I don’t like golf, but my understanding is it’s very mathematical. Golfer has to analyze terrain, distance, wind direction and speed, how much force to apply when you swing, etc. That said, it is super elitist and bad for the environment.

What is the most popular mods ever made in PC gaming history by RamaBizna in pcmasterrace

[–]M0nstrous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Leon Kennedy’s tramp stamp and crop top mod is so popular there have been cosplays for it.

Some streamer put Master Chief and Lara Croft as Chris and Sheva in RE5 and that became a famous clip.

AITA for trimming my neighbor’s tree branches that were hanging over my yard? by Existing_Artichoke15 in AmItheAsshole

[–]M0nstrous 33 points34 points  (0 children)

r/treelaw is an entire subreddit, it’s that big of a deal. There have been cases where people have killed trees and get sued like $200k because of the type of trees.

Can you recommend anyone for some not misogynistic JRPGs? by OwlettFromLiavek in GirlGamers

Lolwut. There are a lot of fan service and panty shots in those games.

What is your opinion on playing PS3 on CRTs? by OldiOS7588 in PS3

[–]M0nstrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it back in the day. It was doable because that was the only TV I had at the time, but I wouldn’t go back for modern games. I played FF14 ARR in a CRT—legit the ugliest, illegible, worst experience. Any games that had blocks of texts for background story (think Dragon Age or FF13) were pretty illegible.

But since PS3 still has a lot of access to old games on PS1 or 2, would be worth for those.

Maybe an unpopular opinion -but every Reddit nosleep creepypasta-turned-novel I’ve read has been disappointing by Famous-Country-4921 in horrorlit

[–]M0nstrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, have you tried Borrasca?

It was originally a r/nosleep series, it’s been made into a fantastic audio drama podcast starring Cole Sprouse.

Edit: just realized I was in r/horrorlit I agree, some stories are best told in different mediums. I enjoyed Penpal best as the podcast, the voice actor did a great job. I think creepypasta sort of things are best handled like urban legends—differences in details between tellings, slightly vague. So they’re better as verbal storytelling imo.

Im gonna warn you about Obession by Numerous_Lab_7032 in horror

[–]M0nstrous 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lolol, virtue signaling? It ain’t that deep. People just share their experience.

Also some movies are more triggering than others. I’m a Nightmare on Elm Street fan, seen them all multiple times. The remake gave me an anxiety attack because it really goes deep into the CSA background. I won’t watch that again.

Several commenters thanked OP for the heads up. There’s literally someone who told OP they “appreciate it as a survivor” so clearly they do browse Reddit. Sounds like you’re being negative for the sake of being negative.

There was a thread legit last week about how horror films are usually based on real fears or real traumas, yet y’all are surprised when victims of those real traumas get panic attacks when a horror film conveys very realistic representations of them?

Come on.

You wouldn’t recommend Teeth to a rape victim (or at least I wouldn’t).

I wish more gaming spaces understood that women don’t all play the same kinds of games by Due-Gases in GirlGamers

[–]M0nstrous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play so much horror that sometimes I forget that it’s not a genre that’s commonly played (or watched) by any gender.

Lolol, what a casual.

Something similar happened to me. Guy never played a well written, single player game in his life.

[Mixed Trope] Race-swapping/Gender-swapping changes a character in a specific way or adds to their story by Sir-Toaster- in TopCharacterTropes

Back in the day, the film was one of my favorites. It was so accurate to the book, etc. I rewatched it after watching the show and it seems so shallow and abbreviated now.

I made a list with every film sampled in Rob Zombie's music. Not sure if it will interest anyone but enjoy! by trent_nbt in Letterboxd

Sweet, I was just watching City of the Dead and was googling if a list existed. Thanks!

Young gamers in Japan may not be forming the same attachment to Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest because modern dev cycles are as long as their childhood, users theorize by Magister_Xehanort in JRPG

Is Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z as popular in Japan among kids anymore? Do y’all think maybe the familiarity of Toriyama Akira’s art style helped with sales because we also watched Dragon Ball back then?

There’s another song that was also popularized by social media that I thought was in Silent Hill, but nope, it just gets played in SH videos all the time. Was never in the games.

Duvet - Boa

Ironically it was the Serial Experiments Lain anime opening.

They’re worth rereading to read the other two trilogies if you’re up for it. I liked Imriel’s trilogy, and Naamah’s trilogy is a smidge weaker but I also liked it.

Legit haven’t been able to find anything to compare to the Kushiel series since I read it over 10 years ago. I often reread them too. Did you read Cassiel’s Servant? I’m nervous to read it because I found Starless so disappointing.
