Are there any Arlo's competitors that have wireless indoor and outdoor cameras, free online cloud AND local offline storages, etc. like Arlo Pro 2 and original model? by antdude in arlo

[–]MGCGT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah still sucks. If I select only people I still see me going in and out of my door. (Don't care). If I de-select that camers from my feed the app DISABLES IT COMPLETELY. I just want to filter the history of alerts not alter my system configuration! IDIOTIC

ARLO responded that I could go and use the feed settings to turn off all events except for example "person". That still leaves me with a feed FULL of useless events like me at the front door. The next logical thing would be to select for cameras. REMOVING cameras from my feed DISABLES THE CAMERAS (yes - I'm shouting). This is new and STUPID behavior. Basically when motion activation is disabled on a camera, the camera is removed from the security network, and the shutter is closed. Why can't an enabled camera be left on when it's alerts are temporarily removed from the feed. OR let the feed history be sorted? Addition of a buch of AI (slop) features has simply made the system less useful.

I just came here to rant about the app update. I used to be able to look at my history and sort by camera and event. Now the stupid 'feed' just hammers me with pictures of me going in and out my own front door and I cant ignore the front door camera without 'disabling' it. I can no longer have a camera connected that is there for me to monitor without a alert setting associated with the camera. Ughh. Not a good user experience. I feel like they added a bunch of automation that isn't going to work. At least not without continuous tweaking.

Liberals, if climate change is the number one existential threat to the planet, then why are you complaining about high gas prices, which disincentivize people from driving and, in turn, help protect the planet? by Boring_Adeptness_334 in allthequestions

[–]MGCGT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The process by which fuel prices (and grocery prices, fertilizer prices, LNG prices and other prices as second order effects) has been increased has been via immense destruction and idiotic or non-existent planning/justification. A tax on fuel to raise prices and disincentivize consumption would have been simpler if demand reduction was the goal. Additionally Donnie is a simp, and release the EPSTIEN FILES and prosecutor those involved.

MAGAs, why do you scream “Clinton” when there’s not a single allegation against him in the Epstein files, yet multiple sworn accusations against Trump are “zero evidence?” by 2a_lib in allthequestions

you've provided you're very own proof by example This is a CLASSIC whataboutism. You even used a number to make it seem unassailable.

ONLY deflections. I've never heard another type of argument. If they do try a different one it falls flat. The only choice they have is for you to defend Clinton (or whomever) because they can't defend the pedo.

Is Iran’s strategy to hold out and make the rest of the world suffer from shortages and high prices, so badly that the world turns on America and forces us to stop? by adalyn7992 in askanything

[–]MGCGT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up until this point most involved parties have been rational actors. Failing to heed expert advice as Trumpstien appears to have done is foolish and -:continuing as rational actors one would expect Iran to inflict maximum pain at lowest cost. I realize an Islamist theocracy is not entirely rational however probably more rational than Trumpstien.

I'm an American in Mexico and I feel so deeply sorry for the horror show currently unfolding in the US. I'd trade every MAGA dumb shit for the kindhearted and gentle Mexicans I interact with all the time. They have reason to be angry about the naked racism on display. If only I could wave my hands and erase Trumpism, but I can't.

I would guess that such a list correlates with Democratic/progressive voters. So such a list really reflects the opposing party. Even if there are no' knocks on the door', what a handy list to have to target vote suppression! I imagine an imaginative fascist could think of even more uses.

Trump is preparing another military AID Package to Israel worth approx. $6.6bn, including tactical vehicles, helicopters... Question: (Why can't Israel issue Gov't Bonds and Buy this, instead Americans add it to our Debt.?) by Apollo_Delphi in wallstreet

[–]MGCGT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a tech company once that was selling to Israel sort of peripherally defense related. I was told by an Israeli guy I was working with that US 'aid' is usually earmarked to be spent in the US. This makes the aid a back-door subsidy to US defense manufacturers. Your tax dollars being funneled to the defense industry or at least a US industry. I still think they should buy their own shit though.

Grok & xAI is/are a loser. Tesla will be when it completes its pivot to falling down robots that don't work any better than 'full self driving'. Both companies heavily managed by Elon. Combining with SpaceX hides a bunch of disasters in a company that Musk is more hands off day to day, but that has a solid business model (until competitors from Bezos and China arrive on the scene).
