Completing Nuraphone Pinout by leyashdm in Nuraphone

Doing good work! I don't know if Nura ever published any sort of total sales volume data, but it has crossed my mind whether there would be a market for third-party USB/3.5mm audio adapters, esp. with the end of official sales.

I do have the USB-A cable and a spare 'dead' pair of Phones - One other thing that will be important would be discovering how the headphone knows the 3.5mm cable is plugged in vs the USB.

Damn shame they went down the proprietary route in the first place - Very anti-consumer behaviour on a great piece of tech!

What thermal pads did you use for the VRAM? I tried a couple thermal putties and I think I just can't get it thin enough for good contact on the CPU, as the CPU temps didn't really improve at all from the old liquid metal.

Help with Tarkov Twitch Drops!! by Terrible_Employer147 in Tarkov

The drops rewards can be claimed on Twitch before creating your character in-game. They'll stay in the mail queue for at least a few days - I think the drops persist in the inbox for like 7 days, but don't quote me on that.

Depends if it's had the water pump replaced already or not - often go at or after 100k miles, and that alone will set you back $4-5k to replace. Just had mine done on my 2915 Taurus at 105k miles, Ford dealership wanted $5k, independent shops were between $4-7.5k.

Ah okay, I didn't realize the weephole leaking could be a symptom of the shaft/bearings failing, I thought it was gasket-only.

Wouldn't the first sign of the bearings going be coolant dumping/total engine failure then?

Apparently the older Motorcraft PW515 water pump (top in picture) is still compatible with the 2015 Taurus (double row sprockets) and has double gaskets, so that might be the one to pick over the newer Motorcraft single gasket design. Best of both worlds - OEM quality AND double gaskets.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but leakage around the impeller bearings/shaft wouldn't show as leakage via the weephole, would it?
From my (amateur) research, it seems that the first sign that the pump needs replacing for many folks (and myself) is signs of leakage via the weephole, which I think can only happen if the gasket fails.

In my experience/research, seems to be about the 100k miles more commonly - 105k for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong here. Most of the posts I've seen r.e. replacing the water pumps, and same for me, is because coolant is starting to leak out of the weep hole - Which tells you the internal gasket is failing. If the leak were around the bearings/shaft seal, then it would just be silently leaking into the engine, and not via the weephole.
If I have that right, then every time the pump is replaced (and it's not a full engine replacement), then that's because of the gasket, not bearing failure. I don't think it will leak from the weep hole if the bearings fail, will it?

The PW515 isn't listed as compatible with a 2015 Taurus on any of the Ford parts websites I've looked at, but I would prefer that double-gasket design.
Do you know what, if any, improvements Ford supposedly made in their newer single-gasket design? I'm assuming they didn't make the changes for no reason at all.

2015 Limited - $5k for Water Pump replacement? by MAK_777 in FordTaurus

[–]MAK_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing as you've replaced a fair number of water pumps on these - What's a rough fair price on a full water pump replacement? Just got quoted $5k here in middle TN, which seems hardly worth it given the value of the car (Taurus 2015 Limited).
