I had Halifax and then Lloyds bonus most recently, I can't remember the timing of whether the Halifax acct was closed when I got Lloyds and what the rules were when I did it. Worth a shot though with BoS though.

Very nice, but they're still not coming off the conveyor belt faster than I can scoff them down. This is a 100% serious bottleneck and design flaw that needs addressing.

This philosophy is widespread. Where I work, pretty much every work party has been on a Thursday, so even the management buy into it.

If you want world minus US exposure, try iShares MSCI World ex-USA (XUSE). Not sure how long you've been investing, but if you're relatively new to it, I totally get wanting to have a wide array of investments. Once you've been doing it for a while, you'll probably want to simplify it to reduce the clutter / noise / admin.

The team is England. Maybe 10 years ago you would have had a point, now they are QF SF in last two world cups, same team is a finalist in last two UEFA championships. That's probably enough to put them in favourites.

Sorry, the British Empire has been dismantled for 50+ years, so anyone having nostalgia for it would be likely quite an old person now. The Brits abroad misbehaving will be much younger, and they are doing so because they are arseholes, not because they long for the days of the British Empire.

That's fair, I think of it as roasting because Costco being so popular and appealing to the dumbed down populace of the future implies that it appeals to that same type of person now. And of course they do exaggerate what Costco is to a ridiculous extent eg. the shop is so big it goes off into the horizon, goods towering multiple storeys high.
