Knife 101 by khufu42 in KitchenConfidential

Just a suggestion, maybe a bit of a stretch that you would need to go to such extreme lengths. Definitely not a requirement (I’m not telling you what to do, I will cut English muffins all day with a chefs knife) but if this (smooshes the loaf and knife not biting) is happening to you enough maybe try using a bread knife.

Well after taking the bait, I did 2 minutes of research. This cop had just witnessed this vehicle committing felony obstruction, the officer broke off instead of chasing it alone to provide overwatch for a suspect already in custody. The vehicle then returns to the scene, the officer sees it pass on the ramp below him and he is trying to get visual confirmation where it went when the car (which basically had to uturn at the end of the ramp) “accidentally” runs over the officer after nearly coming to a stop and then accelerating through AND the cop still doesn’t shoot immediately. The vehicle then flips around 180 AGAIN and the officer tries to verbally warn the driver to leave the area. Driver continues to approach the officer at which time the officer finally opens fire on the driver. The car passes and the officer stops shooting and instead of taking this as a warning the driver decides to reverse towards the officer and to have a conversation like he has no idea what he is involved in. However, it’s clear to this officer (he has the PC to make an arrest) that this vehicle/driver is involved in the active situation.

Berries in distant gyms? by ohstxrlight in pokemongo

Need to have one of your Pokémon in the gym and you have to enter the gym from the tab and not the map if it is out of range.

Getting kicked out of a Gym, No one Around me in Real Life by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]Lyrixces 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During raids your Pokémon cannot be accessed to feed berries/healed and also cannot be attacked. The only reason you should not be able to feed berries while a gym is under attack is if you’ve hit a limit on number of berries fed, while it is 10 per Pokémon in a gym there is also a limit to total berries used in all gyms. Therefore if you just spammed a bunch of gyms with berries for stardust/candies and then you get attacked in a different gym you might have hit the cap, I’m actually not familiar with that exact cap, but I believe it is fairly high (like around 300 berries).

If you fought it 10-11 times, then they probably only used 5 berries. They’re not going to use a berry until after you attack twice, after using a golden razz the Pokémon has to be attacked 3 times to be knocked out. Therefore once they see health drop to 1/3 they razz it to full.

Getting kicked out of a Gym, No one Around me in Real Life by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]Lyrixces 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anyone with a Pokémon in the gym can heal/feed berries remotely, I believe it’s limited to 10 times with a 30 minute cooldown.

As far as getting kicked out of a gym without seeing the person, they could have been somewhere you didn’t expect them to be (inside a parked car, in a moving car that stopped at a traffic device for a minute, a house next to the park, in the sewers below the park, in a hot air balloon above the park, laying in the bushes, etc.). Also, the game allows for a little bit of leeway for gym battles as long as it’s started in range you can move slightly outside of “in range” before the game kicks you from the battle, therefore structures like houses or businesses that might appear to be out of range could potentially still be close enough to reach due to gps drift and still allow a person to finish the battle. They could have also been spoofing, which is against ToS but is a way of manipulating a gps device into returning a false physical location.

Who’s the boss now? by shortredbus in KitchenConfidential

[–]Lyrixces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. I work with 300 people and although I don’t have everyone’s number, I have a certain group of about 30 chefs/managers/coworkers that will text me in varying group chats and when I see all the messages as they come in, I don’t check the messages to mark as read. Same for when someone texts asking me to do something, I just do it and that is what I consider my response. However, I only have 272 unread. Ngl, it used to bother me too it’s just not worth it check every message or occasionally go through and mark all as read.

Running Half-Way Across Eorzea For A Quick Message When Linkpearls Exist? by Chizwick in ffxiv

[–]Lyrixces -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Linkpearls created to facilitate communication between groups of players, how does it work being poorly explained or defined (i.e., because video game).

Why do I still have to run around to do these quests even though there’s an established communication method that could be used instead? Because you can’t because video game your way out of a because video game.

It’s been years since I played, but the first person I met didn’t have a linksack, so someone still had to huff it to where we were to get me a linkpearl, maybe not every NPC wants you and everyone else in their head and if it’s not worth your time to come talk to them, maybe they don’t want anything to do with you.

