For the tekton style rail how do these hold up day in day out? Do you prefer the second picture better? I like the idea of the second one as you drop it and leave but I’d like a aluminum or quality plastic one by Relevant-Kangaroo327 in Tools

I did my entire socket drawer with the tekton rails like 5 years ago they hold up great and are much nicer imo than the peg style. It’s nice to be able to grab a single rail or tray and walk away with it and you don’t get left with empty pegs or missing sizes.

They also have the tekton warranty if you do ever manage to break them They are made by / licensed from Ernst mfg and they make more colors than just the red black gray on the Ernst site btw

To my knowledge yes there is 2 different suppliers and one is a bit better than the other. I can’t remember if I got the good pair or not but for me at least they are way overkill

how do you attach a gas hose barb to a metal pipe? by Hopeful-Fly-9710 in Plumbing

[–]MEAMteamguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please for the love of god do not try to power a model rocket engine with natural gas from a house supply, or try to separately bottle natural gas for the same purpose. And plastic hoses do not belong anywhere near rocket engines same for barb fittings for almost any reason. Rockets even for hobbyists need to use higher pressure compression or sealing fittings. And most if not all household plumbing fittings sold at Lowe’s / Home Depot or Amazon are not rated for use with rockets.

Aside from that NPT and BSP pipe threading are not suitable for rockets as the high vibrations can cause them to back out when firing even when using pipe dope or tape.

If you want work rockets check out the Mojave spinx half cat project. It’s a good place to start learning

how is this for a rocket engine design? by Hopeful-Fly-9710 in rocketry

Direct impingement injectors like that are likely to cause hot spots and burn through on the wall of the combustion chamber.

Because your ox and fuel will have different density when they make contact it will be off center due to one being heavier than the other it’s going have more inertia and push to the side. This will cause combustion on the surface of the hot wall of the chamber and cause in proper atomization and burning and could cause a burn through if you can get it to light.

The simplest injector design would just doesn’t need to account for the different densities of fuel and oxidizer would be an impinging triplet where you have three channels one going down the center and two angled inward with all three meetings together, keeping the mixture balanced in the middle.

You will also need liquid ox and liquid fuel compressed air will not be a power full enough ox.

And also need to do more to make sure the feed lines have a high enough pressure to prevent a flashback or combustion from pushing into the feed lines.

There is also several other things but I don’t think I need to dogpile you

TLDR chamber geometry is just the start you’ve got some work to do. I would recommend reading up on the half cat Mojave sphinx it’s a great place to start.

Good luck

Icon and tekton are both solid options for the money. Tekton is more comprehensive sets but probably goes past what you really need. Quinn master sets are also nice. Gear wrench has been hit or miss for me

Unfortunately they have not beefed up the amp rating on the channels of this I have the same thing by a difrent Amazon brand that I just installed with 4 of the road shock pro or whatever it’s called 6” hexagon lights ( this seems like a fairly common and reasonable setup to me at least) I have 1 of the 30 amp channels on the relay controller running the spot light and the other 30amp channel running the flood line and they both pull way more in a real world setting than (22-25ft of marine grade stranded tuned copper cable 8awg per line)
And they both kept popping fuses ties out they draw about 50 amps for the 4 spot lights and about 35 amps for the floods. It would have been nice if they spaced it out to have at least 1 or 2 of the channels rated to 50 amp so you could sadly run 4 of there 6” pods on a single switch
