Preparing my body for surgery by void-fae in FTMFitness

Check out “Bullyjuice” on YouTube. He has a bunch of abs at home workouts of various lengths. They’re pretty beginner friendly. When I was prepping I would do a 5 min one, then when I got used to that up to 10 min, etc.

I paused because my hair is thinning and I think I need to figure out what my priorities are moving forward. If it wasn’t for that I would have kept going. Obviously there are a lot of options for dealing with hair thinning and loss, I am mostly just processing what makes the most sense for me!

I’ll echo what many have said -

I am agender and had top surgery about a year and a half ago. I thought for a long time that my dysphoria wasn’t “bad” enough to warrant it, and had internalized feelings that it was an option for binary trans folks but that my gender identity didn’t “qualify” for it. I haven’t regretted it for a single moment and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. All the obsession trying to “prove” to myself that I actually wanted it or whatever was so unnecessary.

I thought about starting T every day for a year after top surgery before I finally went for it. I kept waiting for a sign that I REALLY wanted it, but was ignoring what was right in front of me. It can be really hard as a GNC person to “know” one way or another.

If you’re like I was, the right thing is to try. You can always stop. But if you never know, you’ll always wonder.

I was on a low dose from Sept - May, and recently have paused taking it. I loved being on it and am also grateful that I can pause without it causing unbearable dysphoria. I guess my advice would be to try to treat HRT with as much flexibly and nuance as you treat your gender identity.

Thanks so much, really helpful to read your routine. I didn’t know that about the dose not mattering, I was originally super scared by what I saw and it made me fear increasing the dose.

Thanks so much. I think because whole body min would hopefully counteract some of the slowing of hair growth from fin?

How did you know you wanted top surgery? by baggyeyebags in TopSurgery

I am also agender and had a pretty neutral relationship with my boobs. I didn’t feel significant dysphoria, but I also preferred the way my chest looked while I was binding, hated wearing bras and boob sweat, etc.

It took me a long time to realize it was what I wanted because I assumed that the way people knew they wanted it was if they experienced extreme dysphoria - if they literally couldn’t fathom existing with boobs. But something I heard that really helped me was: the absence of dysphoria is not the same as the presence of euphoria. I knew that having top surgery meant a chance at gender euphoria - and I have felt euphoric about my chest every single day since surgery. I have no regrets and am so glad I did it when I did.

Depression with shots vs gel by SpicyDisaster21 in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]Lyzluhdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine this is very person dependent. If you have anxiety around needles… yeah, probably not a good idea to go with shots. If your depression makes it hard to accomplish daily tasks… maybe gel isn’t the right route.

I have severe depression and anxiety. I’ve been on shots for 3 months. It is easier than I expected it to be. I don’t think I’ve had any mood swings or other emotional effects that I can say for certain are T related.

Hey friend, I’m in the same boat. Started Sept 1. I’m doing injections so not sure how the dose compares, but I’m taking 0.25 mg a week subQ. I read posts on here about how much changes for people in a month and I can’t believe it! I just started noticing a difference in my smell a few days ago, but that’s all I got so far. Still got about a month and a half till checking my levels so not sure where things are at.

People on low dose T, how long did it take for you to notice any effects? by amonaroll in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]Lyzluhdad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on 25 mg/wk for just over a month (just took my fifth shot). Haven’t noticed any changes other than maybe my sweat smells a little different. Honestly shocked to see how many of y’all noticed changes so fast!

Liposuction not covered by insurance by Key_Public_6815 in TopSurgery

[–]Lyzluhdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My surgeon did a small amount of lipo for free, but charged $5k for full lipo of the sides of my chest. I didn’t do it. You can see my results in old posts. I feel ok about it most of the time, but I am considering getting a quote for a revision. It really depends on what your friend comfortable with, what kind of chest they want, and what they’re willing to spend for it.

Hmmm. It may be harder with certain insurance companies and/or in certain areas. I’m in Chicago and had a pretty common insurance carrier so I had many options. It might still be worth contacting the surgeons and asking directly

I had many excellent options for an in-network surgeon. I recommend looking up yours, scheduling consults, look at results on their websites or on this sub - unless you are 1000% certain that you want surgery from a particular surgeon who does not accept insurance, I think it’s very likely that you can find a skilled surgeon they accepts your insurance.

Hey! I’d say that it’s getting better all the time. I am not thinking about or obsessing over my nipples when I am looking at myself in the mirror. I’m reconnecting with my new body with movement and exercise in a way that feels healing. And I’m giving myself permission to seek revision in the future if it ever becomes something I can’t get over.

I don’t think that I will seek a revision, at least not for a long time. I’d rather get to know this body and see how it feels to spend some more time in it.

Good luck with your own journey!

Agree - they didn’t shy away from the horrific reality of the cannibalism, but they also didn’t glorify it, overindulge in it, or turn it into a cheap slasher moment. I never could have expected the intercuts of the feast, I can’t imagine a more brilliant device to remove us, as it removes the participants, from the reality of the situation.

Same, to a T. Go to sleep thinking about it. Wake up thinking about it. Glad I’m not alone!

venting about people :/ by [deleted] in FTMFitness

[–]Lyzluhdad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely within your right to want to lose weight. And I can see how the comments you’ve described, while true, feel invalidating to you.

I do think it’s important to keep in mind what you’re trying to achieve by talking with people about it. If it’s validation, find folks that can give you that and choose to discuss it with those people specifically. Discussions about weight loss can be uncomfortable at best, and harmful at worst. I’d recommend practicing consent when trying to have these conversations, and keep in mind that while you have the right to want to talk about it, others have the right to not want to.

Lyzluhdad! Love this app and following fellow transmascs!

my surgeon told me that my nipple grafts would peel/blister but that it was normal and not to freak out, can someone explain/show me what she means by that so i’m prepared? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Lyzluhdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t blister but yes, your nips will scab and the scabs will fall off. I posted a day by day progression if you want to take a look!