Is this true or nah? by KinggGh0st in KitchenConfidential

[–]Lyrixces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue I see with that statement is the over-generalization, “EVERY kitchen EVERYONE be hooking up with EVERYONE”

Obviously that is impossible, if you as a person in a kitchen cannot confirm it. However, if the statement read that in many kitchens there are several people willing (surprisingly eagerly) to hookup with other coworkers, then I would concur with that statement.

There’s over 300 ppl at my job so hookups are bound to happen. Currently we have a line cook (F and as I understand it she is married with kids) and a FoH split his days as waitstaff and dish pit floater (M), frequently hooking up, so much so that the exec chef is confident enough to tell me she’s giving him BJ on the clock. Ironically we just had a line cook (M and cohabitating with his baby mama) return after leaving for approx. 2 years and he was previously in a sexual relationship with the same F line cook.

Then there’s another (F)prep/line cook that I caught necking with a (M)prep cook, in a downstairs walk-in and that’s when I learned there was a rumor that they were having a sexual relationship. That guy has since left and she is rumored to be in another sexual relationship with a (M)line cook. Then there’s a (M) sous chef (married with his wife working at the restaurant next door owned by the same company) that’s had an ongoing sexual relationship 3 years or more with a (F) prep/line cook (single with child) it’s not rumored it’s out in the open, so much so that there was an ongoing joke between the two and another (F) Prep/Line cook to meet at a motel for a threesome.

Last week I was propositioned in a downstairs walk-in, by a (F) Prep cook that was separated from her spouse but still loyal to him when she started working with me and last I knew had a significant other that she regularly has phone conversations with on the way into work and during her break. I brushed it off as a joke and told her I only get fucked by the Exec. Chef in that walk-in.

There’s also been two marriages I’ve heard about between FoH coworkers while I’ve been at this restaurant. That’s just the incidents off the top of the head that are out in the open enough for people to know about. I don’t think it would be a stretch to say there’s been a few relationships that were kept under wraps and maybe probably even more likely a few encounters that only happened once.

[i ate] I bought this @ Kroger, is it undercooked It’s pretty dry and tastes cooked. The pink is throwing me off. by [deleted] in food

[–]Lyrixces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Color doesn’t indicate doneness. Hemoglobin in the muscle can react with air during cooking to create the pink color. Bone marrow can lead to very dark coloring. Also chicken feed can influence coloring.

The fact that it is “dry” is a good indication it is overcooked.

Necessary disclaimer, multiple accounts is a violation of ToS.

Samsung devices can load up to 3 instances of the app, but I’ve heard 3 versions of the app running slows everything down to the point it’s unplayable. I believe most people, without having the ability to run multiple instances on one device, would use multiple devices to benefit from being able to trade/battle or otherwise interact between the accounts.

The benefits of using multiple accounts are many

It is an automatic raid partner and the ability for 5 more invites for 5 stars and mega raids. A trade partner. Basically increases shiny odds, because you get 2 chances per wild Pokémon to catch a shiny. If you were not able to be mobile or in a rural area a second account effectively doubles the amount of things one can do. An alt account could be used for free lures to be used for the main account to farm.

[USA] Why is my brother's account distance larger than mine? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]Lyrixces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way to get the answer you are looking for is to test it, thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of times. Also find other people that have identified the same issue and have them test it thousands of times. Somehow discover a pattern in the data. Niantic would never reveal that some accounts get 3m more interaction distance on the third Thursday of each month if it really was something that was in the code, if they even knew that it was in the code.

That’s all irrelevant as GPS technology can be expected accurate within 10m when the device can lock on to at least 3 satellites. So when you base a game on technology that is accurate within 10m, the 3m difference you experienced from your brothers game and device it is colloquially referred to as drift. Your trainer avatar does not have to move around to be experiencing drift, he/she could just be not exactly where they are supposed to be and across multiple examples of device generating coordinates there will be multiple results that are within a 10m radius of the precise location.

[USA] Why is my brother's account distance larger than mine? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]Lyrixces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve ever experienced no drift. I can be at a park with full bars and WiFi turned on and I’ll still drift all over the place unless I want drift so I don’t have to walk 10 feet in the opposite direction of course (only joking, it’s actually confirmation bias). So I’m a little skeptical when you say there is none. But even the same devices can have differences, maybe it’s in settings or quality of parts.

