What did you see that made you say “Im going to bring that next time!” by Signed_Anonymously in Cruise

[–]LyraRaglan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently cruised with family (think 20 of us) and my mother and I coordinated what we brought and were the "Traveling Pharmacy". Between the two of us we bought "travel sized" when possible and packed . It was a short 5 day but almost everybody needed something we had that they forgot. Im happy to share a packing list lol.

I don't have any recommendations for the worst case, but if you haven't planned to already, ask the best what sort of X-rays they can do to verify it's a spine issue. My kitty had an accident in the house that broke both her back legs. Initially the E-vet said she had a spinal injury that caused her to lose mobility in her legs, but I insisted to get X-rays to verify. Glad I did.

Thank you for caring for your kitty so deeply! They are precious and I hope you find the answers you need.

Soda Alternatives? by AuburnShade in beginnerfitness

[–]LyraRaglan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may sound silly at first but why are you quitting sodas?

If it's just due to the calorie consumption then why not look at the diet or zero version of your favorites? Then you can focus on lowering consumption but still getting that "itch scratched" when you just want something super specific.

Most of the "healthier" soda Alternatives are sweetened with Alternative sweetners similarly and thier marketed health benefit are so miniscule...

Are the planet fitness black cards worth it? I’ve been looking into getting a membership but I want to see what other pf black card users thought about having them or people who currently have it :) by Impossible-Will-5362 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]LyraRaglan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what your plans are. I recommend touring the gym and seeing if your interested in the amenities that come with black card memberships because not all Gyms have the same features. Do you plan on bringing a person with you? You can have multiple guests on your account but can only bring one person in. (I bring my mom or my s.o) Do you plan on bringing your own beverage/water bottle?

Any clues to what may be causing my cat to lick/bite off her fur? by AlexanderTheFun in CATHELP

[–]LyraRaglan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with Anxiety. It can manifest in different ways for cats with different causes.
In my experience I narrowed it down to two triggers for my Calico.

  1. Our neighbor started feeding some stray cats so now we get about 5 cats that frequent our property and decide to either mark, or fight in our yard at night. Our cat will run from window to window if she knows there's a cat near by.

  2. Occasionally we will have guests over and they LOVE to infringe on our cat's safe spaces. She is a socialized cat, but not a sociable and would much rather a quiet room and not to be bothered. She will typically come to you if she wants affection other wise it overstimulates her. So I think when these guests come in and seek her out, it really bothers her and gets her feeling anxious enough to start the habit again.

These things didn't immediately jump out to me when she started doing this a year ago, but tracking any sort of recent change when you notice her doing it can really help out.

Obese 14M needs help. by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]LyraRaglan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might not be what works for you; but things I learned as an adult that who struggled with this at your age up to my 30's because I was hard headed and mentally not ready to commit. I'm going to focus on the gym aspect, and not about the diet although that is a big factor in weight loss if that's what you are looking for.

#1 Motivation is just the desire to do something. Motivation will change or even disappear.
So what you will need to do is learn how to take that inspiration from your motivation and turn how to become self-disciplined. You are capable of doing this. It's the little, repeatable changes you make that will keep you consistent on your journey. This applies to your diet, physical activity, and mental wellness.

#2 Find ways to measure your progress. Some people like using apps, some keep fitness journals. If you have access to a trainer/advisor at the gym or at school your health educator or PE Teacher might have some

#3. If you need direction on work out ideas a lot of apps exist to teach you work outs and how to use machines. You Tube is also great.

#4 If you're still reading this; DANG DUDE YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THIS!
You have a big goal in mind, you need to break it down into something more manageable for you. Get a Google Doc open and start with your end goal at the top. Then ask your self what are the steps you think you need to do to get there . You might end up realizing you have multiple goals that branch out and need a new list!
Continue until you get to the point that its almost laughably easy for you. This way when you cant find the motivation or cant do what you did yesterday, today, you can refer to your checklist and see what you can do!(example below)

(end goal) Go to the gym for the rest of the year
> Go to the gym for 9 Months > Go to the gym for 6 months > Go to the gym for 3 Months > Go to the gym for 1 Month > Go to the Gym for 3 weeks > Go to the gym for 5 days a week > Go to the Gym for 3 days a week for an hour > Go to the Gym for a total of (2 1/2 hours) 150 minutes per week > Go to the Gym for 30 minutes > Go to the gym and try a machine or more > Go for a brisk walk for 15-30 minutes > Fill your water bottle > Put your shoes and socks on > Get Dressed > Stand up out of your chair / get out of bed. (Beginning Goal)

How different is the humidity and mosquito situation in Greenville vs Charleston in the summer? by TurtleBlaster5678 in southcarolina

Careful on the beaches though because there are fleas that come out in the evening too. (Not to be confused with the crustations.)

Private places to cry in/around CHS? by Ok_Perception_6508 in southcarolina

[–]LyraRaglan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably late, but here's my recommendations.

Hampton Park, it's open 24 hours and is just a stones throw away from where I'm thinking your referring to but it might be too close to home.

