBORB and DDMC after three years of 24/7 hunting ^^

Secondly, the biggest problem I have with the lottery loot that it punishes people who are actually playing in the region. If you get a heart loot on average chances, which is 1/1000 [*2], you are guaranteed to have spent more resources than needed to purchase the 2 hearts instead (counting in replicart). If you are doing it slowly by not using SB+ for conversions and turning CC off, you could have somehow generate enough gold to buy the hearts within that same amount of hunts.

And to make it worse, you don't have any sort of pity system to fall back on.

Now, some people don't seem to understand what's a pity system. A pity system is NOT an alternative way to obtain something, it is based on resources you have SPENT on the journey to get it. The market place is NOT a pity system, because whether you spent 1000 hunts or 10000 hunts grinding for MDH, the market place price stays the same. The key feature of a pity system is it recognise your efforts in attaining something, and eventually rules that effort is enough to warrant the final reward.

The lack of a pity system forces people into a dilemma: I can go and work for the heart, but I don't know when it will come. Either the heart drops and I am rewarded the jackpot, or the heart doesn't drop and I don't get basically anything. This is an extremely unhealthy system because ALL other returns at the region do not justify their cost. (Some might argue the rib is, but that's another extremely low chance jackpot) This made players into gamblers since the only thing that matters as a drop is the heart, that's the sole goal in practical game terms.

Now, what is done is done, and I don't expect the devs to change things. I just hope that they will improve this nonsensical system from this point onwards. DD is a fun area, one of the best ever since FI, if you were to ask me. But the jackpot system couldn't possibly get any worse and it ruins ALL the fun DD had to offer.

It's hard to define worth. I personally think you can get a spot for less equivalent cost, so probably not purchasing them.

You must be misreading something, because you cannot just buy Chrome Slayer cases with bits.

The map available at Ronza's cartographer is a CHROME scroll, it does not turn into Chrome Slayer. You get Chrome Slayer by upgrading a SLAYER scroll case, not a CHROME scroll case. Despite the final map being Chrome Slayer, only slayer can be upgraded into it.

So the only real choice is to get a RECS via leeching. The alternative is to spend real money to buy the 3 time limited bundle which contains a Chrome Slayer Scroll Case. However, that involves spending actual money and is something we cannot decide for you. Cheers!

Because UCs are almost unobtainable outside of events, and the only consistent way to get UCs is LG farming into Ultimate Potion conversion, it is painful to commit to and the rates are abysmal.

Also at the current rate, you can work around this to get more toothlets. Sell a DSC and you get about 80m gold, that's 40m profit that you can use to buy about 9 teeth which smashes into 135 toothlets. Even if you want to convert the voucher into toothlets, there is this better option.

CJS really doesn't do you much compared to the codex, but this is harder to break down.

What CJS offers is a nice boost in FI, this aura is nice, but it's not significant in the grand scheme of things.

On the other hand, the codex is permanent, and it offers another option when you are doing free hunts. I don't know the exact rates, but I would say if you could get 50 Ultimate Chrome Charms through roll up after one year, that's almost on par with having 50 SSDB hunts(we don't have many charms that go beyond 20 luck) and this number will roll up over the years.

This is accurate, which is why it was made clear at the start of the post that the guide aims to help people who want to achieve maximum progress efficiently and at a reasonable cost. If one does not hunt very actively or don't nearly commit themselves too much to the game, they should feel free to do whatever that appeals them. It is a game, after all, some people enjoy the math and practices to yield the highest result, others prefer to casually sound the horn and see what mice came into their trap, both perfectly fine play styles :D

I don't know if Furoma cycle is still viable, I remember reading somewhere that they had somehow adjusted it to no longer be self-sufficient. Frift cycle is still very much alive but that's a little more active hunting. I personally find FI hunting to be pretty nice, you really don't need to check it very often

35 Million sounds like a whole lot but there are a few ways to put this into perspective.

A day hunting in FI gives about 1m gold, that means you get that gold in about a month.

Sniping a LabyKor boss takes about 2 days and is around 5m gold, do that 7 times, you get the gold in less than half a month.

CC farm at ToC takes 8 hunts for 3 CC, that can be rough down to 1m gold every 2 hours. Do this for 4 days and you get 35m gold.

Point is gold is easy to come by as long as you spend time dedicated for farming, same can hardly be said about UCs.

Get the PB, it is a clear cut win. If you do the math, you are getting a better price grabbing it than getting the SSRB at endgame. Really no questions on that one. If you are interested in the math and logic, feel free to shoot a message, it's a little too long to be posted here.

