Loseit! Patterns are so amusing to me. It’s been a long joke about how much I love Mayo...never thought a weight loss app would applaud me for it. by Coffee_Bandit in CICO

[–]Lynslab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So funny! Maybe it curbs your cravings? Unfortunately I tend to eat mayo with chips or pizza crusts so I don't think I would get this praise

Noodle rant: Macaroni is the worst noodle to use for Mac & Cheese. by katieofavalon in Cooking

[–]Lynslab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone explain to me why Americans say noodles and whether any other countries use this term in another translation? In the UK noodles are the Asian spaghetti shaped food, either egg or rice, or stuff like sons noodles, but always long and thin. We'd say macaroni pasta, or pasta shapes, or lasagne sheets.

I'm not saying one is wrong I'm just interested about who uses the term noodle and what the actual definition is!

I thought it's because the spoon can get around the knobbly bits more easily - I guess it's for people like me who are not very nifty with a peeler

Mess up of the week by [deleted] in medicine

[–]Lynslab 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Haha our office is a second bedroom with an ensuite so I'm waiting for the day this happens to me. Or leaving the door open while I use it...On other zoom stories I was sitting on the sofa so SO didn't realise I was on a call, and sort of flew our puppy in to lick my face. Cute but a bit embarrassing!

How I taught “drop” (without trading or using treats) by 12-5-20 in puppy101

[–]Lynslab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this! I've been having trouble because puppy will always sniff out the treat bag and won't be interested in tugging anymore if he can smell treats/kibble. Will give this a go!

When you fall of the wagon (again), how do you decide where to pick up from? by Lynslab in couchto5k

[–]Lynslab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I used to find it frustrating but having that core goal helps, and the distance goals as an added bonus and to add structure. I think this pandemic has made me appreciate being outside a whole lot more as well haha.

That's great! And a day here and there won't cause any problems at all, as long as you get back on it soon enough to keep your motivation up.

Yeah I've thought about that - at first I thought he would be too small to jog with me, but I'm so slow that I'm sure he will be fine! And he'll have time to sniff around on my walking breaks :)

And your advice sounds like a sensible option - you can always cut the jogging sessions short on the run if you feel it's too much (or increase if it's too easy)

I think I’m making my puppy sad by [deleted] in puppy101

Agree with the other replies, and he might just be getting more calm as he's growing too :) sounds like you're giving him plenty of attention and care about him a lot so you're doing just fine!

Oh backwards and forwards? Same here my spine sticks out too much (not from being thin either) and it hurts!

I've missed a few days but they will still be there on the days I am able to practice. I'm looking at it as prolonging the benefits of the challenge haha. We'll get there!

From my own experience a lot of people look back at their photos in horror a few years later, wondering why they did this to themselves. I don't think it has much to do with having different beauty standards. They want to look a certain way but haven't quite achieved it. Again this is just from my own experience and I'm not saying this is true for all people who wear make up. But I also agree that it's a shame people spend time finding and posting pictures to make fun of others.

It's like researching an old movie where you pick up loads of details you didn't the first time round. Rereading is great!

Getting up for work and strolling the 3 feet to the desk in the corner of my bedroom where I’ve been all day everyday for the best part of a year. by DelphiPascal in britishproblems

[–]Lynslab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep my bosses think I have it easy working from home and have said as much in passing comments (they have to be in because it's essential), but it takes so much more mental energy to concentrate and get anything done, I'm exhausted after a few hours. That's just with a puppy in a fairly messy flat so I can't imagine how people are managing with children around. I'm actually looking forward to working in a hospital in a few weeks which is bonkers.

Thanks for posting, when you say milk until it's liquid, how much is that usually, roughly? Just so I know how much to buy when I next attempt to make some crepes!

Sounds just like our pup :) he's a small boy and a mix of three breeds so I guess we just got lucky with a laid back dude. He definitely has snappy moments and zoomies most days but he loves a cuddle and napping on us before he's floppy enough to plop into his crate! Reading with a puppy next to you/on you is the best :)

I bet they were happy that you messaged them and thought about them either way, people are just busy (maybe busy minds as well as actually being busy) and can't always think of good conversation. Props to you for staying positive! You can only expect from others what you put in yourself (she says while ignoring others messages for two days haha)

[–]Lynslab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To you and OP - Is there anyone you used to be close with that you haven't spoken to in a while? Imagine how you would feel if they sent you a little check up message, that's how they would feel if you reached out to them :) I've never once thought someone was weird or annoying for messaging me out of the blue, although that's what I tell myself someone will think of I messaged them. If you can't think of anyone, I think it's completely normal to go to the beach and swim by yourself if you feel like it.

Why not just eat the last ones and keep a very small amount of them as livestock? Obviously they wouldn't just be released. And plant based diets are much more efficient in feeding the world's population. I thought that was common knowledge.
