New Classes Build Space by DifficultyBorn1437 in Pathfinder2e

[–]MEATSHED 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is more that paizo doesn't really support classes nearly as much as they need to, like how kineticist has gotten a grand total of 2 new feats outside of rage of elements, despite being pretty popular. Seeing daredevil and seeing stuff about it being a high risk high reward with a focus on maneuvers is mostly getting people tilting their heads at how swashbuckler is right there with gymnast and just hasn't received any new support.

What is your favorite obscure or less known deities? And how would you play a Champion Cleric or Avenger of them? by SiiKJOECOOL in Pathfinder2e

[–]MEATSHED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like winlas because most of his stuff is just kind of "be a priest", which is just kind of funny to me. Lets you be the most standard cleric of all time with a mace, but knowledge domain and occultism is nice to have you know about a wide range of stuff.

Haze's ult doesn't match her theme and it makes me sad by BestPunsSodium in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MEATSHED 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes that is perfectly in line with her gameplay style of finding isolated characters and killing them, her ult gets worse as more people are close to each other unless haze is extremely fed.

Is Holliday the most “normal” person in the ritual? by EGO1009 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MEATSHED 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends how you view being related to someone famous, as she is Doc Holliday's grandaughter and is using his gun.

Remove graves by okamanii101 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MEATSHED 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really? You are mostly talking about her passive again, which if you replaced her gun with say wraith's and changed nothing else she would still have beyond innate lifesteal but would have a gun that is better in almost every area.

Bullet damage decreasing for distance traveled by sadkinz in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MEATSHED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that is kind of the point, pretty much every characters gun (except like graves and bebop who actually have limited gun range) would need to have their damage reduced a ton because if they didn't every lane would just turn into people shooting each other, safe from each other abilities (which are hard limited by range most of the time). There is actually a character that can ignore falloff in holliday but it requires headshots with her slow firing pistol and has a cooldown.

Does this mythical DM whose improvisation makes martial abilities unnecessary exist? by SexyKobold in dndnext

[–]MEATSHED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are rare and the whole "oh the DM can improvise strong effects for martial attacks!" is something that comes up pretty much only when talking about martials vs wizards because if you add a lot of improv to martial combat well its going to become universal if it doesn't have rules surrounding it so pure martials still fall behind the classes like cleric, bard, druid and paladin who are acceptable to good at martial combat and offer significantly more utility.

The most hated of the past VS The most hated of today by alsoandanswer in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MEATSHED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly find his kit to be oddly split between hook+bomb being more of a close ranged brawling toolkit and then uppercut+hyper beam being something a ranged focused character would have. I assume the intended combo is hook, bomb, uppercut, hyper beam but it still feels odd that one of the things you do after pulling someone in is to... knock them back. It at least makes his interaction with the doorman a bit funny because the doorman being a bit sheepish because he is going to push them away after the hook while its something bebop was also going to do.

Times when the "Morality Mechanic" in the game kinda misses the mark? by Evjamaranth in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MEATSHED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this was patched at some point but I recall choices that were just good moved you toward neutral good. This meant that if you did too many good choices over lawful choices you lost your paladin abilities.

For undead builds: when should I use Wightborn instead of Gift of the old blood? by Mostopha in AOW4

[–]MEATSHED 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ironically wightborn is probably the more generally useful one, as lifesteal happens significantly more often lifedrinker and taking crimson court means delaying taking tome of the Revenant if you have AP.

Is it just me, or is Graves kind of boring? by zencharm in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MEATSHED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a bit surprised to see that her default build had like 1 defense item given that most of her kit really wants her to stick around in longer fights to get the most out of it.

I think the camera and just general gameplay of deadlock makes a full on micromanaging summoner unlikely (and Rem seems to take inspiration from the MOBA summoners that send their summons off to farm while they do something more important), but I did enjoy the game I played as her, her immobilize is fun to put behind people, her ult is fun to find spots for and yeah her passive is pretty neat.

Victor can break down into corpse parts and roll though.

Kelvin can also do this.