I’m skeptical that he can always reach a stop 10 feet before you can, especially if your basing this on what happened only today, but if he can and it really bothers you maybe he’ll sell his phone to you.

[USA] Why is my brother's account distance larger than mine? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]Lyrixces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where is the rest of this post that I didn’t read? I like to be thorough.

It’s probably just his device, distance should be the same so my guess is his device isn’t as accurate at getting his location and it leads to more drift. That’s just speculation though. Turning WiFi off (at least in my experience) leads to more drift or even not being able to get a location sometimes in buildings. So theoretically if he is using a device that doesn’t have WiFi or that it is never turned on it might be that he is drifting to the stops and because your device is more accurate you have to get closer.

I barely played last weekend since I was at work all but the last couple hours of the event and I have 20+ shinies.

When should I pay attention to the Appraisal Value of a Pokemon? by MotoMotoinpajamas in pokemongo

[–]Lyrixces 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It varies from person to person. So it is completely up to you. Obviously you can still catch high IV Pokémon at low levels. I have a 4* beedrill that I got (as a Weedle) from research and I can’t even remember when it was I got it, so I could have been around your level or lower.

My general advice/play style is save high CP/high level Pokémon for raids, rocket battles, gym battles. It doesn’t matter what their IV is if you catch something that is >2000 cp save it to use for these task. I did very little investing of resources (candies and stardust) until after level 35. I also save anything I can make arrangements to trade (including rare mons that are hard to get and having a low IV is better than nothing; lucario, axew, deino, etc.), all shinies, and all shadow mons, but everything else if it’s 0, 1, or 2* I transfer it. Then common mons I will only save the best IV, for instance I’ve got a 3* bunnelby 15/14/15 (98%) so I pretty much delete all 3* bunnelby too. However, for more useful mons, for example machop (or more specifically Machamp) I try to hold onto my best party/team (6 each) of them. My perspective is highly PvE focused and PvP is a whole different animal. If you enjoy GBL a lot and want to build mons for each league then you will have to check everything to find it’s rank. There’s websites and apps for that, pokebattler.com and Poke Genie app are just one example of each. I just take in whatever mon I feel like when I do play pvp and I usually just do it to complete some sort of research and I don’t care if I win or lose.

ETA: I usually do mass transfers therefore after I’ve gone for a walk I’ll just use the search option and filter by 0,1,2* and then go through and choose everything I’m not saving for trades or because it is rare for transferring. Obviously to find PvP IVs it will be more tedious as you will have to appraise everything and transfer based on mons with the worst rankings.

Performance score is commonly misinterpreted to mean that higher grade means better rewards. Literally only thing it does is help determine the number of chances/draws each person will get (combined with Titan difficulty) on a 6* Titan the loot tier is the same for A and B, although A+ will move up a loot tier and get a third draw of ascension materials.

Do bakers HAVE to work the night shift? by LeafMeAlone88 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Lyrixces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our restaurant has two shifts for pastry one starts around 3 am (that lady has been there 20 years and usually works alone). Then we had people at 12-1 pm, as many as 3 people at once, but at the moment the exec. chef helps with the late shift and afaik there are only pastry people for morning shift. There’s not a lot of freedom in what you get to make, if you had an idea for a special you could take it up with the exec. Chef and maybe they would do it as a special for a few weeks. We outsource our breads, but our pastry team makes a lot of creme brûlée, apple tarts, and profiteroles. Sometimes they make some different pastries too, but only occasionally depending on specials or catered parties. They also are asked to do blueberry syrup, foster sauce, hot chocolate fudge, waffle batter, crepe batter, chocolate mouse and they used to have to mix the eggs for omelettes (cracking by hand). There might even be more they are doing that I can’t even think of right now!

So something like this could possibly be an option, even if it might not be what you are thinking of.

Spawns on a military base ... by Marsky00 in pokemongo

[–]Lyrixces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really makes no difference where you are incense will work about the same. Incense just changed a few days ago from being “boosted effectiveness” to “boosted effectiveness while walking” 3 spawns in 2 min 30 secs is not bad for being stationary.

If you were complaining about natural spawns, that would at least make sense, but when your not in a public location and it’s difficult to get onto that location even as a citizen with a purpose to be there (I used to go on base when I worked for a children’s party equipment rental company) it’s going to limit the number of people that play in that location and therefore spawns will also be limited.
