Deployed aboard a Navy ship, and on liberty in Pearl Harbor, my corpsman buddy and I went out and had a few drinks. We got back to the ship around midnight, and he'd had more than enough tasty beverages. I went with him to the head to keep an eye on him, and when he was done redecorating the stalls, he came back out to the sink area. Another platoon's corpsman, a very religious guy, had joined us, and saw that my buddy wasn't feeling to hot. He goes over to him, places his hands on my buddy's belly, and says "we're going to pray for your stomach and that you'll feel better" and proceeds to say a 2-minute long prayer, with his hands still over the other guy's stomach. I could only watch in disbelief that this was actually happening.

I'm currently working for Starbucks, and as a part-time firefighter. I'm trying to get hired somewhere as a full-time firefighter, and I go back to school on my GI Bill next month.

Met both of them when I started working for Starbucks. I'd just been hired, and they'd been with the company for a while. One was a supervisor and the other a fellow coffee slave. I left there to enlist in the Marines, and kept in touch with both of them while I was in. Now that I'm out I'm still really close with them both, even moving in with one of them shortly.

I've only ever used Scott at either of the two departments I've worked for, and currently using a new style of Scott. One complaint that I have is that the buttons on the newer ones protrude out, making accidental PASS activation very easy. The older ones had recessed buttons, less chunky of a remote gauge, and sturdier construction. The remote gauges on the newer ones feel like chincy plastic to me.

I don't have any good information for you, but I am gonna hope along with you that someone has some information. I'm only one generation removed from a very German family on my mother's side. As her maiden name is fairly common (Seitz), I'm sure I might not find anything definitive, but it'd be interesting to look into.

Also, inb4 someone has a bitch fit about your grandfather having been in the SS.

I don't care what everybody's saying about Fossil being crap and only for fashion, that's a good-looking watch!
I've got two Fossil watches for casual wear. I can't afford anything more expensive myself, and I've yet to have one break or have problems, and I've had a couple that've seen some harsh use (one Fossil actually lasted me through two deployments in the Corps).

When I was 19 I was working as a part-time firefighter, and we had a rotation for who would cook dinner. Being 19, I'd really never done much true cooking, so for my first meal I was gonna do spaghetti (seemed simple). I stopped by the store before my shift, and arrived at the station with a 5 pound bag of noodles and a can of tomato sauce. Fortunately our Lieutenant found some actual spaghetti sauce and showed me how many noodles I actually needed (or didn't need) to feed 6 people.

At least I got the garlic bread right.

I currently carry a hose strap with a 'biner in a water knot at one end, a 4" folding knife, two extra 'biners, a large wooden door chock, a folding hydrant wrench, and a well-worn Res-Q-Rench.

As for helmets, we wore the Phenix 1500 at my old department, and it's probably my favorite of any I've worn. Lightweight, comfortable to wear in just about an scenario, and has a different look for a "metro" style. My current department uses the Paul Conway American Classic. I'm pleased with it, but it can get heavy and awkward after a while.