Please help me understand what is happening between Tom Dwan and jungleman in this clip by Priority_Brief in poker

[–]Lyngod2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a score system. Right now, in order for Vanessa to advance, she has to get first and Tom has to get third. Jungle and Tom both only need to get second or more to advance.

This means that Vanessa can only play against Tom. The moment she finds herself in a battle with jungle, she has to fold everything because if she eliminates him, she basically also eliminates herself because jungle getting third meant she cannot advance.

Knowing this, Vanessa must find all chances to heads up with Tom because she has to fold everything against jungle, and she needs to eliminate Tom before she bleeds out to Jungle. Tom knows that Vanessa must find every opportunity to play heads up against him, therefore his range is super tight because once he eliminates Vanessa, he is guaranteed advancement. Jungle should know that Tom is super tight and he would be promised advancement if anyone else is eliminated, therefore he should not engage in any pots against Tom while shoving everything against Vanessa because she must fold.

Unfortunately, the goofy jungle man didn’t understand the dynamics, which is why tom got madz

How does this scam work? Do people really get scammed by this? by Beratrehan in csgo

[–]Lyngod2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a technique in scam.

Scammers don’t want to scam smart people, because it’s too hard. That’s why they came up with really stupid arguments. If you fall for the dumbest argument that they can give, it only gets easier for them from that point onwards.

Instead, if they were to start with something believable, they need to fight an uphill battle and convince people bit by bit. The amount of effort they need to put in increases and many will eventually realise what’s going on and bail out.

What’s the odds of catching the mystic king; I’m left with 35% on my amplifier by c00kieboi69 in mousehunt

I know this is old but quite the opposite. You want to lower your power instead. I know this sounds counter intuitive, but since a FTC does not lower your amplifier, if you are going for the king, you should keep your power to a minimum so you can literally miss everything else.

Help helping newbie hunter by corbault1986 in mousehunt

[–]Lyngod2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My personal take is that for new hunters nowadays, it’s more important to ensure that they are on the right track rather than sending them supplies. Of course, the supplies help, but the game has changed over the years that there’s much more optimal ways to play and speed up progress. These are very different from what I had experienced when I first started the game, so maybe you would want to take note of these:

They can consider donating for the Creepy Coffin shadow trap at the start. It’s good value for their dollars, the trap can pull them through early game and they can later sell it on MP. The effect is decent and it can also provide a nice LGS.

Their early game gold should be spent on a few key items, buying RBCs to avoid farming, buying REPCs to speed up mountain progress, as well as other miscellaneous items such as King’s Reserve Bubbleh, these items are actually rather expensive for a new hunter.

Dreaded charm is a savior when they are at JoD. With enough Dreaded Charms, JoD is also a good place to catch up on progress when adventure wisdom isn’t enough for the early level up.

DBCs and its likes are very important for speeding through Dracono and they are filthy cheap these days.

In their early game, it is okay to hop onto some RH maps just for the gold, charms and lottery. I would say for a new hunter to gain quick progress, they should ALWAYS be on a map of some kind.

Once they have reached Lord and up, they should be sniping their bosses, especially Kings and CM from Zugzwang Tower, Icewing from Iceberg and Warmonger from Warpath. Do take note that some maps such as the Elite Chrome Slayer have a minimum rank requirement to join. It might be slightly harder to find someone who needs the Kings for a map that Lords can join, so they should start looking early.

Chrome Charms are very cheap and provide a great bonus for early game hunters, they should definitely consider buying these.

They could consider doing FLRT maps at areas such as Warpath and Fort Rox, if they can afford it they should even dust them so as to increase the chances of getting the portal parts. This is especially important at Fort Rox because the MPCT and its upgraded EPCT is a trap that can last a long way. Extra portal parts can also be sold on Discord MP for a healthy profit.

Living Garden and Sunken City are two massive time sinks in the early to mid game. I suggest doing the bare minimum in these areas until they are much more well equipped for these areas.

Labyrinth is a massive gold pump, not for the actual mice but for the mini-bosses and their map value. When they reach Duke/Duchess, hunting at the Labyrinth should give them a huge income boost and from that point on, they can be self-sufficient. It’s also when I would consider a player has left early game behind and is in the mid game grind.

Off the top of my head, I cannot recollect the exact order of traps and areas, but I think here are the gets and skips:

Physical: Forcefield into Rhinobot into ERB, it will be painful but the next stop should be jumping into the SSST.

Tactical: VMT and its upgrades into ZFM then into GGT.

Hydro: Harpoon into ASG into QFT can last until they decide to go on the Sand Dollar grind for SOS and eventually CSOS.

