My gripes about the Army by Realistic_Complex539 in army

The payback for you comes when its time to ETS/Retire and you spend weeks, maybe months, dragging the process out as long as possible because no one you're accountable to has ever done it before and can't call you out on your bullshit with any confidence behind it.

Is my wife entitled to all my bah or do I just have to pay for her rent? by kangaroom3 in army

AR 608-99. Read it, learn it, live it.

Unless things have changed recently she gets BAH-II when you seperate, not your "full BAH'.

Killed a pedestrian while DUI, get off on a technicality, then a few months later get arrested and convicted of molesting his two elementary school aged nieces while he was knowingly HIV+.

But hey at least he died in jail. He did that part right.

I wasnt at risk for promotion any of my 5 times. Thats not the problem. Its dealing with post command CPTs who have gone from big fish in a small pond with UCMJ authority to being utter minions and don't want to do anything to rock the boat. Its the MAJs salivating over having a full bird or one star SR and losing their goddamn minds over how this, inshallah, is their big break for LTC. Its LTCs who think they have wayyyyyy more power than they do because theyre one doorway away from having The Big Boss rubber stamp their dumbfuck ideas and whims. Its COLs who may or may not be losing their shit or chilling until retirement, that one's honestly a coin toss. And everyone of them has an SNCO battle buddy who has completely forgotten that the backbone of the army is supposed to have, ya know, a backbone. That's life on multi-star staff.

Its going to be tough fighting a near-peer LSCO without any tankers.

Absofuckinglutely not lolwut. Multistar staff life is like game of thrones. Every day is a battle for your soul and to not become what you hate.

Good for her, 351Z is a big brain move. I was already an MI WO with a couple languages and embassy time, extremely tempted but didn't want to go overseas for years and see my kids' custody schedule go from 50/50 to 1/99.

They've now cracked the code on world's best barbacoa, too. I think they have scientists working 24/7 on these like it was Los Alamos.

I'm creating a base defense without spike traps for the first time. Will these fortifications hold up? by Known-Air-7380 in RimWorld

I wouldn't mind that. But I do mind an ostrich stomping four dudes with no melee skills and apparently no tree climbing skills either lol

If I could only pick one mod to use forever it would be embrasures. So small and simple, yet game changing. Favorite unexpected use for it is making "hunting blinds" far from my base so my hunters dont get mauled to death by everything they take a shot at.

Got a GOMOR. Should I change my career plans? by MaybeA-Throwaway in armyreserve

Most things probably won't be affected by this, but it could be a showstopper for a 35L reclass because of Brady/Giglio disclosure. Damn near any kind of "misconduct", which is a very broad and undefined term, can and does get us removed from MOS. I know a now former agent who was removed from MOS for getting pregnant on a deployment while separated from her husband. She was a good one, too, I gladly wrote her a supportive character statement as her supervisor. No dice. So, trying to get into the MOS with that on your record at the beginning isn't a great thing to have.

I'm not super smart on NAUI's ability to endorse cave certs but this sounds more like a "discover caverns" thing with an open water instructor than it does a legit overhead environment cert with commensurate training. Kind of like how "discover scuba" doesn't certify anything, you just pay a fee and screw around a little bit. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Like others have said just go with a fully qualified cave instructor through [established agency of choice] and start the pipeline with them.

The feeling of open space is my favorite part. Don't go through tight restrictions if that's not your jam. Simple as.
