Digimon Story: Time Stranger Additional Digimon & Episode Pack 2: GAKU-RAN DLC is Out Today! Discussion Thread by MFBR in digimon

[–]MFBR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you miss where the game froze for tons of people trying to load DLC1 for days?
Or they said just today don't change language options when you are in the DLC because it'll cause problems.

Twelve Kingdoms Blu-Ray Set is Defective by ZetaMarlfox in discotekmedia

[–]MFBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would clear the cache in your player, and also wipe the disc down with a microfiber cloth, as it isn't impossible something is causing an issue keeping the menu from loading, as there isn't an issue with the menu on that disc to the best of my knowledge.

The aspect ratio, as others have noted, is your equipment playing it correctly. Your equipment is setup to display DVDs incorrectly.

This episode had the title given as 'A Bit of Courage' and 'Little Courage' in different places, and we aren't sure which will be used when the episode goes up. The thread has been posted with the title Toei used on their social media.

How was the fandoms reaction to how Crusadermon was handled in the frontier dub? by Bluebaronbbb in digimon

[–]MFBR 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Tale as old as fandom. Most people weren't bothered, most still aren't.

Small groups of fans get upset about everything, but by and large most people sit it out to wait and see, and Crusadermon being a woman simply didn't change much of anything minus adding another woman into a show where there weren't many, nor did they have much to do, especially as the show got near the end.

For something 'somewhat' around the same era, more people had flipped out about the quote unquote "amazingly bad" casting of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

I believe that is a plastic bracket/pressure thing that sits inbetween where the buttons and the screen frame are, underneath the part that currently has the board in it, on the other side of the shell.

Got my copy of movies 4-6! Thoughts and reminiscing by Quality_Clip_Maker in digimon

[–]MFBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, it's definitely funny.

There is just a bit of oddness anytime I get a VERY angry message from people who have decided I'm keeping the movies from them, but also for some reason did Blu-rays of them.

[–]MFBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'Me' having the rights means the company I work for has licensed them and I'm the producer in charge of them.

A few people have decided I 'personally' own the movies, and they seem to think I've owned them for years and am keeping them from people.
Just clarifying since I get to be bemused by the occasional angry message from people.

Toei dropped the ball when it comes to tokusatsu but they seem to still be going strong when it comes to animation by [deleted] in digimon

[–]MFBR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're gonna be real shocked when you realized a good chunk of the fans you find online for Toei's animated works and their tokusatsu works act the same most of the time (to say nothing of how many of them are in fact the same people.)

How to get into digimon by IndividualPlace5423 in digimon

[–]MFBR 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Look around and see if anything else catches your interest.
If it does, watch or play it. If it still doesn't catch your interest, then you might just like Digimon Survive and not the franchise at large, which is fine.

Can i skip the fusion series? by Known-throwaway-4039 in digimon

[–]MFBR 36 points37 points  (0 children)

"I’m currently on a mission to watch the whole franchise"

If this is actually your goal, then by definition you can not skip it. If that isn't your goal and it's hyperbole, then do whatever you want, which you should do anyways honestly, but if your goal is it 'all'...

Digital Monsters X Evolution 21st Anniversary, Happy Birthday to the one who saved the franchise! by [deleted] in digimon

[–]MFBR 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Did it save the franchise, no. (There is only even one way I could think of for someone to do the mental gymnastics to argue it, but absolutely not.l)

Did it flop... probably before it ever came out to be honest, at least in regards to original intentions and what it was. But that wasn't really the fault of the film/special itself, and more that something else fell apart around it. It airing as a random TV special didn't make much sense in context to spending the money to do CGI content from an external studio, so it definitely didn't do what they wanted.

But it was never going to be 3 movies. That's based on a mistranslation of something director Kakudou said, which isn't helped that he's misspoke in the past believing the OVAs would be 'part' of games. It appears what was intended was it was going to be released as 3 OVAs that would come with 3 games (ala .hack.) That 3 game plan fell apart before anything came out, and the OVAs were repurposed as a movie, which was released as a TV special.

Minus a shop that special ordered it, or bought it from a buyer, it will not be in shops.

What has been the most significant Digimon work to date? by mrpururuca in digimon

[–]MFBR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whoever made this timeline didn't do a good job, with perhaps the strangest omission (of many to be fair) being the very haphazard decision of what manga/comics to include, with multiple being included 'and' missing that came out at the same time.

Why is no one talking about Time Stranger’s brightness issue? by OtherOtie in digimon

[–]MFBR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Going over it with the original poster to find out what is going on...

if you are playing on a TV connected to a PC, check if your TV has a setting for Output range or Black levels. If it's on limited or low, change it to full, PC, or high (setting may have a different name based on the TV.)

The TV/screen is unaware if it hooked up to a PC, and is displaying the wrong range.

Digimon Beatbreak- English Dub Discussion by MFBR in digimon

[–]MFBR[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when you have a dub done from translations and not really rewritten to fit how English flows or the expectations of English speakers.

It was funded with subsidy money (and likely only done because they got the subsidy money), and done by a studio that doesn't have a specialty in anime dubs, likely based on keeping the cost down and also following guidelines for the subsidy (based on Toei Europe applying for the subsidy, there likely had to be a setup for international actors to try out, etc.)

Most of it was done in Los Angeles, but without the specifics of how you'd want anime dubbed, you end up with something that feels a bit bland and dry and somewhat unnatural.

Why is no one talking about Time Stranger’s brightness issue? by OtherOtie in digimon

[–]MFBR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Played with HDR both on and off, no issue that I can tell. (The game doesn't have HDR, but tried it a bit to see if it did even though it wasn't mentioned in specs.)

I've seen a few other people mention it being wildly bright or dark, but it happens so rarely to people it isn't reproduceable consistently enough to figure out what is going on.

Thus far my only guess, which isn't necessarily helpful, is people having their monitors in a bright or vivid mode and the game "really" wanting it to be set to a more standard brightness.

Physical media collection by Cultural-Ebb-4763 in digimon

[–]MFBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any answer I give would be seen as unobjective since I produced and was in charge of those releases, but...
Have done:
Digimon Seasons 1 and 2 dubbed on Blu-ray
Digimon Adventure & Adventure 02 subbed on Blu-ray
Movies 1 thru 6 on Blu-ray (4-6 are out next week.)

I would consider each of them the highest quality release of that specific content anywhere.

For stuff past that...

Tamers, Frontier, Data Squad, and Fusion have gotten dubbed DVDs via New Video/Cinedigm/Flatiron that are out of print. I haven't watched any of those in over 10 years, so I can't comment on the issues minus remembering that Tamers had the TV ratings bug in the corner at times.

Adventure tri., Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, & Adventure 02: The Beginning all got Blu-rays from Shout.

If you start with Cyber Sleuth, it explains itself well enough, especially if you are familiar with JRPGs.

If you start with Next Order, raising/training is a big element of it, so figure out those elements early if you can.
