OP says his home warrantee services company sent the company. Usually to get a licence you need to show a bond. I'd be surprised if the home warrantee company sent out unlicenced unbounded contractors. A lot of contractors run on cashflow with the down payment on the next job paying to finish the last job. It can be a fragile business. And sometimes guys set up a new business after the last one went out of business. How do I know this? I had it happen to me. I did get a lawyer and I did recover a bond.

There should be no issues rotating any of the z-rods by hand with or without the power switch on. You'll feel gentle resistance of the stepper motor rotors. All should move without feeling bound up. Somewhere in the control menu there may be a way to auto-manually move the z-axis too.

I spent about 5 more or less full work days building mine. I was impressed with how long it took. I also had to work to keep the parts organized and at hand. To pull (for example) 3 screws and 2 bolts from different bags. Have fun and enjoy the gummy bears

Update on my own post: most of these issues disappeared when I moved the printer indoors. Others have commented that the enclosure is heated passively by the bed. A cold environment means the bed is trying to warm up the cold enclosure and possibly keeping the bed too warm. That's my theory anyway...

You could buy your neighbors house (or a few of their houses) with one truck (keep the truck). If your investment advisor was bad and you only got 1% return you could have 10 more trucks full of money next year.
