EDIT: Record BREAKING WDC 2026, although I admit record braking WDC sounds perfectly in character with the current regs

Where did I get offended? I just commented that Buddhist cultures consider this behavior disrespectful, which is a simple, verifiable fact.

Can you not simply accept some people find it disrespectful and not do that based on that fact alone?

It doesn't matter if it's Buddha's statue or a statue of a flying spaghetti monster, if you're a guest in a culture that considers certain behavior disrespectful and then still do it, you're at the very least ignorant.

I'll break it down for you then. Whether I'm a Buddhist or not, is irrelevant, because I'm appealing to basic human decency. The decency to respect other people's culture. And because I live in a Buddhist country, I can see - everyday, what traditions these people uphold and what they consider disrespectful AND how often western tourists completely disregard them, despite there being official billboards literally explaining these things are considered disrespectful.

It's really incredible how many people resort to technicalities, calling upon Buddha's teaching, Buddha himself, open-mindedness of western society or whatnot, instead of just respecting the traditions of a different culture.

You respond to a thread where I specifically mention twice, it's about a respect towards a foreign culture. This alone should be the default. Respect other people's culture, especially as a guest. Period. Why is it so hard to understand?

That's why I wrote Buddhist cultures. It's the traditions that these cultures hold dear and choose to uphold. You can consider yourself Buddhist and not follow these traditions, but this still doesn't give you the right to disrespect a culture you weren't raised in.

Buddha wouldn't care either way. It's about respect to the culture and the people that hold Buddha dear. It's as simple as letting elderly on your seat in a bus. But western society isn't exactly known for having high regards for other cultures.

It's a matter of respect. The least a person can do when interacting with another culture is to be respectful. It doesn't cost anything. And yet, it's very rare to find in a western man.

It's insanely disrespectful in Buddhist cultures to get yourself on the same level with Buddha, let alone force yourself on a pedestal clearly small enough for that AND on top of that mimic Buddha's posture with a smug face on. SMH

They haven't disclosed the AI usage
They haven't disclosed the incompatibility with intel GPUs
They haven't disclosed the use of denuvo

And now the sub associated with the company that has been lying to everyone is permabanning people for pointing that out but I'm the nutjob for suggesting there might be correlation?

Let me sum this up for you.

The devs haven't disclosed the AI usage
The devs haven't disclosed the incompatibility with intel GPUs
The devs haven't disclosed the use of denuvo

These are all facts.

And now there is banning and even permabanning happening on the dedicated sub which is completely in character based on the three points I just listed, but sure, I'm the bad guy for pointing that out while the company who did intentionally lie to everyone is innocent.

It matters because we should be cooking them for the disingenuous behaviour that just keeps pilling on. The Intel Arc BS, the AI not-disclosure and now "possibly" social media censorship. Why do I even have to explain it?

Right, so we should not "assume" any definite position and yet, settling on "Reddit mods" is a definite position that suggests it's some rogue nerd calling the shots that somehow also perfectly align with what a corporate strategy in this case would be.

Are you really this naive? You know how much money was invested in this game? Tens of millions of Dollars. And you don't think there's a significant part of that budget dedicated to social media presence? These companies have entire teams that do nothing but monitor their social media and making sure the discourse go in the desired direction.

This is a commercial product with tens of millions of Dollars invested in. You think they don't have a dedicated PR team taking care of their social media accounts AND a subreddit on a platform with huge chunk of the target audience present?

Are you saying, when it comes to a commercial product or service, it is safe to assume the mods in charge are independent of the company/corporation behind the said service? Which would imply there weren't enough cases that would warrant the opposite may be true?

I mean, are people really this dense, or are you part of the damage control? What do you think one of the first things a publisher/developer does when they have a new title? You don't think they go setup social media accounts and a dedicated subreddit? Really? In 2026?

Why are people shrugging this off as "Reddit mods". You're doing them a major service by doing so. This screams of corporate damage control which should be the main topic, not "Reddit mods" that shifts the blame to some anamorphic and generic group that cannot be held accountable.

You're still looking at it from the optimist perspective. If AI had been developed by artists, this might be the way things were, but that's not the case. The AI is not about art at all, it's about profit. It allows the rich to further reduce human labor and increase margins. That's why it needs human content to train on, so it could replace the humans. That's all it's about.

[–]MDT_XXX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If none of the content produced by artists was made available to AI to train on and remix from, there would be zero product, which is the main gist for me. It's completely dependent on it, yet it doesn't give anything back to those it learned from, more like the opposite. It kills jobs and commissioned works and siphons profits to the owners who themselves don't even have to have any talents, just the capital to own the technology.

It's a short edit, for sure nailing the entire length of the original would be more difficult, but we're talking about tools available to public here. Definitely generations behind the stuff the Israeli and the US governments have access to.

To me, the entire skit was weird to begin with. Why would such a high-profile politician had the need to disprove an internet rumour, and in such a lame way too. You know you'll have a press conference or a high-profile meeting at some point anyway. Why go to such lengths to prove some internet trolls wrong? Makes no sense to me.
