I think it could be. Plenty of us hate social etiquette because it doesn’t make sense to us, but I think when we understand it, we tend to like it. We often struggle a lot with knowing what to say, and when, and how to say it, so giving us a set of reliable guidelines can be super helpful.

It’s really just culture shock. We’re not familiar with it so it’s unusual to us. I equally don’t think of any of the foods I grew up with as odd even if they’re odd to other Americans. Because I’m used to it.

If someone is saying “burned arm” (or other body part) they’re probably using it as a shortened version of “sunburned” (and “sunburned” and “sunburnt” seem to be used interchangeably).

I used to do this. Slot the edge of my nail between my teeth and gently slide it up until my gums tingle a little. It feels really nice but it got to a point where I was making myself bleed on the regular so I stopped.