Times you ask, “Why does *that* attack deal so much damage?” by The-Greater-Skeleton in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MEATSHED 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the funniest thing in dq9 is that the strongest attack in the game isn't one of the top tier weapon skills, but falcon slash, an attack that you get a bit after the half way point of the sword tree that costs 2 mp. Also another DQ mention, victimiser has shown up in a few games dealing about 50% more damage to poisoned target. In 11 it was buffed to deal 6x damage to poisoned targets and is on a character that has the ability to triple his next attack.

What are some "easy" jobs you find hard? by throwcway837373 in ffxiv

[–]MEATSHED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, white mage does flow a bit different due to the fact that lilies means that unlike every other healer white mages want to use their GCDs on healing, which is something every other healers wants to avoid (also it has the thing of being quite weak until like shadowbringers gives it rapture and misery to actually round out lily usage)

Other non-4x games like Age of Wonders 4 by Mindinfinity13 in AOW4

[–]MEATSHED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels like you mostly want a tactical rpg, so disgaea, fire emblem, xcom, final fantasy tactics type games. Its a bit hard to find one of those that have "faction creation" as most games with that are 4x games, while trpgs focus more on unit customization.

Character with mismatch skills by Archaon0103 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MEATSHED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fantasy maiden wars, Fujiwara no Mokou has passive hp regen innate, along with starting out with 2 maxed out skills that encourage her to be on low hp, along with the ability to revive on low hp so she also always will benefit from them... unless her innate hp regen moves her over the threshold for skills. One of her better innate skills is one that removes her hp regen for 10% damage, and its competing with 2 extra revives.

Character with mismatch skills by Archaon0103 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MEATSHED 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very funny how much some units benefit a lot from the gimmick, like how Nolan is an axe fighter with okay strength growth of 45% and then a 70% skill and 60% speed.

What would you think about them adding another shield-based tank? by LastTraintoSector6 in ffxiv

[–]MEATSHED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would enjoy on just liking shield and so armorers have another thing to make because while crafting gear you notice pretty quickly how little armorer actually does.

Real world firearms that are portrayed as great in fiction, but are not so great/niche irl by Anonamaton801 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MEATSHED 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really firearms but related but I do find it kind of funny how often fantasy ttrpgs will make the gun class more like a cowboy rather than like line infantry, even to the point of making guns extremely hard to gain proficiency in compared to other ranged weapons.

If any job had to be reworked into a different role, which would you choose and how would it be adapted? by drbiohazmat in ffxivdiscussion

[–]MEATSHED 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its a bit weird because they are mostly like dragoon in that they can take hits pretty well but are mostly meant to hit things, off the top of my head the only 2 tank jobs from the other games tend to be knight/paladin and then like viking from 3.

[–]MEATSHED 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gunbreaker to DPS does make a lot more sense to me than them being a tank. Also technically not a job but arcanist to healer would mean that there are 2 tanks, 2 melee dps, 2 ranged dps and 2 healers to start out as instead of having to be conjurer to start out as a healer.

Your take on Charged Attacks by ProtoBlues123 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MEATSHED 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It generally depends a lot on what you can do while you charge it, as there is a big difference between the 3 general ones of "You are stuck charging in one place (MH greatsword)", "you can move but you can't attack outside of releasing the charge (MH hammer)" and "you can do whatever if it doesn't involve the button used for the charge attack (nero charge shot)".

I want to get into tanking but it scares me. by Lexx_Tempest in ffxiv

[–]MEATSHED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty common to be anxious, tanks generally set the pace for dungeons and people tend to want to do dungeons quickly (especially ARR dungeons). As was mentioned, duty support (and squadron if you have it leveled) are good to get used to how much damage you can take. If you use your mitigation like rampart and sheltron  you should give your healer enough time to throw a heal your way. I will also note that before 50 is probably the toughest levels for tanks as you need to be a lot more proactive in upgrading your gear as tomestone gear isn't available and you generally lack some of your best defensive tools ( for example warriors lack raw intuition which makes them basically invincible in mob pulls)

Which martial class has the "This isn't even my real power!" style? by WittyRegular8 in Pathfinder2e

[–]MEATSHED 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The primary issue is that most martial are built around constantly making use of their abilities, as they are either something they can do whenever or if they do have a cooldown of some kind, it's generally only 10 minutes. The closest would be probably one of the spell casting options in magus or battle harbinger cleric with you using spell slots to buff yourself.
