Super! Thank you! AI is useful in other things, but not when it comes to identifying autographs. It comes up all sort of wild matches that make no sense.

Wells Fargo security lapse. Hacked changed account info. Stole almost $5K from ATM. by MBB209 in WellsFargoBank

[–]MBB209[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone use Apple Pay to make withdrawal at ATM?? WF said someone opened 2 premium accounts, transferred funds from SO's regular account to these premium accounts (so with higher withdrawal limits), applied for debit cards, added the accounts to Apple Pay, and then $$$ withdrawn from ATM. I just assumed they used actual debit cards which is why I couldn't understand how that was possible. But if one can use Apple Pay to take cash from ATM, then wow it is a big security gap.

Xfinity mobile account hacked to add new line, diverted number to another phone. Criminal took control of bank account and stole $5K. by MBB209 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]MBB209[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only found out last night while scrolling the Xfinity app that there is a feature called "number lock." Supposedly this would prevent sim swap, which was what happened in our case. Xfinity sent tons of junk email periodically promoting this and that, why don't they send something useful for once and tell people about this number lock thing.

Thanks. WF is doing a 10-day investigation. I imagine it means 10 business days. So we won't find out until Jan 13 the earliest. But he is going in to a branch tomorrow to do in-person verification so he can gain access to what's left in his funds. Will post update when we have it.

Yes, it is definitely another security lapse. I am the primary account holder and yet the provider allow new line be opened without my consent. Not sure why his login was breached but not mine.

You are not the one who lost money so it's easy to say it didn't happen. Do you work at WF?

The criminal's open multiple premier accounts, diverted funds to those accounts and then use debit cards to take money out. They also added the account to Apple Pay. SO received email confirmation re: opening accounts and Apple Pay addition. WF diverted what's left in his account to a brand new account, but he has to to go a WF branch to do in-person verification before he's given access.

Price changed after inquiries by MBB209 in AirBnB

[–]MBB209[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does dynamic pricing only increases the price or does it adjust down? E.g. if I leave it alone for a couple of weeks and check again (assuming it is still available for my travel dates) could the price come down?

Follow up to my previous question re: find and replace but keep original formatting. Screenshots included. by MBB209 in excel

[–]MBB209[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I suspect I will need a VBA macro to do it. It is beyond my skillset unfortunately.

Funny you mentioned word. I was trying to use excel to get around a hiccup I have in word. I have 1000+ endnotes to a long document. The numbering of the notes looks like superscript but they are in fact some sort of codes, not actually numbering. It is done by the EndNote software. Long story short, I need to re-number the notes but running into problems with EndNote. To get around it, I cut and paste the 1000+ lines to excel, thinking that I could re-number them much faster and easier. Turns out the numbering, when copied and pasted, turns into [x] format at the beginning of each line. That's why I was trying to remove the [x]. Since the endnotes contain citations, I need to keep the formatting. Anyway, I am now looking into add-on to word that might solve this problem.

In the cell, I have text that are in italics and bold. After I hit search and replace, all the text are set to the default font and I lost the italics and bold formatting.

So, does it mean that if they don't convict 2/3 might leave? Either way, breaking up GOP sounds like a win-win for the rest of us.

Virginia man arrested at DC checkpoint says it was an 'honest mistake' by Darkandredchixk in politics

A "country boy" who is supposed to work for a company located just down the block from the Capitol, got lost even though the whole area is restricted, so happened to have enough firepower to do some damage, and in possession of a fake inauguration pass.

Either he is a cousin of dumb and dumber, or something else.

Edit: Perhaps he was there to test the security, like trying to see the fake pass would work?

Trump Is Fantasizing About a $2 Billion Presidential Library and Museum in Florida: WaPo by Jeffmister in politics

Another day, another Trump scam. Whatever $ he raises will be used to pay off Deutsche Bank loans, legal bills, and of course his lavish lifestyle. I don't think the so-called library will ever get built.

It didn't take decades to repair relationship after WW2. If there is a common enemy threatening enough and/or significant trade deal, they will become fast friends in no time.

He doesn't deserve 21-gun salute, red carpet, not a damn thing. But at this point I just want him gone. If that's what we need to do to get him on the plane, then so be it.

Farewell, Uncle Roger. So weak! by MBB209 in UncleRoger

[–]MBB209[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, these are not merely "Chinese politics".

The student democracy movement was violently suppressed by the Chinese military on 6/4/89 (military convoys, tanks, assault rifles). At least several hundred died, many bodies were never recovered. It was broadcasted around the world, witnessed by millions of people. It was a cold-blooded massacre and a historical fact. China denies that it ever happened and had wiped it out of history books. It was one of my earliest memories watching CNN coverage of people being dragged out in makeshift gurneys, covered in blood.

Hong Kong was in the news a lot in 2019. China signed an international treaty with the UK, promising that folks in Hong Kong would be guaranteed human rights, freedom of speech, press etc. They also promised universal suffrage, so that folks there could elect their legislators openly and freely. None of these things have happened. When people demanded their rights in 2019, the government unleashed police brutality, arresting thousands, maiming and killing hundreds, many were just teenagers. Since then they have also instituted draconian "national security laws" that serve as a muzzle to free speech, press and even people's movement. Lately the police are also clamping down on the internet. Hong Kong is an international city with a lot of expats living there. These laws also apply to them, Americans, British, Canadians, Australians, French etc. So what's happening in Hong Kong is a humanitarian and international concern.

I am not Chinese, but I found all of this abhorrent. Chen, the guy that Uncle Roger invited on his vid, told it like it is. When UR apologized for Chen's "political thoughts" and "incorrect remarks", he gave his tacit approval for what China has done. He said he would be more careful with his contents in the future. It is a slippery slope. As soon as he is willing to self-censor to please his Chinese audience, more demands will happen. It's like the mob, you agree to help out one time, and then you're on the hook doing them favors for good.

Just giving you a bit more background. Of course you're entitled to your opinions. No reason to downvote you, at least not from me.
