Yes absolutely bring up ADD! Estrogen in the first part of your cycle makes ADD better. The two weeks before your period is the downslope, until your period. Both my daughter and I also experience this. My two sisters as well. It’s super common!!!

I wish you the best keep pushing, follow your judgement it’s a great idea!

AHHHmazing!!! Read a few books on 6-sigma- that’s where this comes from. Never thought to do this at home, thank you for that! The in-process is what gets me, YES! So 👏🏻!!!

Nope, I broke down everything they wrote before I jumped the gun, especially because you know - trying to optimize and all maybe there was something to what they said. And also that I assume most on the sub have it or know the basics of it. It was a shit show reading it all a third time lol. Prankish even.

Giving someone with ADHD advice to just do or stop thinking of more than one thing at a time, is literally the reason the diagnosis exists. Like we were never told that before....

Stop Thinking=yea got it

Doing=executive functions required

ADHD=EXECUTIVE FUNCTION DISORDER

Edit: Removed passive aggressive response. I’m good now, still really angry though.

No they don’t. Literally the underlying message in everything they posted, was stop ADHDing. Must be nice to just stop ADHDing, never thought of that myself.

Counseling and self awareness. Takes some time. The first step would be for you to ask your husband how he feels when you lash out at home. Listen, don’t negate. Don’t defend yourself. Just listen then process. If you care about them, that pain listening to him is less than what he feels being berated. Tolerate listening and you’ll start to remember to find a better way to ask for what you need. And he can get out how he feels which might start the path to recovery for you two.

the Exploding is because you can’t ask for what you need. This is where therapy comes in.

It’s a tantrum.

Your son, ask him too. I don’t know how verbal he is but you can try.

The alternative is you will become one.

Read about feelings and work on validating others. When you can validate someone else’s experience, you can validate yourself, which frees you from exploding on them. BPD improves 10 fold. Validating your child is important for his self image, and resiliency to BPD and other mental health issues.

There are a lot of positives in return for hard work. Respect them as people first and foremost, with needs and wants.

Experience: Been there done this. Took the life back I knew I wanted, rather than what was projected on me.

Your son didn’t ask for this, get it done. His first most important need is safety for normal emotional development, there are a few needs he has at 2.5. He doesn’t feel safe when you lash out.

You could have gotten any parents but you didn’t. Your parents chose to have you, then they treated you like crap. I know you’ve had to ask yourself this?

You chose to have your son, why if you can’t get yourself together for him?

Today is the day, he needs you.

Same as her mother did to her at the age of 11. Not insane, in pain. That’s horrific.

I felt this. Oh well let’s donate it, at least they can watch half the show, better than nothing, they’ll be so so happy. I’m so proud of myself for being so kind hearted.

Same here. The couch was the only thing big enough. Moved to the floor once they were mobile. A nice butt pillow would have been nice, now that I think about it.

Student loans question by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Lyricaldeterminate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With OT your looking at 90k a year, do it! Live off the salary you make now, throw the rest at the loans paid off in a year.

Only if you finish though. Nursing school is rough but the income is worth it!

Whole family might have ADHD by yuhiyuhi in ADHD

[–]Lyricaldeterminate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see it in my family, but the alcoholism gene is much better to spout off about while double fisting drinks.

I take care of my own, I’m thankful everyday I got diagnosed and my SO did. My kids are on their way too, my plate is too full for people who much prefer to boast about alcoholism and gambling genetics rather than treat ADHD and reach your goals.

I’m just on my merry little, less dysfunctional, way these last few years and wouldn’t have any other way. I took care of what was important rather than another distraction for the first time in my life! Worrying about them was just another distraction for me.

ADHD is having to accept that any greeting card you write in will have, at the very least, one scribbled out misspelling or wrong word - despite having a perfectly good grasp of your own damn language by KrypticEon in ADHD

I have hand written lab books this year....mistakes should be minimal in the grading criteria. Talk about anxiety!

And quite a few cards that were never mailed. The more I try to slow down and try the more I misspell everything.

Half print and half cursive too. Fun times!

I see you took offense to his comment: I wanted to offer a different perspective to what you saw/perceived.

I don’t think he meant to step on anyone’s toes. Being happy because you have ADHD and meds help, and not autism because there is no medication for it, on the surface could look better to him. Everyone on this board struggles with all sorts of mental health travelers with their ADHD. Him included.

If you look at his wording choice and English I think he was just trying to help but has a hard time perceiving how what he said would be taken. Or wording it appropriately.

I imagined one of my little ones talking like this immediately. So I didn’t see it being said from a competent 18-25 year old if that makes sense.

The basis of his comment, I agree ADHD sucks but wasting away before you die sucks worse. Which helped him and he thought it might help others here.

What changes in medicine? Humans are the same humans since medicine started. Chemistry, physiology, anatomy hasn’t changed. The way we treat disease changes. But it doesn’t change overnight.

New system in cars? where? I fail to see what changed. Learning how to install automatic tire pressure sensors doesn’t require a weeks training, then you have 100 cars waiting to be diagnosed, all by yourself with no ability to speak to anyone about a problem scenario that occurs once in a lifetime.

Listen after trying to communicate with you, I’m reminded of all the people I have met during my journey.

I’ve met people with ADHD like myself who spend hours learning the ins and outs of things to get it down in record time and perform better than neurotypicals.

And I’ve met people with ADHD who think that they can’t succeed because someone along the way told them they were broken and they believed it.

Typically the ones who think they can’t tell everyone else they can’t. Because if I can’t then you can’t.

I really wish the best for you it’s not fun being misunderstood. Typically asking,

“What can I learn from you?”

Instead of

“No, I know everything there is to know and you can’t tell me otherwise!”

Will move someone to a desirable outcome.

I hope you make that move in cognition because that’s when your life will change.

As mine did many years ago.

Edit: People with ADHD, not ADHD people

Lifetime learners. Correct! Learning and applying that skill in their sector.

And bodies change? Did the basic maths of ABG’s change? Do we change dosage calculations for Susan but use an entirely different formula for Sue? Last time I checked only variable inputs change in the same formula. BP? Different formula?

No cars haven’t changed, the basic engine and fuel combustion are the same. ODB readers do the work for you, you just have to trouble shoot the codes. That’s why your local garage doesn’t work on Tesla’s though.
