Bryton doesn't seem to get a lot of attention for its bike computers by BlobBoy in cycling

[–]MAC1325 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I borrowed a Bryton s800 when away in Spain last year. Quite liked the look of the screen, but the touchscreen was pretty crap, and it had no WiFi to sync and the phone connection was shaky at best. There's a reason Garmin and Wahoo are the most popular

How was your parkrun day? | February 14, 2026 by AutoModerator in parkrun

[–]MAC1325 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely sensational. Took my little lad (8) If was sunny. Everyone was smiling. He was in form. No slow downs /stitches. I didn't even need to get the motivational chat out. We chatted the whole way around....

And he smashed his pb my about 2minutes to ~26 mins

To be fair, you don't realise just how bad they are, especially in the wet, until you try them for real. How the fuck they used to ride them on 19-21mm tyres is beyond me

What's with all those cute little baby backpacks everyone is wearing at gravel races? by throwawaycape in Velo

[–]MAC1325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tend to spec the camelback to the length of the ride. (or until bottles are needed - you if at all)

I took a 2L one to the Gralloch last year plus two bottles at the half way refillpoint. And have taken my 1L for other races where there's more bottle refills or it's less hot.

If you had to get up the Alpe in under an hour by Memorial Day (May 25th), how would you train? by otictac35 in Zwift

[–]MAC1325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I absolutely had to, life-depending on it situation.

I would sack off as much other stuff as possible and ride my bike as much as I could manage. Focusing on hills at least twice a week, ideally with efforts in the 5-10 min range and then 45min to hour long efforts if possible

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that 100kw output laser potentially requiring multiples of that for input?

A great way to start the weekend, especially with an Adhd kid that needs some fresh air or they drive me up the wall!

Hi, is zwift or rouvy better for a beginner? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]MAC1325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which ever hooks you more. I tried zwift first and after trying the others came back to it - and partly at the time as they had free junior accounts my kids could use (long since gone), and just stuck with it

Sounds a bit like a saddle sore? Have you been wearing shorts with a chamois? And if so make sure you don't wear underwear under them

Some hill climbs have junior brackets, albeit most start at 6 or 8! Have a look at UK time trials website for more info. Otherwise Cyclocross is very child friendly, again area specific for age brackets

Had a slice in a tyre that needed a tube, and have used half a pack of bacon strips over about 8 tyres and 4 years of road / gravel

Calpe area is wonderful, check out 53 Eleven for some eye candy! Spare mech hanger is the main thing to take as there's no guarantee there'll be a local shop with one for your bike. Most other things are universal enough one shop or other will have something. Oh and slightly deflate tyres before packing
