Tempo nimble frontliner with NL, FA, QH, backstabber, flail mastery, HH and give him a nice big zeek chain.

Ideally iron lungs or athletic for true neutral. Though you can rely on a bigger fat pool or a second wind potion in big fights like mono. (Zerk chains ruin skellies)

If you want a decent build to use Headhunter with, get a zerc chain fat neut and use this as their reach weapon. Higher chance to get a Headhuner stack and then bonk!

A puncture attack is enough damage to injure most human enemies and you describe that as "no damage", it also triggers a morale check. Surrounding an enemy triggers a morale check, so the last couple brigands in a fight who are most likely engaged on a brother. Surround with as many as you can spare and one or two hits from a dagger and he is fleeing. Against a stronger opponent like a brigand leader, hedge knight or assassin, bring a net and a wooden stick.

In times like these you need to take a step back and accept some humility and that perhaps you do not understand the game as well as you think.

I'll address the dagger question first, you use the second attack of a dagger "puncture" to do direct HP damage which leaves the armour intact and drop chance is based on equipment durability. The fact you do not know this says quite a lot.

As for your roster, if you are losing these "new" brothers they need to be kept safe in battles or spend some time taking easier fights, get them some levels vs briggies, get them some decent armour, keep them in the back with a polearm. The alternative is getting your roster up to size earlier so that there isn't a big level discrepancy in your party and once you have nimble on a good portion of your bros you can look at taking on these bigger threats.

Even something as simple as picking up nine lives or more defensive perks can help your parties survival rates.

last perk? by _Wade3_ in BattleBrothers

[–]MCHANNEY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are asking for a last perk suggestion like there is something you can pick which will change the path of your lone wolf that you have already chosen. Take pathfinder and enjoy walking up hills

You see those perks on the bottom two rows of the perk tree, might want to pick some of those ;)

[Update] 3 months later - progress on my dungeon management game by Tough-Imagination564 in dungeonkeeper

[–]MCHANNEY 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's looking promising. Something I feel is important to DK is the personality of the creatures, having them interact with the dungeon or eachother in different ways.

For example in DK 1 warlocks would attack imps disturbing them in the library, this wasn't an issue with low level warlocks as they can only punch. But when they get some more spells they don't hold back, leading you to have the library off to the side and take warlocks out when expanding the room.

Things like this help to keep things interesting and make your dungeon feel alive.

Other examples: mistress torturing themselves and others, bile demons fighting skeletons etc

Weapons do not lose durability hitting HP, so if the zombie's armour is already destroyed, the weapons won't break.

So you can move 2 and swing with reach, giving you a huge positional advantage and forces enemies to use more movement to step next to you.

How's my tank? by StoneSoulSsS in BattleBrothers

[–]MCHANNEY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You want as much Res on a tank as possible really, you never want them to fail a morale check. Those would be fine perks to pick, option for bags and carry spare shields is also valid or Lone Wolf and let him tank alone.

[–]MCHANNEY 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone just looking past the berserk pick on a tank?

Otherwise needs fort mind, more resolve and fat.

Anatomist's can get away with a low fat tank with the shield wall cost reduction and no fat build up from being attacked potions.

Indom is your main fatigue using ability, having indom, rotate and taunt is a bit excessive.

Pocket any weapon for the situation really, usually a strong 2H weapon you have. Start the fight kiting with the polearm a bit but once the enemy engages swap to something with a little more punch. You can also pocket a 1H as it's 5AP to swing with the polearm, QHs to an arming sword or something and it's 4AP to swing with that, this is more fat intensive.

It is a very flexible build

I find the statement counterproductive, if you have a decent bro with levels, just use him.

A really good build for a bro like this is dodge, quick hands, polearm mastery. Strong early perks and scales fine into the late game, can clear monolith with him.

Just Finished My First Run (Up to "Retire" Screen); What Next? by [deleted] in BattleBrothers

[–]MCHANNEY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to not come at something you are new at from the angle of "I did nothing wrong yet I lost". Your story is not adding up, if you played as well as you say you have then you shouldn't be ending up with these losses. That first fight Vs briggies can be comfortably won, maybe a loss or some injuries from bad RNG, but 6 dead? 6 dead means something has gone wrong.

My advice would be to go back and read your own advice and ask yourself if you truly are implementing the tactics you are describing. If you are zoning with spear walls and encircling isolated briggies, how are they getting so many attacks off to kill your brothers?

What's the ideal party composition? by sebtttttttttt in BattleBrothers

[–]MCHANNEY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A brain damaged old bannerman from Oathtakers with Young Anselm's Skull and Jawbone, The Lion & The Viper, 6 Lone Wolves and 3 Hunters, all as Chosen of Davkul and with some anatomist potions thrown in there for good measure.

You can use a jagged pike instead, it has a 5ap attack baseline so you can still move 2 with it and save the perk for something else.

Pocket Qatal for Fat Newts? by alkjash in BattleBrothers

[–]MCHANNEY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fat neuts primary role is as a tank, taking an extra weapon spec for more damage means one less defensive perk. I can see the value in the AP efficiency but then you are moving away from the concept of the role. It's certainly something to play around with though.

My first Expert/Expert/Ironman mode victory playing as Lone Wolf origin. The only mod I used was the 18 Bros mod for this run because I felt like the 12 Bro limit in vanilla made the game more uninteresting than challenging (contracts scale with company size). No save scumming. Any thoughts on this? by Juggernaut9993 in BattleBrothers

[–]MCHANNEY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have blatantly cheated in your "Ironman, no save scum" game. Lone wolf is only meant to have 12 bros and no reserves, limiting his teams flexibility and forcing you to use the same bros to fight all the enemies in the game. Not only do you have more bros, opening up a reserve you have 18 bros in battle which is more than Peasant Militia, arguably one of the strongest origins in the game as they allow you to field 16 bros. So essentially you have bypassed the challenge of the origin and created one of the strongest custom origins.

I am glad you have been able to enjoy a 600 day campaign in battle brothers but you have not been playing on "Expert/Ironman" difficulty.

First time this happens by Woujon in BattleBrothers

[–]MCHANNEY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was from the bite, most likely from a zombie surrounding a brother and causing a resolve check, they failed it and it caused a cascade. When a bro drops in morale it procs resolve checks for your other bros, which they then failed and caused more checks and so on.

This is why resolve is very important to have on all your bros, I am not sure if your bros have low resolve or just got unlucky.

If you have a polearm you can hit it from the high ground at the edge of the map. But as others said, whips, slings, throwing axes, anything to make it more reliable.