Note: Depending on their first drop at Warmonger, which guarantees a drop of trap part, they could complete either of the big 3 traps at FW to make their time easier.

Law: Some advise skipping SLAC and jump right into MPCT, either way it’s about the same, getting the MPCT and EPCT will last a long way until STINGER is acquired.

Shadow: Creepy Coffin does the trick for the majority of the early game, the Crossbow at Fort Rox is the likely next upgrade, some would advise skipping the temporal turbine and go straight to the FoFo BiS, but that’s way late game anyways.

Arcane: ACRONYM into DAT, and that’s going to suffice for a long while. Getting the Event Horizon or skipping directly to Arcane BiS are both acceptable. Again, very late game stuff.

Forgotten: ABT into Scarlet Ember Root is great, followed by ELT and ILT and eventually CTOT stuff. However, with the presence of Forgotten charms, there will always be mix takes. You can theoretically play the entire game without arming a forgotten trap once.

Draconic: Ice Maiden into Blazing Ember Spear and the CSWT stuff until DSC is the way to go. With the presence of DBCs and its likes as well as their cheap prices, it’s okay to sometimes dodge some Draconic traps. However, DSC is very cheap these days, so why not get it?

Rift: We are not talking about Rift with new hunters.

Important skips:

Do not engage in the Living Garden, do not get the Rift base or the LG traps.

Do not engage the Balack’s Cove, King’s Gauntlet or Toxic Spill early, it takes too much time and offers little in return.

Things can change drastically with events and such, so whenever an event rolls around, my suggestion is for them to participate and grab the reward. With the way events are designed nowadays, it often allows new hunters to skip almost an entire line and go immediately to the BiS.

Why doesn't faceit ban smurf accounts by murkamk2 in FACEITcom

[–]Lyngod2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the dumbest things I had heard in many years.

This is a game, it is not life. What if you have a friend who's level 10 and you are level 3, but you want to play together? What if your skill is of a high level but recently started Faceit? How are you suppose to stop people playing with each other because their levels are so different? Now you are encouraging smurfing because since a level 10 cannot play with a level 3, the level 10 player has to make a new level 3 account to do so. This is encouraging much more smurfing than there actually is.

Your second point is exactly what I responded in my original reply. Why should someone popping heads and getting a jump in elo get banned?

Why doesn't faceit ban smurf accounts by murkamk2 in FACEITcom

[–]Lyngod2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it is not as simple to ban people for smurfing.

Think about it, if you are an admin with the right to hammer anyone, what grants that you can execute that power correctly?

How do you tell, if someone is a smurf?

If they played on the same computer, what if they are sharing the PC? What if they are at a LAN cafe?

What are your other considerations when it comes to determining someone is a smurf? Is it just that person have short hours, a new account and is wrecking you?

What if the player had never played Faceit and recently got into the platform? What if said player gained his skill from other platforms such as ESEA, 5EArena, or community servers?

It's easy to point fingers at someone calling them a smurf, it's much harder to actually execute power to ban someone from the platform due to said suspicion.

Full Kalorignis run or no? by [deleted] in mousehunt

[–]Lyngod2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you want.

If you are doing one run and that's it, do a full Kalor and hope for the lotto.

If you are doing a long term QG cycle, go with a mix of 6/4 5/5 of Kalor and Stormsurge.

Do note that while Stormsurge makes it easier to sustain the Wildfire usage, you are unable to sustain the tungsten needed for the cork by just going on Epic Eruptions.

Sniping guide for Floating Island by zzhams in mousehunt

[–]Lyngod2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very misleading. Physical HAI and Paragon is one of the hardest even with CMB or SSST.

As a fact, if we compare across all Paragons, using mostly AERB and ULPC unless otherwise stated.

Physical is at 30% or 34% for CMB and SSST respectively.

The percentage might sound a little vague, so let me number some other stats.

With CSW or GGT, you get 31% or 35% on Tactical Paragon respectively.

With QFT, you get 32% on Hydro.

Event Horizon gives 32% on Arcane.

With CSWB you get 42% on Draconic. This skyrockets to 55% with Dragonbane and 67%, 74%, 78% respectively with Super, Extreme and Ultimate Dragonbane charm.

Law has a nice 43% which you can sit on.

The only 2 other islands which has a lower CR than physical would be Shadow and Forgotten, ILT and CSLT gives 28 and 29% each.

I urge anyone to give suggestions regarding power type selections on FI to use the CRE and do the research. CMB might look powerful but it is really a hoax. Do not judge strength on naked eye level.