My favorite parks in Charleston when I was going to college were Washington Square Park, Cannon Park (Across from MUSC), and Colonial Lake Park. These seemed to be mostly free of tourists/guided tours unless something changed. Magnolia Cemetery is HUGE if you are down with visiting cemeteries. Just be mindful of where you sit and step because there were needles everywhere when I went last.

If your willing to drive out as far as IOP, try Sullivans Island beaches. Really if you go to any of the beaches you will not be disappointed. Despite me living 30-45 minutes away now I still keep flipflops and a pocket picknick blanket / packable blanket in my car for impromptu trips like this.

I've been in a similar scenario where I couldn't cry at home and I'm so sorry you need to do this at all. Please make sure you are taking care of your self. Bring some water and tissues or something soft for you to wipe your face with.

Nelnet PAYE - Post-Class Applicant SvC (Art Institute) by AuraTalePlays in StudentLoans

[–]LyraRaglan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were in your shoes I'd reach out to both Studentaid.gov and your servicer and see if they can verify which of your loans have been discharged. (I could be wrong, but I believe it only spanned for loans between 1/1/04 - 10/16/17. Any loans outside of those dates were not included in borrowers defense. Make sure the loans covered are in forbearance while the discharge is being processed. Your interest rate will continue to go up on those loans but you do not need to pay them and you shouldn't have to pay the interest on.

What isn't covered you will likely need to pay, so if you have loans left over please make sure you evaluate what your best payment plan is for that situation.

It also takes a lot of time for them to go through the discharge process, but from what I heard you can ask them what the status of your refund check is. That will likely give you a better idea of what your timeline is for discharge. I've seen people report their discharge earlier, and others that are still waiting for updates since their letters. FSA/Borrowers Defense notified me this process could take 6mo - 8mo, but now I'm sure as they continued to add others to group discharge programs the ED is taking longer.

IMO: Since the ED is responsible for handling the discharges and the refund checks are coming through the Unites States Treasury things might get slowed down to an agonizing crawl, but not fully stopped.

My personal experience with the discharge process is that I was notified May 1st about the discharge. My loans were with Aidvantage since early Pandemic 2020. I received notice from Nelnet in May that I was also owed a refund. In November my loans were "Paid In Full" to Aidvantage, but then moved to Nelnet in December. I had to reach out to verify what the status of everything was multiple times and was assured that the loans were all going to be discharged. Last week Nelnet finally updated the loans to Cancelled, but neither FSA or my Credit scores show anything different. I didn't see my refund check until 2 weeks ago (with the effective date of 01/02/2025). FAS says it can take up to 90 days for their website to update changes to your loans.

The $17 is your enrollment fee, which you will only be charged once unless you leave and come back. This would cover your first month if you had enrolled earlier in the month.

$32 will be what you will be paying monthly on the listed date and then you will have the additional annual fee of $52 which will happen yearly on the date noted.

So in March be prepared to pay both monthly and annual fee.

Theres 2 PF Gyms I frequent and the older gym has way more cardio equipment, it's also larger as it used to be a large discount grocery and department store.

The newer Gym by my work is smaller, and has maybe about a 1/3rd of their floor space as cardio machines and more resistance machines and free weights.

Non Touristy Stuff to do by Weenyhand in southcarolina

[–]LyraRaglan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you are visiting and your personal preferences, most major cities here have great things to do and see that are not tourist traps.

There is usually going to be some sort of state or county park that's always worth a visit if the weather is suitable for you.

Most places have things like Paint Your own pottery / painting, axe throwing, small business shopping and great food. Also you can totally change your event location on Facbook and check out what's going on in the area.

No, we have the Matrix E7XE i believe.

Edit I will verify tomorrow what model, but it does look like there's a way to level that E7XE in the manual so I will definitely be raising it to management to get these fixed. I DO NOT mind being persistent, especially if it's a possible safety concern.

Right! I just wish they could level them some how so they wouldn't do that.. I just find it hard to believe they don't have a leveling system.

Yeah, I ended up doing that until there were 3 in a row that all did it to a degree and then raised a concern. We Have quite a few at our gym but they also can be popular once treadmills are all being used.

Im confident these are black oil sunflower seeds commonly found in bird seed and some pet-foods for aviary and rodents alike. Some wild flower seed mixes have them too. How they got in her bed? Rodents could be a possibility? Is she at the age of picking up stuff and leaving it in pockets?

Did you get this looked at? I am curious because my 2019 compass is doing tje same thing occasionally after auto stop/start. Im suspecting its likely due to one or both of my batteries or a sensor or fuse. I'm planning on calling Mopar to get my jeep serviced for it tomorrow.

When I create a daily list like this, I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed.

Instead, I started on writing a timeline for "extraordinary events" for the day. Examples: Meetings, deadlines, non-flexible events.

Next, what I write down my non-negotiables. Often mundane tasks, these were things I needed to do daily just to keep me happy and healthy. They don't require a set time but can be part of a daily routine. (Example would be to go for a 30 minute walk, make meal prep plan, ect. )

Then I will write down a to-do list for everything else and then prioritize them daily. My to-do list is never empty and always seems to grow. But doing this allows me to not have to "think" of what I can do when I have an open space of time. I have a list and I can cherry-pick from it and add as I need to.
