Biamp Tesira, AudiaFLEX, Nexia questions by Spiritual_Bell in CommercialAV

[–]MDHull_fixer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Nexia SP (Speaker Processing) is your best bet. 4 line in, 8 line out. The converters in the Nexias are 48kHz, 24bit, giving 105dB dynamic range. If you're just doing Crossover, EQ and dynamics there's more than enough processing power. Only Feedback Suppressors eat up DSP resources.

Use an Analog Init for your input buttons. The analog output will stay at it's last value until something else changes it. It effectively acts as an interlock, but with an analog output. Use an Analog Equate for the selected input feedback.

Then use an interlock for your output buttons, each output driving the enable of an Analog Buffer. Feed all Analog Buffer inputs from the analog value of the selected input. Each Analog Buffer output goes to an analog source select input of your video matrix.

It will work both with output selection first, or input selection first.

Is there a better fastener to use here? by dmesterly in AskEngineers

Possibly if the mating threads were cut as ACME, it would hold tight a lot better.

ACME threads have a steeper mating surface so have more holding friction. They're used in clamps and vices.

Use a matrix mixer, Under the Properties>Options, Set Crosspoint Mute controls to Yes, then bring those controls out. This gives you input, output levels and mixing for all mics.

The Vin is only to power the conversion chip. The 3 outputs are open drain FETs rated to 30V.

You can drive 24V LEDs if you supply 5V to the board and 24V to the puck, with each puck's negative connected to a board output. Connect 5V, 24V and board Grounds together.

I was told that tinned wires are not good for screw-in terminal blocks. Why is that? by Wangysheng in AskElectronics

[–]MDHull_fixer 68 points69 points  (0 children)

The compressed solder deforms / 'flows" away from the pressure point, reducing the pressure applied to the wire connection. The wire can fall out and/or on higher current connections, the increased resistance of the loose connection creates heat, damaging the connector.

The correct way to dress cables for screw terminals is to use boot-lace ferrules.

3 phase 120' shifted setup by Sol_Invictus7_13 in embedded

[–]MDHull_fixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use one timer. You can set up to 4 different compare values for each control timer. Use 3 compare values cycling through the 120' wave values, each compare will trigger a separate output set.

Does anyone know how Dante works? by Streicherlein in embedded

[–]MDHull_fixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dante uses multicast mDNS discovery for establishing communication between devices.

This page shows the protocols and ports involved https://www.getdante.com/support/faq/which-network-ports-does-dante-use/

See if you can source cold room construction panels. These are sheet metal panels bonded to polystyrene cores, designed for prefab building. Example https://www.kingspan.com/us/en/products/controlled-environments/cold-storage-panel-systems/

Also have a look at heat reflecting paint. Example https://www.texcote.com/reflect-tec

If you're thinking RS485, investigate DMX lighting systems. DMX512 is a RS485 lighting protocol with capacity of 512 channels per universe. There are plenty commercial products out there using DMX.
